Book excerpt: Teddy's Triumph It's a bear's job to get rid of scary viruses and monsters from nightmares. Summary "Teddy's Triumph" is a lovely story about bravery, love, and heroism. It's all about Teddy, a teddy bear with a big heart and a strong will to be brave. Teddy has been given a huge job: he has to protect the kids in Snuggleville from horrible illnesses and scary nightmare monsters all the time. Once Teddy understands how important his task is, he gathers a group of supernatural friends, each with their own special skills, to go on a wonderful and exciting adventure with him. Their goal is to gather the ingredients for a strong medicine that will keep the kids in the town safe from these dangers they can't see. After going on a wonderful adventure with his friends, Teddy and his friends face many challenges that test their bravery, wisdom, and friendship. These places include the sunny Golden Meadows, which are watched over by sneaky Gnomes, the dark Whispering Woods, and the scary peaks of Mystic Mountain. Along the way, Teddy teaches his friends and the kids from Snuggleville how important it is to be brave, how strong it is to be kind, and how much better it is to work together. These values are not only important to their job, but they can also change the community they work for. Teddy's team faces and gets past problems through failures and successes, showing how important it is to keep a steady heart and depend on each other. They do this by blending their magical skills with their strong morals. Their story shows that real bravery can come from having the guts to care, the strength to ask for help, and the ability to work with others to reach a shared goal. "Teddy's Triumph" has a great finish where Teddy and his friends use smarts and teamwork to beat the Nightmare King and get rid of the darkness that was threatening Snuggleville. The successful spread of the antidote is a celebration of friendship, community, and strength, as well as the end of the immediate threats. With its many interesting characters, exciting adventures, and important lessons, this story makes readers really understand how important it is to be brave, kind, and work together. Lots of kids around the world read this story and get motivated to believe in themselves and the things they can do when they work together. Chapter 1: Teddy’s Big Mission Teddy, a cute teddy bear, lived in Snuggleville, a cute little town with gardens full of laughter and brightly colored houses. But Teddy wasn't like other teddy bears. His heart was big and loving, and he was brave. One sunny morning, something big happened that would change Teddy's life forever. Teddy was called to the mayor of Snuggleville's office, which was full of books and pictures of all the kids in town. She gave Teddy a sad look and told him how bad things were: all the kids in Snuggleville could die from viruses and scary monsters from their nightmares. The mayor made it clear that the nightmare monsters were lurking in the dark and causing bad dreams, while the viruses were spreading silently and making kids sick. Teddy looked like the ideal hero for this important task, and the kids needed a brave guardian to look out for them. Teddy's heart started to beat fast because he was both scared and excited. Even though he knew this would be hard, the stories, hugs, and happy faces of the children made him more determined. He stood up and told the mayor, "I will protect the children. I will make Snuggleville safe again." He held out his small stuffed bear chest as proof. Teddy knew that he had to learn about viruses, how to fight them, and the systems that made the horror monsters move in order to be useful. He spent his nights reading books and talking with smart cats and owls who knew a lot about secrets. Teddy learned how to keep himself clean and avoid getting sick. He also learned that light and laughter were the two things that nightmare animals feared the most. Teddy started his journey with this knowledge. He taught the kids how to wash their hands properly and how important it is to keep the area clean. Some of the stories he told them were brave and happy, which made them feel good and made it hard for the nightmare creatures to hide. Things started to change because Teddy was kind and didn't care about himself. The kids' illnesses got better over time, and their bad thoughts turned into happy, exciting ones. No matter what time of day or night it was, Teddy worked hard and was always there to help or comfort. Even though his job was hard, Teddy kept going because he loved the kids and was dedicated to his work. He learned that no matter how small you are, if your heart is in the right place, you can make a big difference. As Teddy tried to save the children from Snuggleville, the story turned into one of bravery, kindness, and the power of care for others. Chapter 2: Getting the Group Together Even though he was brave and kind, Teddy quickly realized that protecting the kids from viruses and monsters from nightmares was too much for one teddy bear to handle. A very old tree in the park said, "Together, we are stronger." Teddy made the smart choice to find friends who could help him on his heroic quest. But not just any friends, but magical partners with special skills. First, Teddy thought about which people in Snuggleville have skills that could be useful. He then thought of Ellie the Elephant, the friendly giant from the magical forest nearby. Many people knew Ellie for her amazing magic wall skills that kept everyone inside safe from harm. Teddy knew that Ellie's coverings could keep the kids safe from diseases that can't be seen. Ellie was ready to help, so he went to see her. Ellie joined Teddy's group with a real smile, ready to use her magic to keep the Snuggleville kids safe. When this happens, Teddy needs help in strange ways and someone who can deal with the scary creatures. At that very moment, Benny the Bunny got into Teddy's mind. The rabbit Benny wasn't like other rabbits; he could go back in time! Because Benny could go back in time, they learned about the scary creatures and bugs that lived in the past. They also got a glimpse of what was to come, which helped them get ready. It was interesting to find Benny because he was always moving. Benny was happy to help Teddy when he finally went up to him. "Let's hope to it!" Teddy said with a smile, and his team got stronger right away. Benny, Ellie, and Teddy worked well together as a group. The kids were safe from viruses because of Ellie's magical shields, and Benny's time-traveling skills helped them understand and trick the nightmare monsters. He was more driven and hopeful when his new crew was with him. They both wanted to make sure that the kids in Snuggleville were safe and happy. For days, they trained and made plans, so they were ready for anything that came their way. So, with Teddy's bravery and love, Ellie's strength, and Benny's creativity, they set out on their quest to show that friends can get through anything together.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A riveting new account of Theodore Roosevelt’s impassioned crusade for military preparedness as America fitfully stumbles into World War I, spectacularly punctuated by his unique tongue-lashings of the vacillating Woodrow Wilson, his rousing advocacy of a masculine, pro-Allied “Americanism,” a death-defying compulsion for personal front-line combat, a gingerly rapprochement with GOP power brokers—and, yes, perhaps, even another presidential campaign. Roosevelt is a towering Greek god of war. But Greek gods begat Greek tragedies. His own entreaties to don the uniform are rebuffed, and he remains stateside. But his four sons fight “over there” with heartbreaking consequences: two are wounded; his youngest and most loved child dies in aerial combat. Yet, though grieving and weary, TR may yet surmount everything with one monumentally odds-defying last triumph. Poised at the very brink of a final return to the White House, death stills his indomitable spirit. In his lively, witty, blow-by-blow style, David Pietrusza captures, through the lens of the Bull Moose, the 1916 presidential campaign, America’s entry into the Great War in 1917, Woodrow Wilson’s presidency, and the last years of one of American history’s greatest men, who said on his death bed at the age of sixty, “I promised myself that I would work up to the hilt until I was sixty, and I have done it. I have kept my promise….” Pietrusza not only transports readers with his dramatic portraits of TR, his hated rival Wilson, and politics in wild flux but also poignantly chronicles the horrific price a family pays in war.

