Health care, ultimately, is helping individuals to live the lives they would wish for themselves. In order to meet this imperative, health professionals must work towards understanding what their patients would like to achieve through their engagement with health services. The necessity for patient-perspective care is outlined and provides a theoretical framework that explains why patient-perspective care is so critical.
