Book Fresh Concrete

Download or read book Fresh Concrete written by P. Bartos and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fresh concrete is generally featured in publications on concrete technology where the focus is often on fundamental rheology or diverse research methods, or the standards describe the tests but do not provide practical advice on interpretation of the results. This book aims to fill the gap between highly scientific and fundamental works and the many fragmented test specifications. It summarises the existing knowledge on the properties of fresh concrete in a form accessible to practicing engineers and concrete technologists. It includes a manual of practical tests which cover both the standard tests in major countries and new tests specifically applicable to site testing. The testing equipment required and the procedures are described in sufficient detail for the tests to be carried out, with references to selected national standards when compliance with specific conditions applicable in those countries is required. Particular attention is paid to properties of special fresh concrete mixes which are increasingly used in practical construction. The work will be of interest to engineers and others involved in the research, development, design and execution of concrete construction, including those working in EEC countries.

Book Rheology of Fresh Cement Based Materials

Download or read book Rheology of Fresh Cement Based Materials written by Qiang Yuan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-12-28 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces fundamentals, measurements, and applications of rheology of fresh cement-based materials. The rheology of a fresh cement-based material is one of its most important aspects, characterizing its flow and deformation, and governing the mixing, placement, and casting quality of a concrete. This is the first book to bring the field together on an increasingly important topic, as new types of cement-based materials and new concrete technologies are developed. It describes measurement equipment, procedures, and data interpretation of the rheology of cement paste and concrete, as well as applications such as self-compacting concrete, pumping, and 3D printing. A range of other cement-based materials such as fiber-reinforced concrete, cemented paste backfills, and alkali-activated cement are also examined. Rheology of Fresh Cement-Based Materials serves as a reference book for researchers and engineers, and a textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students.

Book A Practical Guide to Concrete Pavement Technology for Developing Countries

Download or read book A Practical Guide to Concrete Pavement Technology for Developing Countries written by Asian Development Bank and published by Asian Development Bank. This book was released on 2021-12-01 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many countries are exploring the use of concrete to improve the reliability of their road networks. However, many developers, agencies, and companies in the construction industry do not yet have sufficient experience in the use of concrete pavement. This can lead to poorly planned, supervised, or executed infrastructure that requires premature and costly repairs or maintenance. This guide explains the factors to investigate and considerations to evaluate as well as the potential risks and mistakes to avoid when planning and constructing concrete pavement. It is a comprehensive resource that will be especially useful for stakeholders in developing countries.

Book excerpt: Thoroughly revised and updated, the third edition of this popular textbook continues to provide a comprehensive coverage of the main construction materials for undergraduate students of civil engineering and construction related courses. It creates an understanding of materials and how they perform through a knowledge of their chemical and physical structure, leading to an ability to judge their behaviour in service and construction. Materials covered include; metals and alloys, concrete, bituminous materials, brickwork and blockwork, polymers and fibre composites. Each material is discussed in terms of: structure; strength and failure; durability; deformation; practice and processing. The sections on concrete, polymers and fibre composites have been significantly revised. Descriptions of important properties are related back to the structure and forward to basic practical considerations. With its wealth of illustrations and reader-friendly style and layout Construction Materials.

Book Understanding the Rheology of Concrete

Download or read book Understanding the Rheology of Concrete written by N Roussel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-12-20 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Estimating, modelling, controlling and monitoring the flow of concrete is a vital part of the construction process, as the properties of concrete before it has set can have a significant impact on performance. This book provides a detailed overview of the rheological behaviour of concrete, including measurement techniques, the impact of mix design, and casting.Part one begins with two introductory chapters dealing with the rheology and rheometry of complex fluids, followed by chapters that examine specific measurement and testing techniques for concrete. The focus of part two is the impact of mix design on the rheological behaviour of concrete, looking at additives including superplasticizers and viscosity agents. Finally, chapters in part three cover topics related to casting, such as thixotropy and formwork pressure. With its distinguished editor and expert team of contributors, Understanding the rheology of concrete is an essential reference for researchers, materials specifiers, architects and designers in any section of the construction industry that makes use of concrete, and will also benefit graduate and undergraduate students of civil engineering, materials and construction. - Provides a detailed overview of the rheological behaviour of concrete, including measurement techniques, casting and the impact of mix design - The estimating, modelling, controlling and monitoring of concrete flow is comprehensively discussed - Chapters examine specific measurement and testing techniques for concrete, the impact of mix design on the rheological behaviour of concrete, particle packaging and viscosity-enhancing admixtures

Book Compressive Strength of Concrete

Download or read book Compressive Strength of Concrete written by Pavel Krivenko and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-03-11 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concrete made using mineral cements, the raw materials which on earth are practically endless, is known as one of the oldest building materials and during the last decades of the twentieth century has become a dominant building material for general use. At the same time, the requirements of the quality of concrete and its performance properties, in particular compressive strength, durability, economical efficiency, and low negative impact of its manufacture on the environment have not yet been completely met. Bearing these requirements in mind, researchers and engineers worldwide are working on how to satisfy these requirements. This book has been written by researchers and experts in the field and provides the state of the art on recent progress achieved on the properties of concrete, including concrete in which industrial by-products are utilized. The book is dedicated to graduate students, researchers, and practicing engineers in related fields.

Download or read book Construction Materials written by Manuel Bustillo Revuelta and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-02 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Construction Materials is a comprehensive textbook covering all raw materials and products related to the construction processes, and not only those applied to building structures. The book is organized to help readers achieve competent knowledge about construction materials. At the beginning of the book the author offers the general concepts, definitions, and standards adopted worldwide for these materials to be used along the book. The central part of the text covers the primary construction materials required to manufacture concrete and mortars, the most relevant construction materials in the last century. Expressly, concrete and mortar are treated in detail in dedicated chapters per component. In addition, the author addresses other relevant materials in construction such as ceramic materials, metals and alloys, bituminous materials, and geosynthetic materials. Finally, since the construction industry is one of the largest single waste producing sector in the world, the last chapter outlines the main types and characteristics of construction and demolition waste (e.g. recycled aggregates). The book appeals to students but also professionals interested in construction materials and construction and civil engineering.
