This book was released on 2021-05-06 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the study guide and textbook for the TCO Certified Telecommunications Network Specialist (CTNS) Certification, conforming to the lessons in the eight CTNS courses and their exams: 2241 Introduction to Broadband Converged IP Telecom 2206 Wireless Telecommunications 2221 Fundamentals of Voice over IP 2201 The PSTN 2212 OSI Layers and Protocol Stacks 2211 LANs, VLANs, Wireless and Optical Ethernet 2213 IP Addresses, Packets and Routers 2214 MPLS and Carrier Networks The selection of material, its order, timing, and explanations are field-tested to deliver the core knowledge set for today’s telecommunications. The courses deliver a solid foundation of knowledge in broadband, telecom, datacom and networking: the fundamentals, technologies, jargon and buzzwords, standard practices and most importantly, the underlying ideas, and how it all fits together… with TCO Certification to prove it! The first four CTNS courses are on telecommunications, beginning with Introduction to Broadband Converged IP Telecom, an introduction and first pass through all of the topics; followed by Wireless Telecommunications, then Introduction to Voice over IP, and The PSTN. The second half of CTNS is four courses focusing on the three main enabling technologies for the modern telecom network: Ethernet, IP and MPLS. We begin with the OSI model and its Layers to establish a framework for understanding what each does and how they work together... and all the other things that have to be done. This book is intended to enhance your learning and retention while taking the online courses. It is also useful as a day-to-day reference handbook and glossary. Our goal is to explain the big picture, the jargon and buzzwords, and put in place a very solid base of telecom knowledge spanning fundamentals to the latest technologies and how they are deployed – in plain English. Let's get started!

Integrated Pest Management answers the question `how do you devise, develop and implement a practical IPM system which will fully meet the real needs of farmers?'. The term `pest' in this book is used in its broadest sense and includes insects, pathogens, weeds, nematodes, etc. The book commences by outlining the basic principles which underlie pest control (crop husbandry, socio-economics, population ecology and population genetics) and reviews the control mesures available and their use in IPM systems. Subsequent chapters cover the techniques and approaches used in defining a pest problem, programme planning and management, systems analysis, experimental paradigms and implementation of IPM systems. The final seciton of the book contains four chapters giving examples of IPM in different cropping systems, contributed by invited specialists and outlining four different perspectives. Integrated Pest Management will be of great use to agricultural and plant scientists, entomologists, aracologists and nematologists and all those studying crop protection, particularly at MSc level and above. It will be particularly useful for, and should find a place on the shelves of all personnel within the agrochemical industry, universities and research establishments working in this subject area and as a reference in libraries for students and professionals alike.

Book The Common Information Model CIM

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the Smart Grid, the combination of automation equipment, communication technology and IT is crucial. Interoperability of devices and systems can be seen as the key enabler of smart grids. Therefore, international initiatives have been started in order to identify interoperability core standards for Smart Grids. IEC 62357, the so called Seamless Integration Architecture, is one of these very core standards, which has been identified by recent Smart Grid initiatives and roadmaps to be essential for building and managing intelligent power systems. The Seamless Integration Architecture provides an overview of the interoperability and relations between further standards from IEC TC 57 like the IEC 61970/61968: Common Information Model - CIM. CIM has proven to be a mature standard for interoperability and engineering; consequently, it is a cornerstone of the IEC Smart Grid Standardization Roadmap. This book provides an overview on how the CIM developed, in which international projects and roadmaps is has already been covered and describes the basic use cases for CIM. This book has been written for both Power Engineers trying to get to know the EMS and business IT part of Smart Grid and for Computer Scientist finding out where ICT technology is applied in EMS and DMS Systems. The book is divided into two parts dealing with the theoretical foundations and a practical part describing tools and use cases for CIM.

Book Product Placement

Download or read book Product Placement written by Johanna Bueß and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2004-06-04 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: Product placement has become increasingly common in recent years. This paper analyses the practice of placing brands in films and television programmes from different perspectives. From the marketers point of view the development of product placement as a marketing communication instrument is analysed. It is also shown how filmmakers can use it to add realism to a film and save production costs. Putting the product placement strategy into practice is found to be a complex process. Furthermore, the way of compensation varies from case to case. The analysis of costs per thousand reveals that product placement is a cost-effective marketing communication instrument. This analysis of the marketers and the filmmakers point of view is supported by interviews with marketing departments, product placement agencies and film production companies. On the other hand viewers ethical concerns about product placement are investigated and it is studied how they are included in legal restrictions. The outcome is that there are some areas with no regulations and areas with rules that have limitations. Therefore, recommendations for improvement are made. Also, ways are established how marketers can take viewers concerns into consideration when placing their brand in a film. Finally the effectiveness of product placement in marketing communications is analysed on the basis of academic research. It is found that product placement can be successful in regard to brand recall and recognition and to some extent in regard to brand attitude and purchasing behaviour. However, the effectiveness depends on the type and exposure time of the placement, the kind of film and supporting advertising. Summing up, product placement can be used effectively for marketers and filmmakers, while not having predominantly negative effects on viewers. However, this is only the case when it is planned carefully and a number of aspects are taken into consideration. Book Construction Safety Management Systems

Download or read book Construction Safety Management Systems written by Steve Rowlinson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2004-04-29 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The construction industry has a distressingly poor safety record, whether measured in absolute terms or alongside other industries. The level of construction safety in a country is influenced by factors such as variations in the labour forces, shifting economies, insurance rates, legal ramifications and the stage of technological development. Yet the problem is a world-wide one, and many of the ways of tackling it can be applied across countries. Effective tools include designing, preplanning, training, management commitment and the development of a safety culture. The introduction and operation of effective safety management systems represents a viable way forwards, but these systems are all too rarely implemented. How can this be done? Should we go back to prescriptive legislation? This book considers these questions by drawing together leading-edge research papers from the proceedings of an international conference conducted by a commission (W099) on Safety and Health on Construction Sites of CIB, the international council of building research organisations.

Written by a leading expert on operational risk measurement, this important work puts forth a cradle-to-grave hands-on approach that concentrates on measurement of risk in order to provide the needed feedback for managing and mitigating it. Using both theoretical and practical material, he lays out a foundation theory that can be applied and refined for application in the financial sector and beyond which includes a new technique called Delta-EVT(trademark). This technique is a combination of two existing methods which provides for the complete measurement of operational risk loss. The book contains comprehensive step-by-step descriptions based on real-world examples, formulas and procedures for calculating many common risk measures and building causal models using Bayesian networks, and background for understanding the history and motivation for addressing operational risk.
