Book Breastfeeding is a Bitch

Download or read book Breastfeeding is a Bitch written by Cassi Clark and published by Cassi Clark. This book was released on 2014-09-01 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We cheer “Breastfeeding! Yay!” on social media, and around our female friends with feminist pride. But at 3 a.m. you may be cudgeling yourself with, “Oh, dear god, what have we done?” Intellectually, we all know it’s better for our babies, and instinctually, many of us want to do it. But our pregnant daydreaming does little to prepare us for the pain, frustration, self-judgment, and fear that we may experience by choosing to breastfeed. Breastfeeding can be all angels and rainbows. But more often it is an unlatching baby screaming at you, cracked nipples that feel like they’re being held in a vice-grip and licked by a cat, 3 a.m. freak-outs, explosively painful engorged boobs, flu-like mastitis. And then there’s pumping. And that is why, even considering breastfeeding makes you a saint. We tell ourselves that breastfeeding is natural, and therefore we should all be able to do it. While it is natural, it is not easy. This book is for every woman who found the truth of breastfeeding to be somewhat askew from her pre-baby fantasies, and for every woman who does not want to be taken by surprise by the latch – or lack there of. This book is not intended for diagnosis, but for entertainment and commiseration. Includes topics like: Latching onto Latching Screaming at the Breast Nursing Mothers Do it in Groups The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Pumping Woman vs the Cover And Then There Were Teeth The Bottle Battle Mastitis, Engorgement and Other Pains in the Boob

The Amazing Whitebread, who become something entirely new and occasionally borderline pathological: Real-Life Superheroes (RLSHs). "Being a singing superheroine is a way for me to not only pay the bills, it also helps me give the baddies such a headache." --Danger Woman Complete with costumes and all the gadgetry they can afford from selling old copies of Action Comics on eBay, RLSHs dish out their own brand of justice--while criminals go about their business and law enforcers roll their eyes. "Me and Shadowhare were walking past a bank and we stopped to make a phone call. As soon as we started walking away, the police came up and said, 'Do you know why we stopped you? Because you guys are wearing masks standing in front of a bank.'" --Mr. Xtreme McMullen spans the country, coach class, seeking to develop his own RLSH identity and address such weighty issues as: Sidekicks: Faithful wards or CPS bait? Bad Guys: Where the hell are they all hiding? Super-tights: How snug is too snug? So don your mask, suck in your gut, and join us. "Hey, you're with a superhero. . .what could go wrong?" --Geist, the Emerald Cowboy Michael McMullen, a.k.a. The Amazing Whitebread, was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. He earned an undergraduate degree in history and philosophy, and subsequently took the only employment option open to someone with the resultant lack of marketable skills: government service. He's worked as an intelligence analyst for the U.S. Department of Justice for just over a decade and currently lives in Arlington, Texas, with his wife, Lauren, and their children, Grant and Gracie. His hobbies include aspiring to get some woodworking done, thinking about learning a musical instrument, and trying to get interested in any computer game other than Text Twist. He has had short pieces published in various science fiction/fantasy magazines and currently holds the record for "Worst-Kept Secret Identity."

More recently I discovered his excellent fiction, a neo-noir novel titled Death In a Live Forest. Now I've come across this new novel Where Paradise Lay, a masterfully told story about colorful denizens in a remote corner of Montana opposing mining operations that threaten the environment ... and I'm hooked." —Edward Squires, Not Quite Novellas Natalie and the valley's derelicts live in a wilderness paradise, but a gold mining company is about to savage a local mountain known as Jane's Hill. Can they stop it? Probably not. But Natalie -- a woman whose attitude was sizably influenced by the life and writings of Gertrude Stein -- continues to work on the problem as she throws "sedate salons" at her Joint, a two-story lodge of rough-hewn logs, and fishes the clear streams for brookies. She knows the mine will kill the river. That's why she finds a conflict in being nice to Parker, the six-foot-tall, sandy-haired mine manager. But then there's her unresolved relationship with Jack. Sarah, the shrink from Missoula, is always reminding her of those issues. And meanwhile Painter Bob is stirring up local folk, saying they should bomb the mine. My God, what if they did?

Book I Was a Virgin When I Married Him but He Caused Me to Be Treated like a Prostitute

Download or read book I Was a Virgin When I Married Him but He Caused Me to Be Treated like a Prostitute written by Vicksay Baby Moten-Richardson and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-03-07 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Vicksay Baby Moten-Richardson; I am the last of fourteen children. I realize now why I am so different in so many ways, not in a bragging way but in a way that God has laid it on my heart to share my life in this book. Not too many people are named Baby. It was not until I was eighteen and graduating from high school when I revealed that my middle name was Baby. When the principal of the school called my name and I walked up to get my diploma, it took over ten minutes to stop the class of 1974 from laughing. What a wonderful memory that was. For many years, I felt like I was a nobody, even though forty-two years ago I bought a new home when I was twenty-two years old with my sister, and she still lives there to this day. I was voted most likely to succeed. I completed high school in three years instead of four. I was number fifty-six in a class of 560, grade-wise. I would have ranked higher, but because I was graduating a year earlier, it caused my ranking to be calculated differently from the students who had attended high school for four years. I received three four-year scholarships to the University of Arizona. I completed a twenty-four-month computerized accounting program in eighteen months while raising four extremely sickly and one very difficult foster child and while running a full-time day care from my home. I took twenty-four classes in those eighteen months and received twenty-three As and one B. Of course, I give God the glory because He is the only one who gives us strength. I was a straight-A student. Since I was in first grade, I have always assisted children with learning disabilities. However, the one thing that I am proudest of was that I married a virgin. Inside I was this sad and disappointed little girl that I thought no one would love or care for. And one more thing that I am proud of is that with the only two men I have been intimate with in my whole sixty-four years of life, I took my wedding vows first. But that same person whom I just told about filed bankruptcy several times, moved over fifty times, and lost over fifteen cars and over forty jobs, all because of pride, disobedience to God, and letting people speak negativity into my life. It is very difficult to share your weakness with the world and those whom you love and know. But it is more liberating to know that my story is going to help many people, especially women, not to make the mistakes I have made.

Book Banjawarn

    Book Details:
  • Author : Josh Kemp
  • Publisher : UWA Publishing
  • Release : 2022-02-01
  • ISBN : 1760802247
  • Pages : 452 pages

Download or read book Banjawarn written by Josh Kemp and published by UWA Publishing. This book was released on 2022-02-01 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Garreth Hoyle is a true crime writer whose destructive love affair with hallucinogenic drugs has sent him searching for ghosts in the unforgiving mallee desert of Western Australia. Heading north through Kalgoorlie, he attempts to score off old friends from his shearing days on Banjawarn Station. His journey takes an unexpected detour when he discovers an abandoned ten-year-old girl and decides to return her to her estranged father in Leonora, instead of alerting authorities. Together they begin the road trip from hell through the scorched heart of the state’s northern goldfields. Love, friendship and hope are often found in the strangest places, but forgiveness is never simple, and the past lies buried just beneath the blood red topsoil. The only question is whether Hoyle should uncover it, or run as fast as his legs can take him. Banjawarn is an unsettling debut from Josh Kemp, winner of the 2021 Dorothy Hewett Award for an Unpublished Manuscript. Echoing Cormac McCarthy’s haunting border trilogy and narrative vernacular that recalls the sparse lyricism of Randolph Stow and Tim Winton, this is a darkly funny novel that earns its place amongst the stable of Australian gothic fiction.
