Download or read book Tenth District s Defining Industries How Are They Changing written by Chad R. Wilkerson and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2008-04 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The economy of the 10th Fed. Reserve Dist. (based in Kansas City, MO) has become more services-based in recent years. While this transformation has lessened many of the historical differences with the rest of the nation, the regional economy still remains distinct. What industries make the 10th Dist. so different, & what can they tell us about the future of the regional economy? This essay examines the ¿defining¿ industries of the region. It finds that the performance of a relatively small group of these industries track closely with overall job growth in each state. In other words, states whose defining industries have prospered in recent years have grown quickly overall, while states whose defining industries have struggled have grown sluggishly. Tables.

Download or read book North East England 1850 1914 written by Graeme J. Milne and published by Boydell Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of the coalfield and the riparian manufacturing districts moulded new industrial landscapes; the growth of ports and conurbations demanded innovative approaches to government and administration; and the business strategies of North East entrepreneurs challenged conventional boundaries. The author concludes that riverside districts, on the Tyne, Tees and Wear, represented more viable working horizons than any 'regional' North East in this era, and raises important questions about the study of the English regions in their historical context."--Jacket.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geological processes affect the earth itself and human society. Solutions to geological problems, whether natural or man-made, demand close international collaboration. This book presents new approaches to current problems of environmental assessment, demonstrates the interactions between those involved in addressing global problems, and represents a means for the education of others. The book focuses on four major themes: geoenvironmental models, GIS methods and techniques, assessment and resource management, and resource policies and sustainable development. The major topics falling under each theme are introduced, followed by discussions of specific applications. Reports of the discussions of working groups are also presented to round out the individual contributions. The disciplines represented include geology, geophysics, geochemistry, remote sensing, economics, biology, mining engineering, resource analysis, mathematics and statistics.
