Book The Ascension of Jesus Christ into Heaven the Hidden Context

Download or read book The Ascension of Jesus Christ into Heaven the Hidden Context written by Ezzat Hegazi and published by Partridge Publishing Singapore. This book was released on 2020-12-06 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A single statement in Luke's Gospel opens an obscure gate to a galactically different view of exactly what happened to Jesus Christ at the end of his time on Earth. Contrary to our common understanding, Jesus’s ascension into heaven happens to be the ultimate proof of his messiahship, so much so it made his enemies race against time to prevent it from being fulfilled at any cost. The real significance of Jesus’s ascension was never made clear in the canonical gospels for it stood stubbornly against the very teachings of the Pauline Church. This book takes you on a short journey to see how Jesus’s ascension was the exact antithesis of the belief about his rising from the dead and to hear about the story of Jesus Christ as it was most likely told by the earliest Judeo-Christians. It will also bring to light the real reason behind the persecution of the early Judeo-Christians, culminating with the murder of James the Righteous: it has everything to do with the early Judeo-Christians’ steadfast belief in Jesus’s ascension into heaven, against what was being publicized about Jesus.

Book Jesus Ascended

  • Author : Gerrit Dawson
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing
  • Release : 2004-05-01

  • Pages : 270 pages

Download or read book Jesus Ascended written by Gerrit Dawson and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2004-05-01 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents the Ascension as public truth, examining questions such as when did Jesus ascend - and how, where did he go, with what kind of body and into what kind of space? It discusses the nature of Jesus' victory, how it has been challenged, how it has been understood at different times in history, and how it relates to his second coming. The author examines the relevance of the doctrine for personal spiritual life: our union with Christ, Jesus praying for us, worship, and our own prayers. He goes on to consider living in God's kingdom, the tension between waiting for the kingdom and working for it now, suffering, humanisation, and the church and the world today. The book approaches the Ascension thematically, making it a useful teaching tool. Its themes arise from the categories in which the Church Fathers employed the doctrine. Gerrit Dawson shows the Ascension to be a vital key to understanding in a fresh way the person and work of Christ, union with Christ, the mission of the church in the world, Christian identity and spiritual theology. A unique feature of the book is the way Dawson combines a full presentation of Nicene trinitarian Christology with its application to the practicalities of Christian life today. Praise for Jesus Ascended: 'Gerrit Dawson harkens back to an older vision of ministry, that of the pastor-theologian. This vision is remarkably illustrated in this beautifully written book that can properly lay claim to being practical theology.... Very highly recommended for both pastors and theologians who want to have a faith grounded in the continuing reality of the incarnation in the ascension of Jesus.' Andrew Purves, Princeton Theological Seminary 'This is a truly outstanding book for students, pastors and thinking Christians alike. I could not recommend it more enthusiastically!' Alan Torrance, St Andrew's University, UK 'A yawning gulf often appears between the interests of preacher and scholar, of pastor and theologian. Serious attempts to bridge that gulf are too few. This book is one of them. It brings to life the voice of the Fathers on the subject of the ascension of Jesus, and calls the church back to the roots of its faith.' Book The Ascension of Christ

  • Author : Patrick Schreiner
  • Publisher : Lexham Press
  • Release : 2020-07-29
  • ISBN : 1683593987
  • Pages : 90 pages

Download or read book The Ascension of Christ written by Patrick Schreiner and published by Lexham Press. This book was released on 2020-07-29 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's essential to the Gospel, but we rarely talk about it. The good news of Jesus includes his life, death, resurrection, and future return--but what about his ascension? Though often neglected or misunderstood, the ascension is integral to the gospel. In The Ascension of Christ, Patrick Schreiner argues that Jesus' work would be incomplete without his ascent to God's right hand. Not only a key moment in the Gospel story, Jesus' ascension was necessary for his present ministry in and through the church. Schreiner argues that Jesus' residence in heaven marks a turning point in his three-fold offices of prophet, priest, and king. As prophet, Jesus builds the church and its witness. As priest, he intercedes before the Father. As king, he rules over all. A full appreciation of the ascension is essential for understanding the Bible, Christian doctrine, and Christ's ongoing work in the world.

Book Jesus Ascended What Does That Mean

Download or read book Jesus Ascended What Does That Mean written by Scott Douglas and published by Ridiculously Simple Books. This book was released on 2020-11 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the Power of the Ascension. Something happened. Jesus rose. But Christ didn't just rise from the dead. He ascended to Heaven. We hear the stories about Peter and John and all the heroes of the New Testament, and they're unstoppable Christians--fearless and bold. And sometimes we wrongly assume that they just got that way. That Christ died for their sins, and bam! They're instantly changed! On the contrary, the disciples were actually quite cowardly in their actions after the Resurrection. It wasn't until after the Ascension that they were on fire for Christ. So, what happened during the forty days? Something happened. There's more written about Christ's ministry before his death than the events that happened after his Resurrection, but when we look at Ascension, we begin to see that there's power in small details. We begin to see that something happened after the Resurrection--something happened to transform the lives of believers and make them more than followers. Looking at what happened after the Resurrection, and further at the Ascension of Christ, we start to see what happened to transform the followers--and in seeing this we might just be transformed ourselves. Something did indeed happen during the forty days. Jesus was not done teaching.

