Book Technologies of Pre Treatments of Textile Effluents

Download or read book Technologies of Pre Treatments of Textile Effluents written by R. Senthilkumar and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-05-22 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environmental considerations are now becoming vital factors during the selection of consumer goods including textiles all over world. India's textile industries have shown a remarkable dynamism in terms of growth and export performance. This has created a very healthy atmosphere for the growth of textile sector in our country. The majority of goods exported are cotton based. However due to increased awareness of the polluting nature of textile effluents, social pressures are increasing on textile processing units and the textile processors have come in for a lot of criticism compare to remaining sector in textiles like spinning, weaving over the last decade for its association with toxic chemicals and the occasional environmental horror story has stained its image. Many more restrictions are imposed by buyers; therefore it becomes necessary to evaluate all the products and process in terms of their impact on environment and also to survive competition in global market. Hence for today's textile processor it has become absolutely necessary to take into consideration the ecological aspects in production of certain quality of goods

Book Chemical Technology in the Pre Treatment Processes of Textiles

Download or read book Chemical Technology in the Pre Treatment Processes of Textiles written by S.R. Karmakar and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1999-11-02 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Textile chemical processing today, particularly the pre-treatment processes require a highly sophisticated technology and engineering to achieve the well known concepts of "Right first time, Right everytime and Right on time" processing and production. Chemical pre-treatment may be broadly defined as a procedure mainly concerned with the removal of natural as well as added impurities in fabric to a level necessary for good whiteness and absorbency by utilising minimum time, energy and chemicals as well as water. This book discusses the fundamental aspects of chemistry, chemical technology and machineries involved in the various pre-treatment process of textiles before subsequent dyeing, printing and finishing. With the introduction of newer fibres, specialty chemicals, improved technology and sophisticated machineries developed during the last decade, this book fills a gap in this area of technology. However, its real strength is its clear perception of ample background description, which will enable readers to understand most current journals, thus staying abreast of the latest advances in the field.

Book excerpt: With the public enhanced awareness towards eco-preservation, eco-safety and health concerns, environmentally benign, nontoxic and sustainable bioresource materials produced mainly from non-food crops have revolutionized all industrial sectors particularly textile industry. In recent years, textile industries in developed countries are getting increasing interest in global interest due to the varied and changing world market conditions in terms of price, durability and fiber mixtures as well as design, colors, weight, ease of handling and product safety. The increasing environmental and health concerns owing to the use of large quantities of water and hazardous chemicals in conventional textile finishing processes lead to the design and development of new dyeing strategies and technologies. Effluents produced from these textiles wet processing industries are very diverse in chemical composition, ranging from inorganic finishing agents, surfactants, chlorine compounds, salts, total phosphate to polymers and organic products. This aspect forced western countries to exploit their high technical skills in the advancements of textile materials for high quality technical performances, and development of cleaner production technologies for cost effective and value-added textile materials. Therefore, vast and effective research investigations have been undertaken all over the world to minimize the negative environmental impact of synthetic chemical agents through the sustainable harvest of eco-friendly bioresource materials. The book will discuss following research developments in academic and industry: Improvement in dye extraction and its applications Impact of textile dyeing on environment Textile finishing by natural and ecofriendly means Natural dyes as environmental-friendly bioresource products Textile effluent remediation via physical, chemical and biological processes.

Download or read book A Review of State of the Art Technologies in Dye Containing Wastewater Treatment The Textile Industry Case written by Serkan Arslan and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, new single or hybrid/combined processes have attracted much attention for treatment of textile and dyeing wastewaters. These processes which may be termed as "state of the art technologies" are membrane separation processes, ultrasonic, photochemical and electrochemical processes. Although the conventional methods still have been tried with some new materials such as, new adsorbents or coagulants, employing the new generation methods such as, electrocagulation-electrooxidation, sonooxidation or photo oxidation are gaining in popularity when the treatment of textile wastewaters is discussed. The purpose of the book chapter is to bring an overview on the new treatment methods for textile wastewaters, one of the most important source of environmental pollution. Despite the fact that there is no uniform standard currently, many countries have legalized some strict discharging standards and scientists and researchers face new technologies including electrical, sonic, magnetic, optical and thermal methods. Although many researches on treatment of synthetic or real wastewaters with various methods are available, very few researches have been carried out on the cutting-edge technologies. Moreover, there are a lot of review article or book chapters on textile wastewater treatment processes individually based on each conventional process such as coagulation, adsorption, chemical oxidation, and biological decolourization. Therefore, in this part of the book, following major and minor titles are stated truly on the aforementioned new technologies. Besides, these parts are not only about cutting-edge technologies, but also related with conventional methods and their new applications in coloured wastewater treatment area briefly.
