Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bully Versus the Prophet is a book about my nephew who from the moment he entered into the world had to face many challenges due to his small stature. He was constantly being bullied at school and after repeatedly being bullied, his dad gave him defense lessons. After summer break, Klyn and his family moved, and he had to go to a new school. Klyn found himself being bullied again. While trying to stay on the right path by reading his Bible on his lunch hours, instead of eating, he was forced to use the Word of God to fight off and to get rid of the bully. In the end, Klyn became fed up. He knew by him being a child of God that the words of God were his only defense against the bully. He knew at the age of seven how powerful words were. When the bully left him no other choice because it appeared the bully wasn’t going to stop bullying him, he used the scripture from Psalms, chapter 105, verse 15: “Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.” The next thing Klyn knew, the bully at his new school was permanently kicked out. Klyn overcame his bullying, and you can too. There is zero tolerance for bullying. So let’s all stand up against bullies and end the bullying. No one deserves to be treated unfairly. While bullying is no laughing matter, it’s real and it’s happening every day. Bullies are big monsters that like to pick on people smaller than them because that makes them feel powerful. If you know of anyone being bullied, don’t be afraid to speak up. Let someone, an adult or anyone in higher authority, know and never try to face or take the bully alone. It’s not fun being picked on or to pick on anyone.

Download or read book Bullies and Saints written by John Dickson and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2021-05-11 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is the world better off without Christianity? Combining narrative with keen critique of contemporary debates, author and historian John Dickson gives an honest account of 2,000 years of Christian history that helps us understand what Christianity is and what it's meant to be. To say that the Christian Church has an "image problem" doesn't quite capture it. From the Crusades and the Inquisition to the racism and abuse present in today's Church--both in Catholic and Protestant traditions--the institution that Christ established on earth has a lot to answer for. But the Church has also had moments throughout history when it has been in tune with Jesus' teachings--from the rise of charity to the invention of hospitals. For defenders of the faith, it's important to be able to recognize the good and bad in the church's history and be inspired to live aligned with Christ. For skeptics, this book is a thought-provoking introduction to the idea that Christianity is, despite all, an essential foundation of our civilization. Bullies and Saints will take you on a big-picture journey from the Sermon on the Mount to the modern church: Giving contextual accounts of infamous chapters of Christian history, such as the Crusades, and acknowledging their darkness. Outlining the great movements of the faith and defending its heroes and saints, some of whom are not commonly recognized. Examining the Church beside the teachings and life of Jesus and how it has succeeded in its mission to imitate Christ.

This book was released on 2024-04-27 with total page 1641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus' Crucifixion and Resurrection, foretold by 12 Biblical Prophets & Kings, was written for youth groups, Jesus lovers, church leaders, Bible study groups, and families eager for a deeper understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ. The author filled this book with conceptual illustrations that help further illuminate the readers' experience. She also included chapter-by-chapter study guides for your convenience. Ten Biblical prophets (Daniel, Ezekiel, Hosea, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah, Moses, Nathan, Samuel, and Zechariah) and two kings (King David and King Solomon) foretold, foreshadowed, and prophesied about the birth, life, and death of our Lord Jesus Christ, His resurrection three days later, followed by His ascension. This book primarily focuses on the final week of Jesus' life, including His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension; details about the Holy Spirit; the vital importance of forgiving even if you can't forget; and the Disciples and other followers who helped spread His teachings worldwide. It ends with a call to action for all to become or continue being a S.O.L.D.I.E.R. for Christ as a Saved Christian Gentile or Messianic Jew who will spread the word that Jesus is at the root of all people's Salvation. As Jesus aptly said in John 14:6 (K.J.V.), "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Fifty percent (50%) of all book sales will be donated to Covenant House to "join the fight to end youth homelessness."

Download or read book W E B Du Bois American Prophet written by Edward J. Blum and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2013-03-26 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pioneering historian, sociologist, editor, novelist, poet, and organizer, W. E. B. Du Bois was one of the foremost African American intellectuals of the twentieth century. While Du Bois is remembered for his monumental contributions to scholarship and civil rights activism, the spiritual aspects of his work have been misunderstood, even negated. W. E. B. Du Bois, American Prophet, the first religious biography of this leader, illuminates the spirituality that is essential to understanding his efforts and achievements in the political and intellectual world. Often labeled an atheist, Du Bois was in fact deeply and creatively involved with religion. Historian Edward J. Blum reveals how spirituality was central to Du Bois's approach to Marxism, pan-Africanism, and nuclear disarmament, his support for black churches, and his reckoning of the spiritual wage of white supremacy. His writings, teachings, and prayers served as articles of faith for fellow activists of his day, from student book club members to Langston Hughes. A blend of history, sociology, literary criticism, and religious reflection in the model of Du Bois's best work, W. E. B. Du Bois, American Prophet recasts the life of this great visionary and intellectual for a new generation of scholars and activists. Book excerpt: What does it take to create a successful, multicultural, multiethnic, age-inclusive and socioeconomically inclusive church in a controversial, racially divisive, violence-charged environment like Chicago, Illinois? ItaEUR(tm)s pretty much like creating the building itself. This requires a detailed survey of the land and deep excavation in search of a bedrock, vast enough to support the entire foundation. The foundation must be a detailed aggregation mixed into a specific cement mixture, poured upon secure footings. Then the foundation must be properly and securely sealed to keep the elements out in times of inclement weather. Founding a church like that is a pretty big work, and thataEUR(tm)s just the beginning. Big beginnings take timeaEUR"if you want them done right. Pastor Dan Willis was handed a Chicago congregation at the age of sixteen. Filling in as pastor until the church could get a aEURoereal one,aEUR he plodded away in prayer, seeking God and doing the work. God began to guide others toward Dan Willis from the area, to add fresh insight and perspective to his research. More gathered for excavation, praying until they hit bedrock. Still more came, bringing steadfast spiritual disciplines, to provide strong footings and bring just the right aggregation to create an excellent foundation. All these elemental people constantly seal that foundation in prayer. In this book, P. J. LaChele shares her notes, taken from the sermons that were preached as the Lighthouse Church of All Nations built their first church building. Each message symbolizes the means by which they have diligently, prayerfully, JOYFULLY gone about aEURoeBridging The GapaEUR between cultures, classes, and generations that have been so divided in Chicago and the world.