Book excerpt: Selected by the Modern Library as one of the 100 best nonfiction books of all time The Gnostic Gospels is a landmark study of the long-buried roots of Christianity, a work of luminous scholarship and wide popular appeal. First published in 1979 to critical acclaim, winning the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award, The Gnostic Gospels has continued to grow in reputation and influence over the past two decades. It is now widely recognized as one of the most brilliant and accessible histories of early Christian spirituality published in our time. In 1945 an Egyptian peasant unearthed what proved to be the Gnostic Gospels, thirteen papyrus volumes that expounded a radically different view of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ from that of the New Testament. In this spellbinding book, renowned religious scholar Elaine Pagels elucidates the mysteries and meanings of these sacred texts both in the world of the first Christians and in the context of Christianity today. With insight and passion, Pagels explores a remarkable range of recently discovered gospels, including the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, to show how a variety of “Christianities” emerged at a time of extraordinary spiritual upheaval. Some Christians questioned the need for clergy and church doctrine, and taught that the divine could be discovered through spiritual search. Many others, like Buddhists and Hindus, sought enlightenment—and access to God—within. Such explorations raised questions: Was the resurrection to be understood symbolically and not literally? Was God to be envisioned only in masculine form, or feminine as well? Was martyrdom a necessary—or worthy—expression of faith? These early Christians dared to ask questions that orthodox Christians later suppressed—and their explorations led to profoundly different visions of Jesus and his message. Brilliant, provocative, and stunning in its implications, The Gnostic Gospels is a radical, eloquent reconsideration of the origins of the Christian faith.

Book Christ s Ascension and Second Coming

Download or read book Christ s Ascension and Second Coming written by Christopher Love and published by . This book was released on 2016-12-05 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christopher Love (1618-1651) was a fiery and practical Puritan preacher. Christopher Love harvests sweet biblical honey from the word of God concerning the ascension of Jesus Christ, and the coming of Christ again to judgment. Though Love carefully refutes the 1000 year earthly millennial reign of Christ, and the idea of soul sleep, he is more focused on demonstrating the benefits of Christ's ascension and second coming. His main text is John 14:3, "And if I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also." Christ's ascension is a ground of great comfort and great advantage to all his people while they dwell here on earth. Practically, no Christian should be afraid to die, because your Christ is in heaven, and when you die, as Love says, "death is but a trapdoor to let you into endless joy where Christ is."The benefits of Christ's coming to judgment, is his second topic, as much of an unpopular idea as judgment may be. Love says that the benefit of Christ's coming is the particular point Christ means when he says, "and receive you to myself." So if the Spirit that raised up Christ from the dead dwells in you, and you have the graces of the Spirit, that same Spirit shall quicken your mortal bodies. Therefore, the bodies of the elect shall be raised from the dead and received into glory with the soul when Christ returns. This is an exceedingly comforting thought for believers. Christ, at his second coming, receives his elect to himself in body and soul, that they might be forever present where Jesus Christ is in heaven, which is Christ's exhortation to believers, "that where I am there you may be also." That is, they are with Christ in heaven for eternity. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Download or read book Jesus in Time written by William C. Chappell and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2003-05-22 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The calendar dates, which are plainly documented in this book, are the exact dates that Jesus of Nazareth lived in the flesh, and performed his life and ministry upon the earth for the redemption of mankind. The dates are based on the dates of the Mosaic calendar of the Old Testament, the time prophecies of the Book of Daniel, and the narrative of the New Testament, which Jesus fulfilled during his life and ministry. This book, Jesus in Time, reveals the true and exact calendar dates of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ on our present-day Gregorian calendar. It reveals the true dates of his conception, birth, circumcision, presentation, baptism, transfiguration, last supper, gethsemane, crucifixion, entombment, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven on our Gregorian calendar. This book is composed of four parts, each of which are necessary and that complement each other. Part I deciphers the Mosaic calendar of the Old Testament. Part II reveals the hidden meaning of the time prophecies of the Book of Daniel. Part III presents the exact dates of Jesus life and ministry. Part IV bears witness to the restoration of the church of Jesus Christ in the latter-days. The knowledge of the exact dates of Jesus' life in the flesh simply serves to document his life in our human history. I sincerely hope that this knowledge will be a great blessing to all Christendom, and to all the world of mankind. May we finally know the true calendar dates of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, the scriptures on which they are based, and the truth to which they bear witness.
