He hates his fins and wants nothing to do with his heritage. Lucas is an ambitious merman who has lived his whole life in Atlantis. He has spent his adulthood hiding his sexuality because homosexual relationships are forbidden in the underwater city. Now he has been sent on a mission by King Nereus to locate his oldest son and bring him back to Atlantis to take his place as the heir to the throne. Although his mission seems impossible, Lucas finds help from the Atlantean Goddess of Love, little knowing that she has her own reasons for bringing Lucas and Justin together. Justin is no stranger to immortals, having been raised by two of them, but he has no idea of the consequences of angering the Goddess of Love. When he insults her, she curses him to find love only to lose it forever shortly after. As the love &‘em and leave &‘em type, Justin isn't overly concerned, at least until Lucas enters his life and he sees how the curse will end. Together they could have the greatest love of their lives, but only if they can appease the furious goddess before their time runs out.

Book Inventing the Modern Yiddish Stage

Download or read book Inventing the Modern Yiddish Stage written by Joel Berkowitz and published by Wayne State University Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Collects leading scholars' insight on the plays, production, music, audiences, and political and aesthetic concerns of modern Yiddish theater. While Yiddish theater is best known as popular entertainment, it has been shaped by its creators' responses to changing social and political conditions. Inventing the Modern Yiddish Stage: Essays in Drama, Performance, and Show Business showcases the diversity of modern Yiddish theater by focusing on the relentless and far-ranging capacity of its performers, producers, critics, and audiences for self-invention. Editors Joel Berkowitz and Barbara Henry have assembled essays from leading scholars that trace the roots of modern Yiddish drama and performance in nineteenth-century Eastern Europe and span a century and a half and three continents, beyond the heyday of a Yiddish stage that was nearly eradicated by the Holocaust, to its post-war life in Western Europe and Israel. Each chapter takes its own distinct approach to its subject and is accompanied by an appendix consisting of primary material, much of it available in English translation for the first time, to enrich readers' appreciation of the issues explored and also to serve as supplementary classroom texts. Chapters explore Yiddish theater across a broad geographical span--from Poland and Russia to France, the United States, Argentina, and Israel and Palestine. Readers will spend time with notable individuals and troupes; meet creators, critics, and audiences; sample different dramatic genres; and learn about issues that preoccupied both artists and audiences. The final section presents an extensive bibliography of book-length works and scholarly articles on Yiddish drama and theater, the most comprehensive resource of its kind. Collectively these essays illuminate the modern Yiddish stage as a phenomenon that was constantly reinventing itself and simultaneously examining and questioning that very process. Scholars of Jewish performance and those interested in theater history will appreciate this wide-ranging volume.

Book The Yard Lamp of Gloria

Download or read book The Yard Lamp of Gloria written by Aglaia Marusin and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-12-14 with total page 703 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Synoptic Anticipation My five-fold discourse commences with an outback Trek to a somewhat supernatural setting. This preparatory destination, by echelon, anticipates my nicer, statelier but more unendurable big Energy Center; designated as the glorious “Glib” megalopolis... Then, the reader is catapulted to its enormous “counterpart chorus” of something so inexpressible, and yet inchoate, as to render yardstick usage of vocabulary inadequate! But not only so- rather- in that the Plot of such outbursts skids to a standstill at the dilated disclosure of a Hypersphere! Accordingly addressed, as it were, a romantic and surreal tale of the personified Divinity- shared by my primitive gliff of Her- follows suit (instantaneously) until to no reservation. And finally- to conclude this Vision- I embark upon an ultimate frontier with that selfsame Hypersphere paramount. Precedent to deployment of The Yard Lamp of Gloria storyboard, I noticed interlink of the 1990’s at the LILCO, or Long Island Lighting Company with its fine public works of innovative energy distribution along New York’s industrial peninsula. Therein, I perused the early inception of its very vast framework of infrastructure, and how that the 120 mile “long” island has reached a zenith of such classical reputation. By this diorama- inter alia- I was able to reconsider well enough the future ramifications of street lighting, and that perhaps for its very own sake... As such, imagine a brighter Tomorrow of unparalleled “lamp entities” designed to energize us into Immortality. Indeed, the cornerstone of which paves parking lots of sacrosanct cessation; or- as shown in yon Yard Lamp of Gloria- some radiant respite to fulfill today’s anticipation still! Wherefore, our precarious din of affairs need be altered- drastically- nonetheless, if ever we are to attain the upper rung via Jacob’s Ladder! Not an impending cliché, I say, but a requisite pioneer spirit for all. Aglaia Marusin August 11, 2015