The little French girl, Lily Alouette, was singing and dancing almost as soon as she could walk, and performing became as much a part of her as breathing. When she is left an orphan in an unfamiliar country after her parents have emigrated to the goldfields, it is performing in a circus that offers survival. Later she takes to the stage in both Australia and New Zealand, which is where she attracts the attention of two men. One is the faithful Jack Lacey; the other is the renowned pirate Bully Hayes. While Jack has to compete with both Bully and the theatre to win Lily's attention, Lily finds she must share Jack, too. This lively, unconventional love story is set amid real figures from nineteenth-century theatre, giving a vivid and entertaining picture of the life of actors and circus performers, of gold miners, of horse breeders, of colonial settlers. Filtered through a unique and intriguing narrative, it is page-turning, heart-warming and full of surprises.

Book The Emily Star Collection

Download or read book The Emily Star Collection written by Lucy Maud Montgomery and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-11-13 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author, Lucy Maud Montgomery, created another and better-known representative of Canadian girlhood in "Anne of Green Gables" and all the subsequent Anne books, but Emily was closer to her own heart. Like Anne, Emily is a strong-minded, gifted, imaginative child, left alone and unprotected in a harsh world, who is taken in by adults who are at least initially cold and unloving. Both girls grow up amid the beauties of Prince Edward Island, both keenly sensitive to natural splendors and highly fanciful, not to say occasionally precious, about assigning names to lakes and trees and identifying spirits and fairies in their surroundings. Anne is an original and spunky girl, with a certain amount of talent for writing verses and romantic tales, but Emily is a writer. In the celebrated Emily trilogy, of which Emily of New Moon is the first volume, Montgomery draws a more realistic portrait of a young girl's life on Prince Edward Island. The twin threads of bright and dark, love and cruelty, hope and despair intertwine in a pattern as significant as it is enduring. In the second volume, Emily Climbs, Lucy Maud Montgomery traces the often stormy course of Emily Starr's life as she moves from the world of childhood into that of school and adolescence. Emily's Quest is the last of the Emily trilogy. After finishing Emily Climbs, Montgomery suspended writing Emily's Quest and published The Blue Castle; she resumed writing and published in 1927. Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942), was a Canadian author best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables. Montgomery went on to publish 20 novels as well as 530 short stories, 500 poems, and 30 essays.
