Book excerpt: Today’s church is declining in its commitment to the Master’s final charge. The legacy of personal evangelism that the early church left for us is being lost. We have been distracted with the things that men esteem – positions, titles and affiliations. The Church is reposing in Zion while lost souls troop into Hell. How can we be confined to the four walls of church buildings and expect the lost souls to come to us? We are doing too little to reach out to the lost world yet we say we are expecting a great harvest. It seems we no longer appreciate the comparison Jesus made about men on the broad and the narrow roads. If we did, we would be alarmed by the ratio of people who are slipping daily into hell to the number being saved and be propelled to go into the world and evangelize. If we are expecting God to send angels to come and preach to the lost, then we have missed it. He will not. This book seeks to – Awaken the Church to personal evangelism Awaken the Church to prayer and love for the lost Revive the zeal and passion of the early Church Equip the saints for the Great Commission For people who delight in the souls of men, and mean business to see them saved, this is a must read.

Book excerpt: Does your church make you uncomfortable? It’s easy to dream about the “perfect” church—a church that sings just the right songs set to just the right music before the pastor preaches just the right sermon to a room filled with just the right mix of people who happen to agree with you on just about everything. Chances are your church doesn’t quite look like that. But what if instead of searching for a church that makes us comfortable, we learned to love our church, even when it’s challenging? What if some of the discomfort that we often experience is actually good for us? This book is a call to embrace the uncomfortable aspects of Christian community, whether that means believing difficult truths, pursuing difficult holiness, or loving difficult people—all for the sake of the gospel, God’s glory, and our joy.

When a peasant-King arrives and pays the debt to free all those enslaved to an devious and destructive enemy, the whole world changes. A new kind of Kingdom is built in the land, where freedom abounds and slavery in abolished. In this Kingdom, the King serves the people and the people serve the King. Emberlyn, who has lived for so long with the weight of her past pressing on her. Claire, who is invited to become one of the most powerful warriors in the Kingdom, but at what cost? Book Why Men Hate Going to Church

Download or read book Why Men Hate Going to Church written by David Murrow and published by HarperChristian + ORM. This book was released on 2011-10-31 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Church is boring.” “It’s irrelevant.” “It’s full of hypocrites.” You’ve heard the excuses—now learn the real reasons men and boys are fleeing churches of every kind, all over the world, and what we can do about it. Women comprise more than 60% of the adults in a typical worship service in America. Some overseas congregations report ten women for every man in attendance. Men are less likely to lead, volunteer, and give in the church. They pray less, share their faith less, and read the Bible less. In Why Men Hate Going to Church, David Murrow identifies the barriers keeping many men from going to church, explains why it’s so hard to motivate the men who do attend, and also takes you inside several fast-growing congregations that are winning the hearts of men and boys. In this completely revised, reorganized, and rewritten edition of the classic book, with more than 70 percent new content, explore topics like: The increase and decrease in male church attendance during the past 500 years Why Christian churches are more feminine even though men are often still the leaders The difference between the type of God men and women like to worship The lack of volunteering and ministry opportunities for men The benefits men get from attending church regularly Men need the church but, more importantly, the church needs men. The presence of enthusiastic men is one of the surest predictors of church health, growth, giving, and expansion. Why Men Hate Going to Church does not call men back to church—it calls the church back to men.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Scot and Laura do an amazing job of teaching us what a good church looks like.” —Beth Moore What is the way forward for the church? Tragically, in recent years, Christians have gotten used to revelations of abuses of many kinds in our most respected churches—from Willow Creek to Harvest, from Southern Baptist pastors to Sovereign Grace churches. Respected author and theologian Scot McKnight and former Willow Creek member Laura Barringer wrote this book to paint a pathway forward for the church. We need a better way. The sad truth is that churches of all shapes and sizes are susceptible to abuses of power, sexual abuse, and spiritual abuse. Abuses occur most frequently when Christians neglect to create a culture that resists abuse and promotes healing, safety, and spiritual growth. How do we keep these devastating events from repeating themselves? We need a map to get us from where we are today to where we ought to be as the body of Christ. That map is in a mysterious and beautiful little Hebrew word in Scripture that we translate “good,” the word tov. In this book, McKnight and Barringer explore the concept of tov—unpacking its richness and how it can help Christians and churches rise up to fulfill their true calling as imitators of Jesus.

Book The Purpose Driven Church

Download or read book The Purpose Driven Church written by Rick Warren and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2007-09-04 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The issue is church health, not church growth—if your church is healthy, growth will occur naturally. So how do we make healthy churches, driven by purpose? In order for any church to thrive, it must be built around the five New Testament purposes given to the church by Jesus Christ. In this classic of Christian church stability, pastor and bestselling author of The Purpose Driven Life Rick Warren unpacks this proven five-part strategy that will enable your church to grow: Warmer through fellowship. Deeper through discipleship. Stronger through worship. Broader through ministry. Larger through evangelism. Every church is driven by something. Tradition, finances, programs, personalities, events, seekers, and even buildings can each be the controlling force in a church. But Warren will show you how to concentrate on building people and let God build the church. In other words, healthy, consistent growth is the result of balancing the five biblical purposes of the church. And The Purpose Driven Church will show you how to do that. “The Purpose Driven Church has brought focus and direction to more pastors and church leaders than you can count. What a gift!”—John Ortberg, bestselling author.

Book How the Teaching of Eternal Security Universalism and the Comfort Church Lead to Complacent Christians

Download or read book How the Teaching of Eternal Security Universalism and the Comfort Church Lead to Complacent Christians written by Marc Roth and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-02-09 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "One nation under God," "Endowed by their creator," and "In God we trust" are familiar and foundational phrases to those of us now described as being a part of "the greatest generation" or "the baby boomers." We've spent our lives proudly proclaiming that America is a Christian nation. After all, we made it part of our pledge, our founding documents, and we printed it on our money. Setting aside that nostalgia, the reality is that America is the third largest mission field in the world, only four percent of Americans born after 1980, believe that the Bible is true and divorce rates and pornography use are similar inside of the church as outside. How did we get here? Certainly, there are multiple factors, but a large piece of the answer is that we took God out of the schools, then out of the homes, and now we are taking Him out of the church. In churches where God may still be found, He has become one dimensional with only characteristics of love, grace, and mercy. This parallels our societal changes where all behaviors are now acceptable, and you dare not state that something is wrong, or you'll be labeled as intolerant and prejudice. Whether politically correct or not, Hell is a literal reality where those who intentionally reject Christ will spend eternity in anguish""not because God is vengeful but very simply because that is the choice that they made. Before we comfort ourselves with, "Oh, but I believe in God," remember that an integral part of belief is obedience. Also consider the question: At some point doesn't intentional neglect morph into intentional rejection? Take the short journey through these pages and learn what God's written word teaches us about a persevering relationship with Him as we travel through life toward the goal of sanctification and eternity in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
