Book The German Dairy Sector Internationalization Competitiveness Supply Chains

Download or read book The German Dairy Sector Internationalization Competitiveness Supply Chains written by Johannes Meyer and published by Cuvillier Verlag. This book was released on 2020-06-08 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The German dairy industry is the second largest sector of German agribusiness in terms of turnover. In recent years, it has been characterized by a strong liberalization, which means that it is facing increased competition, both on domestic and foreign markets. At the same time, the demands from politics and society are increasing, for example with regard to environmental legislation and GMO-free feeding. Against this background, the dissertation examines both quantitatively and qualitatively how various factors affect milk production in Germany and derives future developments on this basis. In view of the changing competitive environment, the dissertation examines the international competitiveness of the German dairy industry by analysing foreign trade data. In addition, the internationalization strategies present in the German dairy industry are identified and their influence on economic success is analysed by means of panel data analysis based on annual financial statements of dairy companies. Based on the results, opportunities and risks, as well as possibilities of implementing a potential market entry into the Brazilian dairy market are analysed.

Book Global Competitiveness in Dairy Sector

Download or read book Global Competitiveness in Dairy Sector written by Ramphul Ohlan and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study has measured the extent of competition in the global dairy sector. Based on global competition, time series analysis has been carried out to find the past trend and future direction. The position of India has been examined and compared along with of a few other leading milk producers. The analysis indicates that over the past two decades the global competition for milk production has witnessed a downward trend. Whereas, the market share of milk production of India is increasing. This indicates that over the years the competitiveness of the Indian dairy sector has been improving. In this context, cost of milk production, farm size, infrastructure for milk collection, milk processing capacity, quality of dairy products, etc. have been highlighted to gain global competitive advantage. In addition, there is a need to manage the Indian dairy industry in a manner to enhance the production of dairy products and upgrade milk processing using innovative technologies.

Book Northern Ireland Economy

Download or read book Northern Ireland Economy written by Esmond Birnie and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-23 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1999, this timely study emerged at a critical juncture for the EU and Ireland, and aimed to review the past development and future prospects of the Northern Ireland economy in the light of the European Union and its possible expansion. Esmond Birnie and David M.W.N. Hitchens examine the economic circumstances in the wake of Northern Ireland’s longstanding position as a region which lags behind UK performance in the EU. Here, they update the data and discussion contained in an earlier study by the authors, Closing the Productivity Gap (1990), through discussions including engines of growth, the process of convergence and the current and likely development of Northern Ireland-Republic of Ireland economic links. This book will be of use to both academics, undergraduates, A-level students and the general reader.

Book The Europeanization of Party Politics in Ireland North and South

Download or read book The Europeanization of Party Politics in Ireland North and South written by Katy Hayward and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-31 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ireland’s relationship with the European Union has been determined by the behaviour, actions and discourse of political parties. This book examines this impact through an in-depth analysis of the Europeanization of party politics in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. First, it presents original research on cross-cutting issues that have featured in political debates about European integration, including referendum campaigns on EU treaties, Irish neutrality and party policy positions on the EU. Secondly, it is the first book of its kind to examine in detail how each of the main parties on the island of Ireland has adapted to EU membership. In doing so it both tests the thesis of ‘Europeanization’ and deepens understanding of the impact that EU membership can have on national and sub-national party politics. What this study reveals is that, while Europeanization is clearly evident in all parties in Ireland, including those most critical of European integration, its influence has been strictly curtailed. We argue that the effects of Europeanization in Irish party politics have been limited by enduring resistance to – and conditions placed upon – EU influence in particular policy areas, the importance of pragmatism and (sub-)national priorities in shaping parties’ approaches to European integration and the fact that engagement with the EU continues to be a predominantly elite-led process. This book was published as a special issue of Irish Political Studies.

Book The Impact of Environmental Regulation on Competitiveness in the German Manufacturing Industry

Download or read book The Impact of Environmental Regulation on Competitiveness in the German Manufacturing Industry written by Ursula Triebswetter and published by Peter Lang Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examines in three case studies whether German plants suffer from a negative impact on competitiveness caused by stringent environmental legislation. A micro level analysis showed that abatement initiatives had in general been implemented without economic damage and did not touch on the core business. Moreover, German sample plants ranked environmental pressure as relatively unimportant compared with other competitive pressures. Finally, the low absolute levels of compliance costs, at least in two of the case studies, explained why environmental regulation cannot have a great influence on competitiveness in the chosen sectors. High productivity levels were not among the essential factors explaining our findings. It implies for our case studies that also plants with lower productivity can withstand high compliance costs.
