Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These tales from the author's life experiences are mostly light-hearted but they all true. They start with Nellie the dinghy who eventually became the long, red, sleek speedboat named The Phantom. Some of the tales also involve the caravan that the author's father bought when Borry was thirteen years old. The family spent almost every weekend from March to October at St. Lawrence Bay in the wilds and farmlands of Essex, by the River Blackwater with recurring battles against screaming winkles, the bog of eternal stench and the evil mud sucking monster. Fun and frolics ensued for over forty-eight years.

Download or read book On Caravan written by John E. Ellis and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2002-11 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul Kirby and Adriana Kelder have spent their lives in the theatre. In the late sixties, the couple who would later be called the Bonnie and Clyde of Canadian theater, helped run an alternative newspaper in Montreal. Charges of obscenity and sedition lead to their going on the lam and becoming the only known Canadian fugitives to flee to the U.S. during the Vietnam War. In the 70's, they helped found a theatre company known as The Caravan. Clydesdales provided the locomotion, and the wagons provided the shelter. They'd set up their tents and share original, environmentally themed theatre with the people along the way. They plodded along for 23 years. Then they decided to build a boat. It took four years. They lived in the boatyard, put the horses out to pasture, and became shipwrights with a desire to be sailors. Now it's time to take the show out on the seas.
Download or read book Boats on Land written by Janice Pariat and published by Random House India. This book was released on 2012-10-05 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boats on Land is a unique way of looking at India’s northeast and its people against a larger historical canvas—the early days of the British Raj, the World Wars, conversions to Christianity, and the missionaries. This is a world in which the everyday is infused with folklore and a deep belief in the supernatural. Here, a girl dreams of being a firebird. An artist watches souls turn into trees. A man shape-shifts into a tiger. Another is bewitched by water fairies. Political struggles and social unrest interweave with fireside tales and age-old superstitions. Boats on Land quietly captures our fragile and awkward place in the world.

Download or read book Multiple Dwelling and Tourism written by Norman McIntyre and published by CABI. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The movement of people, goods, capital and information is a central aspect of living in the inter-connected, globalised late-modern world. Although this broader view of mobility is recognized, this book focuses mainly on migration or the movement of people and examines multiple dwelling as a societal response to the major influences of increased mobility and amenity tourism (visiting or residing in high quality landscapes such as mountains, beaches and forests for leisure experiences). It considers the modern-day meaning of multiple dwelling, how it affects personal identity and the meaning of 'home' and its impacts on host communities and landscapes. This book is of significant interest to those working in the areas of tourism, leisure, geography, outdoor recreation, sociology and anthropology.
