This book was released on 2015-12-03 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book is based on basic research carried out to find out the technological gap in adoption of sugarcane production technology and constraint facing by farmers to applying these technologies in real field conditions. Some suggestions are also made to make profitable sugarcane cultivation as finding of the study. This book is highly useful to agriculture professional, researcher, scholars, academicians, policy makers, input dealers and development practitioners to aware about problem and their remedies of sugarcane growers. The component wise technological gap and extent of adoption was the main focusing areas. All the important technological component as high yielding varieties, seed rate and treatment, time of sowing, method of sowing, irrigation, fertilizer application, weed control and plant protection measures were selected to this purpose. The effects of socio-personal and techno-eco variables on technological gap were also identified and quantified on level of significance on one degree of freedom and level of significance on five degree of freedom. The sampling procedure of the respondents was simple and having a wide range with covering two districts of main sugarcane

Book Agro industrial Perspectives on Sugarcane Production under Environmental Stress

Download or read book Agro industrial Perspectives on Sugarcane Production under Environmental Stress written by Krishan K. Verma and published by Springer. This book was released on 2023-01-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume focuses on the core aspects of sugarcane production-management under stressful environments as well as innovative strategies for augmenting crop growth & productivity through intrinsic and extrinsic manipulations. The various chapters aim at bringing out comprehensive and advance information on different aspects of sugarcane cultivation under stress environments and impact of climate change on the sustainability of sugarcane production. The book encompasses information about crop production management, physiological & nutritional requirements, ratooning, ripening and post-harvest losses management. It also delineates various technologies that support the continued use and improvement of sugarcane as renewable source of food, fiber and bio-energy. The manipulations at cellular and molecular levels, molecular breeding approaches and post-harvest technologies are also included. The area under sugarcane cultivation is gradually increasing because of its diversification potential. The high productivity and biomass of the cane crop also makes it a key source for use as bio-energy crop and a promising raw material for bio-based agro-industries. However, poor crop & biomass productivity due to abiotic stress is the foremost constraint in its future commercial exploitation as sustainable feed-stock for bio-based industries. It is therefore imperative to understand the cellular-molecular modulation responsible to productivity barrier under specific stress situation(s) for better sugarcane quality and quantum under field condition. Some of these innovative approaches are delineated in this book. This book is of interest to progressive sugarcane growers, millers, industrial entrepreneurs, sugarcane scientists, cane development and extension officers, sugar industry managers and valuable source of reference worldwide.

Book Sustainable Sugarcane Production

Download or read book Sustainable Sugarcane Production written by Priyanka Singh and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-03-21 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sugarcane crop, one of the most important crops commercially grown in about 115 countries of the world, faces a number of problems, such as low cane productivity, biotic and abiotic stresses, high cost of cultivation, postharvest losses, and low sugar recovery. This volume addresses these issues and provides a comprehensive account of the major advancements in sugarcane research. The book is compilation of recent achievements in sugarcane development and cultivation. It covers a number of improvements made in cane and sugar yield using both conventional and new biotechnological approaches by agricultural scientists and researchers. The comprehensive coverage includes sustainable sugarcane cultivation, development, and management of sugarcane production, covering farming and biotechnology, entomology, pathology, breeding, physiology, biotechnology, agronomy, seed production, and more. It also presents research on modern crop production methods in a comprehensive and easily understood manner. With chapters from expert researchers from internationally renowned institutes (primarily in India), the volume presents the latest information from the literature at the international level to make it usable to many agroecological regions of the world. It will be a valuable resource for agronomists, breeders, plant physiologists, farmers, and students of agricultural sciences.

Book Yield gap analysis of field crops

Download or read book Yield gap analysis of field crops written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and published by Food & Agriculture Org.. This book was released on 2018-06-29 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To feed a world population that will exceed 9 billion by 2050 requires an estimated 60% increase over current primary agricultural productivity. Closing the common and often large gap between actual and attainable crop yield is critical to achieve this goal. To close yield gaps in both small and large scale cropping systems worldwide we need (1) definitions and techniques to measure and model yield at different levels (actual, attainable, potential) and different scales in space (field, farm, region, global) and time (short and long term); (2) identification of the causes of gaps between yield levels; (3) management options to reduce the gaps where feasible and (4) policies to favour adoption of sustainable gap-closing solutions. The aim of this publication is to critically review the methods for yield gap analysis, hence addressing primarily the first of these four requirements, reporting a wide-ranging and well-referenced analysis of literature on current methods to assess productivity of crops and cropping systems.
