Book The Benji Method

Download or read book The Benji Method written by Joe Camp and published by 14 Hands Press. This book was released on 2011-02 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by Joe Camp, the writer and director of all five Benji movies and all of Benji's television programs, The Benji Method is a non-regulation training book that dispels the notion that training your dog must be difficult, or must be done by an expert, or that you need a PhD in animal psychology to even try. It's fun to read and fun to work with, and captures the spirit of how movie training with Benji is approached with exercises readers can truly enjoy with their dog. Joe Camp says training your dog is simply a matter of love and logic. And true communication. And the purpose of this book is to convince dog owners to feel comfortable with this concept so they can have terrific communication with their dog throughout his or her life; without a bunch of "experts" telling them that they must do it their way or the relationship is doomed. More importantly your dog will rapidly begin to understand the process, and then virtually anything is possible. She will understand that when you speak to her it has meaning and she will be stretching to grasp that meaning, and to apply it. It's all common sense and compassion. And it's really that simple.Helen Dennis, new puppy owner in the UK, writes: "Our very own baby Benji arrived last week and we are having a great time with her. I am eternally grateful for Joe's teaching. She is doing so well. I love the way Joe explained the vocabulary concept. We have worked hard on Sit and Stay and she has already "got it." She loves her crate and all of her toileting since day 2 has happened in the garden. Thank you so much Joe for all your help. It's superb." If you want your dog to understand you and your wishes better, be controllable, and be a lot happier because he or she has a defined way to please you, you must have this book. For all ages.

  • Author : Robin Ganzert, PhD
  • Publisher : New World Library

Download or read book Animal Stars written by Robin Ganzert, PhD and published by New World Library. This book was released on 2014-09-15 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When cameras roll and directors call, “Action,” some of the most dependable, funniest, and most enthusiastic actors stand poised on four legs, with ears alert. From Joey in War Horse to the wolves in Game of Thrones, what we see on screen is the result of meticulous preparation and professional teamwork. The eye-popping, heartwarming stories in these pages reveal the trainers, actors, directors, and, of course, dogs, cats, horses, penguins, deer, and other animals in all their behind-the-scenes glory. You’ll discover that some animal actors have diva tendencies and others have rags-to-riches backstories. American Humane Association certified animal safety representatives work carefully to ensure that no animals are harmed, as they have been doing for decades. Animal stars have done it all — convinced us to eat more tacos, broken our hearts in war dramas, inspired us with enduring love and loyalty, kept us at the edge of our seats as they snarled in the shadows, mirrored human antics to make us roar with laughter, and, like Uggie (from The Artist), stolen the show on the red carpet. Who besides a monkey named Crystal could impress a brilliant comedian like Robin Williams in Night at the Museum? And animal stars will work for food, including only KFC original recipe for Casey the bear — no other fried chicken will do! These charming and sometimes hilarious stories will give you a new appreciation for the skill and patience it takes to teach nonhuman actors to perform on camera. Training tips from the pros and personal recollections of celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Hailee Steinfeld, and Steven Spielberg make this insider’s look at the lives and work of these incomparable stars as irresistible as the animals themselves. A portion of the publisher’s proceeds from this book will aid American Humane Association.

Book Towards a Methodology for the Investigation of Norms in Audiovisual Translation

Download or read book Towards a Methodology for the Investigation of Norms in Audiovisual Translation written by Fotios Karamitroglou and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2022-06-08 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is presented for the first time a methodology for the investigation of norms which operate in the field of audiovisual translation. Based on the findings of the polysystem approach to translation, the present work aims to demonstrate that it is possible to investigate audiovisual translation and the norms that operate in it in a systematic way. Human agents, (audiovisual) products, recipients, and the mode itself are thoroughly investigated and stratified under a lower, middle and upper level. Specific techniques for collecting and analysing data are suggested. The model is tentatively applied to the investigation of norms which seem to determine the choice between subtitling and revoicing children's TV programmes in Greece. However, one will soon notice that the same model could be applied for the investigation of audiovisual translation norms in any other country. But not only that: one will quickly realise that, with minute modifications, the same model can prove effective for the study of norms in other modes of written translation too. Therefore, this volume can be of a high interest not only to audiovisual translation scholars and practitioners, but to general translation scholars and students of translation proper as well.

Book Write in Tune Contemporary Music in Fiction

Download or read book Write in Tune Contemporary Music in Fiction written by Erich Hertz and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2014-05-22 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contemporary popular music provides the soundtrack for a host of recent novels, but little critical attention has been paid to the intersection of these important art forms. Write in Tune addresses this gap by offering the first full-length study of the relationship between recent music and fiction. With essays from an array of international scholars, the collection focuses on how writers weave rock, punk, and jazz into their narratives, both to develop characters and themes and to investigate various fan and celebrity cultures surrounding contemporary music. Write in Tune covers major writers from America and England, including Don DeLillo, Jonathan Franzen, Zadie Smith, and Jim Crace. But it also explores how popular music culture is reflected in postcolonial, Latino, and Australian fiction. Ultimately, the book brings critical awareness to the power of music in shaping contemporary culture, and offers new perspectives on central issues of gender, race, and national identity.

Book Better Feedback Improved Lessons

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Good teaching does not just happen during classroom instruction. The instructional design practices teachers participate in outside of instruction can have impact on potential learning opportunities that take place during class time. Lesson planning is one of those practices that can improve a teacher’s instruction; however, it needs to be supported. Although there are a plethora of lesson plan models to assist teachers, there are no concrete strategies to help principals, teacher educators and mentors give constructive feedback on lesson plans that can impact teachers’ content, pedagogy or classroom management. This book addresses it, and provides specific strategies that supervisors can use. The goal is to use lesson plans as an educative tool.
