Dear Vulnerable is a woman's journey to reclaim her feminine power. As a mother, business owner and manager of many family and work responsibilities, Jada was overwhelmed with burdens of perfection and self-worth. Her life was completely out of feminine energy balance. Forcing and pushing life instead of flowing with life caused numerous health and emotional challenges including divorce. Jada documented her deep self-discovery journey with love for self and for other women who want to use their feminine power to heal themselves and their relationships. "I traveled to the cliff's edge and surveyed the landscape of my life from that vantage point. It was at that lonely bluff where I heard the Creator say, 'Believe, believe, believe.' "- Author, Jada Berteaux is a soul traveler and a vulnerable free spirit. Each day within this book, she journeyed into healing and documented this for other women. She opened up her life to be in service to vulnerability and to help other women do the same. Jada is committed to rejoicing in her feminine power. Book There She Goes Again

Download or read book There She Goes Again written by Aviva Dove-Viebahn and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2023-12-15 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There She Goes Again interrogates the representation of ostensibly powerful women in transmedia franchises, examining how presumed feminine traits—love, empathy, altruism, diplomacy—are alternately lauded and repudiated as possibilities for effecting long-lasting social change. By questioning how these franchises reimagine their protagonists over time, the book reflects on the role that gendered exceptionalism plays in social and political action, as well as what forms of knowledge and power are presumed distinctly feminine. The franchises explored in this book illustrate the ambivalent (post)feminist representation of women protagonists as uniquely gifted in ways both gendered and seemingly ungendered, and yet inherently bound to expressions of their femininity. At heart,There She Goes Again asks under what terms and in what contexts women protagonists are imagined, envisioned, embodied, and replicated in media. Especially now, in a period of gradually increasing representation, women protagonists demonstrate the importance of considering how we should define—and whether we need—feminine forms of knowledge and power.

Book The Matter of Virtue

Download or read book The Matter of Virtue written by Holly A. Crocker and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2019-08-30 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If material bodies have inherent, animating powers—or virtues, in the premodern sense—then those bodies typically and most insistently associated in the premodern period with matter—namely, women—cannot be inert and therefore incapable of ethical action, Holly Crocker contends. In The Matter of Virtue, Crocker argues that one idea of what it means to be human—a conception of humanity that includes vulnerability, endurance, and openness to others—emerges when we consider virtue in relation to modes of ethical action available to premodern women. While a misogynistic tradition of virtue ethics, from antiquity to the early modern period, largely cast a skeptical or dismissive eye on women, Crocker seeks to explore what happened when poets thought about the material body not as a tool of an empowered agent whose cultural supremacy was guaranteed by prevailing social structures but rather as something fragile and open, subject but also connected to others. After an introduction that analyzes Hamlet to establish a premodern tradition of material virtue, Part I investigates how retellings of the demise of the title female character in Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde, Henryson's Testament of Cresseid, and Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida among other texts structure a poetic debate over the potential for women's ethical action in a world dominated by masculine violence. Part II turns to narratives of female sanctity and feminine perfection, including ones by Chaucer, Bokenham, and Capgrave, to investigate grace, beauty, and intelligence as sources of women's ethical action. In Part III, Crocker examines a tension between women's virtues and household structures, paying particular attention to English Griselda- and shrew-literatures, including Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. She concludes by looking at Chaucer's Legend of Good Women to consider alternative forms of virtuous behavior for women as well as men.

Download or read book Feminine Power Rising written by Gerti Schoen and published by . This book was released on 2020-06-14 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every woman has within her the strength to bring forth her own higher powers: feminine qualities like inclusivity, a deep sense of justice, balance and appreciation for all life. There is a new, eco-feminist spirituality emerging, and every woman has a role to play in this movement. This book is providing you with the tools to find the support and inner strength to develop your inner vision, and to fulfill your heart's desire in accordance with the laws of nature. The main tool for healing and expansion in this book is the imagination. Imaginal healing has been utilized by healers throughout the millennia, by shamans, spiritual teachers, and in contemporary psychotherapy as well. Carl Jung acknowledged the power of the active imagination, and the transformative effects it has on the mind. Today, science is validating through numerous studies just how effective it is. In this book, the imagination will be expanded with the help of guided meditations and dream journeys that activate the alpha and theta brainwaves. This makes deep relaxation and accessing the subconscious mind possible, and ultimately stimulates changes of the brain's neural pathways. With the help of these tools, changing the mind is no longer an abstract idea. With every chapter comes a ten minute long meditation that will bring healing and new energy.

Book French Women in Politics Writing Power

Download or read book French Women in Politics Writing Power written by Raylene L. Ramsay and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2003 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although more women in France have entered political life than ever before, the fact remains that there are fewer women representatives in the French parliament than there were after the Second World War. In a new and original approach, the author presents an overview and analysis of the emerging body of text by or on women who have held high political office in France. The argument is that writing about women and politics has not just described or reflected women's slow but now substantial entry into political life; it has played a major part in shaping the parity debate and its outcomes. Interviews with political women, such as Huguette Bouchardeau, Simone Veil or Edith Cresson, inserted in the text, demonstrate the emergence and circulation of a new common discourse focused on the issue of whether women in politics make or should make a difference. A close reading of the various texts examined in this book and their connection to new public counter-discourses in France suggest that a re-writing of power is indeed occurring.

Book The Angel in the Marketplace

Download or read book The Angel in the Marketplace written by Ellen Wayland-Smith and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2020-09-01 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The popular image of a midcentury adwoman is of a feisty girl beating men at their own game, a female Horatio Alger protagonist battling her way through the sexist workplace. But before the fictional rise of Peggy Olson or the real-life stories of Patricia Tierney and Jane Maas came Jean Wade Rindlaub: a female power broker who used her considerable success in the workplace to encourage other women—to stick to their kitchens. The Angel in the Marketplace is the story of one of America’s most accomplished advertising executives. It is also the story of how advertisers like Rindlaub sold a postwar American dream of capitalism and a Christian corporate order. Rindlaub was responsible for award-winning, mega sales-generating advertisements for all things domestic, including Oneida silverware, Betty Crocker cake mix, Campbell’s soup, and Chiquita bananas. Her success largely came from embracing, rather than subverting, the cultural expectations of women. She believed her responsibility as an advertiser was not to spring women from their trap, but to make that trap more comfortable. Rindlaub wasn’t just selling silverware and cakes; she was selling the virtues of free enterprise. By following the arc of Rindlaub’s career from the 1920s through the 1960s, we witness how a range of cultural narratives—advertising chief among them—worked powerfully to shape women’s emotional and economic behavior in support of the free market system. Alongside Rindlaub’s story, Ellen Wayland-Smith provides a riveting history of how women were repeatedly sold the idea that their role as housewives was more powerful, and more patriotic, than any outside the home. And by buying into the image of morality through an unregulated market, many of these women helped fuel backlash against economic regulation and socialization efforts throughout the twentieth century. The Angel in the Marketplace is a nuanced portrayal of a complex woman, one who both shaped and reflected the complicated cultural, political, and religious forces defining femininity in America at mid-century. This compelling account of one of advertising’s most fervent believers is a tale of a Mad Woman we haven’t been told.
