Book Tribal Leadership Revised Edition

Download or read book Tribal Leadership Revised Edition written by Dave Logan and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2012-01-03 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s a fact of life: birds flock, fish school, people “tribe.” Malcolm Gladwell and other authors have written about how the fact that humans are genetically programmed to form “tribes” of 20-150 people has proven true throughout our species’ history. Every company in the word consists of an interconnected network of tribes (A tribe is defined as a group of between 20 and 150 people in which everyone knows everyone else, or at least knows of everyone else). In Tribal Leadership, Dave Logan, John King, and Halee Fischer-Wright show corporate leaders how to first assess their company’s tribal culture and then raise their companies’ tribes to unprecedented heights of success. In a rigorous eight-year study of approximately 24,000 people in over two dozen corporations, Logan, King, and Fischer-Wright discovered a common theme: the success of a company depends on its tribes, the strength of its tribes is determined by the tribal culture, and a thriving corporate culture can be established by an effective tribal leader. Tribal Leadership will show leaders how to employ their companies’ tribes to maximize productivity and profit: the author’s research, backed up with interviews ranging from Brian France (CEO of NASCAR) to “Dilbert” creator Scott Adams, shows that over three quarters of the organizations they’ve studied have tribal cultures that are adequate at best.

Book Sculpting Natural Leadership

Download or read book Sculpting Natural Leadership written by Thomas Dipaolo and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sculpting Natural Leadership takes a different view and approach to leadership study. This book will help break down the very basic principles of effective leaders, and strip away the overcomplicated and intimidating ideas that currently exist within leadership study. It will help you to identify flawed practices and concepts of leadership which should be eliminated and refocus on the basic principles of successful leaders. Sculptures are not created by constantly adding material in hopes of creating a work of art but rather by removing material. Like carving a sculpture the strategy is to carve away material that is useless, and which hides truth to reveal your vision which lies beneath. Through the process of carving away overcomplicated theories in leadership you can help identify, simplify, and refine your leadership style and enhance your effectiveness and abilities. This book focuses on internal exploration and self reflection as opposed to searching externally for new ideas, and gimmicks. Leadership is not an entitlement and is never awarded or attached to a certain position or social status. It is earned and lived through everyday actions and ideas. There is nothing complicated about being a great leader and it's a mindset that is carried naturally and extends well beyond the workplace and into all facets of life.

Book No Natural Born Leaders

Download or read book No Natural Born Leaders written by Bob Danmyer and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: INTRODUCTION Leadership, the word alone inspires thoughts of Caesar, Richard the Lion Hearted, Washington, Churchill, Eisenhower, Kennedy and Regan. Where and how did they learn leadership? Think about this, they all had military backgrounds. Of the world's great learning institutions I question how many have even attempted to teach leadership. The military teaches leadership at almost every level to those who will lead their soldiers, sailors and airmen; how many corporations do the same? More over, when have you seen a university class schedule that offered a course called Leadership 101, or Senior Leadership? A course entitled Introduction to Management is not about leadership. The words leader and manager have two very different meanings. Some people like to think that leaders are born, that the craft comes naturally, that they need no training. While it is true that some personalities are more suited to the leadership role, without training so called natural born leaders sometimes make the worst leaders. Diamonds have to be polished in order to shine! How about the world's great corporate institutions, surely they are teaching leadership. If so are they doing it at the lowest level? Where does the mechanic who gets promoted to shop foreman and suddenly put in charge get leadership training? Also, I believe with the number of people serving in the military decreasing, there is a dangerous shortage of good leaders and a growing number of bad ones. If you do not believe this, talk to your friends and family members about their immediate boss, or their company. Ask how they are being treated as workers and more importantly human beings? The answers you will hear are the primary reasons I have written "No Natural Born Leaders".

Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves. We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self-control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is profound. It deserves a second reading. This is more than about horses. It's about you." Terry Tillman, World Renowned Leadership Coach, Trainer and Best-Selling Author Natural leadership liberates your right and destiny to have a joy-filled, healthy, abundant life. 'Guru?' offers you practical keys to unlock the spiritual intelligence that enables this. It shows how skilled coaching alongside horses will help you harness your natural potential to create a sustainable future and lead the life you are meant to. This not about horses - nor about coaching, business, psychology, philosophy, physics or theology. Inspired by one man's evolving relationship with horses - and through them to the spirit in all things - it challenges all these disciplines to raise their game. It is an extraordinary work: sometimes subtle, sometimes passionate, always provocative. 'Why talk to a guru? When you can whisper to a horse' With this intriguing question, Paul Hunting challenges our assumptions and paradigms that conceal the truth of who we are. He reveals phenomenal insights into the nature of man and the universe. It will enrage those with 'sacred cows' to keep and liberate those who are truly looking for greater meaning, purpose, and joy. With his horses he both honours and cancels out the animal in us. We are left holding our true spiritual nature in the palm of our hand. While primarily intended to unleash authentic, natural leadership in sustainable businesses, he is spotlighting the cause of issues unconsciously affecting us all. 'Guru?' is a practical antidote to the primordial superstitions of religious dogma, New Age 'psychism' and the nihilistic reductionism of modern science - allequally demeaning to the true nature of the human spirit. This work is essential reading for those who really do care about a sustainable future and are willing to pick up the gauntlet to become part of the solution.
