Book Dear Digital We need to talk

Download or read book Dear Digital We need to talk written by Kristy Goodwin and published by Major Street Publishing. This book was released on 2023-01-24 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suffering with toxic tech-habits? Zoom fatigue? Digital dementia? Burnout? Many of us have adopted unhealthy and unsustainable digital habits that are not only putting a dent in our performance and productivity, they are also seriously impacting both our physical health and mental wellbeing. But it's no longer realistic to simply throw away our laptops or cancel our Netflix subscriptions. Whether we love it or loathe it, technology is here to stay. Dear Digital, We need to talk provides realistic, research-based ways to cultivate healthy and helpful digital habits that work with our brains and bodies, rather than against them. It presents a menu of practical micro-habits designed to bolster your productivity and support your wellbeing in our always-on, digitally distracted world. This book does not advocate for a #digitaldetox (in fact, it explores why detoxes don' t work), nor does it propose that you digitally amputate yourself. Instead, Dear Digital, We need to talk will help you take back control of your attention and use technology in ways that will support your performance and wellbeing, rather than stifle it.

Book XII Mediterranean Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing 2010

Download or read book XII Mediterranean Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing 2010 written by Nicolas Pallikarakis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-05-28 with total page 1070 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past three decades, the exploding number of new technologies and applications introduced in medical practice, often powered by advances in biosignal processing and biomedical imaging, created an amazing account of new possibilities for diagnosis and therapy, but also raised major questions of appropriateness and safety. The accelerated development in this field, alongside with the promotion of electronic health care solutions, is often on the basis of an uncontrolled diffusion and use of medical technology. The emergence and use of medical devices is multiplied rapidly and today there exist more than one million different products available on the world market. Despite the fact that the rising cost of health care, partly resulting from the new emerging technological applications, forms the most serious and urgent problem for many governments today, another important concern is that of patient safety and user protection, issues that should never be compromised and expelled from the Biomedical Engineering research practice agenda.

The book is divided into three parts. The first, methodological part, reviews standard methods and normatives of human ERG, reports about the advanced spatial, temporal and spectral methods of stimulation in human ERG, and deals with the analysis of the multifocal ERG signal. The second part deals with the ERG in different diseases of the human visual system and in diabetes. The third part presents the ERG in the standard animal models of human retinal disease: mouse, rat, macaque and fruitfly.
