Download or read book The Village Against the World written by Dan Hancox and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One hundred kilometers from Seville, there is a small village, Marinaleda, that for the last thirty years has been at the center of a long struggle to create a communist utopia. In a story reminiscent of the Asterix books, Dan Hancox explores the reality behind the community where no one has a mortgage, sport is played in the Che Guevara stadium and there are monthly "Red Sundays" where everyone works together to clean up the neighbourhood. In particular he tells the story of the village mayor, Sanchez Gordillo, who in 2012 became a household name in Spain after leading raids on local supermarkets to feed the Andalucian unemployed.

Book Veggie Village and the Great and Dangerous Jungle

Download or read book Veggie Village and the Great and Dangerous Jungle written by Ben R. Peters and published by Open Heart Ministries. This book was released on 2009-12 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Eat your vegetables, they're good for you." That is what good parents often tell their children. When church becomes more of a religion than a relationship, it can seem like just eating our vegetables. We are told to do good things like read our Bibles, pray and go to church because they are good for us - and they are. However, God wants to win the lost, and it is often not easy to get others to come and eat with us if we offer only vegetables. God wants us to partake of His spiritual fruit and power and then serve it to others. The jungle, with all of its dangers, provides a lot more adventure than a village that grows nothing but vegetables. People would rather live dangerously than be bored, and take their chances with the world than live what can seem like the weird existence of a small minority. But God created the church to be the most exciting place on earth, and He has given us both the fruit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as the pleasures of His very presence. This book is the result of a brief vision Ben Peters received from God. In it, you will discover how the fruit and gifts of the Spirit perfectly intertwine to reveal the nature and character of our loving God and wonderful Father, the Giver of Life.

Book Hunger Theory Perspectives and Reality

Download or read book Hunger Theory Perspectives and Reality written by Amitava Mukherjee and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hunger is an issue which has been subject to much rigorous intellectual examination by economists, philosophers, sociologists, NGOs and governments. This volume provides a critical overview of current academic and political perspectives and then compares these views from thenon-hungry people with those of thehungry particularly from a broad range of poor communities in India. Their views are gathered using participatory rural appraisal techniques and the scale of the material presented is unprecedented. Not surprisingly, the comparisons show that the perceptions of the hungry are fundamentally different from those of the non-hungry. It makes compelling suggestions about how best policy makers can attempt to eliminate hunger based on what the hungry themselves suggest. The book also draws attention to the critical role of Common Property Resources and women in the fight against under-nutrition, which have so far been largely ignored.
