It featured hand-coloured linocuts and blind embossed text. Ten years later, as we approach the centenary of the poem’s first publication (in the anthology Tender Buttons, 1914) Ilse revisited the project. This time, the book has been published in an edition limited to 1,000 individually numbered copies. The original artwork is faithfully reproduced on art quality paper in a small, tactile hardback.

Author Christopher J. Knight is interested in the way that the classical "covenant between word and world," now considered fractured, experienced undue pressure from the modernists' earlier project to bridge the gap. With respect to the texts named, Knight argues that there is an evinced desire to think of the work as a vertical, veridical act of discovery.
