Savvy individual investors can use the same techniques to protect themselves. In this indispensable guide, Robert Gordon, a Wall Street veteran, shares the strategies of an insider to demonstrate how you can use the tax laws to your advantage. Written in plain English, this book explains federal and state tax considerations that investors need to know to make the most tax-efficient choices and to protect their portfolios. The emphasis is on practical application, aimed at guiding you to specific, accessible tax-saving goals without having to wrestle down the entire Internal Revenue Code. Thanks to the talents of Gordon and respected journalist Jan M. Rosen, this book is clearly organized along transactional lines, offering easy entry for busy readers and allowing investors to zero in on a powerful array of proven, tax-minimizing techniques and strategies. Book Tax Advantaged Wealth

Download or read book Tax Advantaged Wealth written by Law Steeple MBA and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2012-12-12 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grow your wealth with NO taxes or commissions.Use 10 mutual funds that have earned over 10%. Use a special tax haven for your earnings and gains.“My wealth has come from a combination of living in America, some lucky genes, and compound interest.” Warren Buffett, billionaire investor. He pays only 17% total tax on his income: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu5B-2LoC4s. Many wealthy people pay less than we do. How can that be? No matter how much we earn, it is better to pay NO taxes and NO commissions so our money can compound at over 10% per year. Compounding high investment earnings is “the most powerful force in the universe.” Compounding is money earning money on its earnings over time. Simple but powerful and no tax. When you invest $250 a month, $3,000 a year, in successful businesses, you earn more than a bank CD. After 10 years, you have more than the $30,000 because the businesses paid dividends and the market bid up the value of your shares of the businesses. See chart below. After 20 years, you could have over $200,000 and after 40 years, over $2,000,000. Over time, stocks of growing businesses are the safest investment. Compounding is key.

Download or read book Tax Efficient Investing written by Reto Gallati and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-06-11 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tax Efficient Investing offers a comprehensive road map for investors to create a tax-advantaged investment strategy by following simple steps to become a more tax-efficient investor. Most individual investors tend to make investment decisions purely based on future expected returns and consider the tax-consequences only after the fact. Is it possible to keep more of what you earn on your investments? In the end, what matters is how much you keep, not how much you earn. Tax law changes you need to know about for 2013! As 2013 rang in, so did a significant number of changes to the tax laws. All important changes for tax year 2013 (referring to investment related topics) are included in this book. That includes e.g. the additional Medicare tax, new (and higher) income tax brackets, the Net Investment Income Tax of 3.8%, updated details about capital gain tax rates, exemptions, deductions etc. You will learn how to: * Allocate assets among investments that have different tax-treatments; * Utilize tax structures provided by the tax code (e.g. 401(k), Roth IRA, 529 colleague savings, etc.) to maximize your long-term investment returns; * Intentionally realize gains and losses. We should think about taxes throughout the year as part of the investment process, not just in the days and weeks before we file the tax return. In Tax Efficient Investing we examine the basic framework of individual taxation in the United States as it relates to investing. Unlike death, taxation can at least be minimized. Tax Efficient Investing explores tax-efficient investing-strategies designed specifically to minimize the negative impact taxes can have, particularly on long-term savings and investment returns. Many investors employ tax-advantaged strategies, but these are not the same as building a tax-efficient portfolio. In a tax-efficient portfolio, assets are diversified among taxable, tax-deferred, and tax-free accounts to reduce tax exposure. The tax-efficient investor takes intentional steps when realizing gains and losses, and allocates assets among investments that have differing tax treatments. Tax efficiency is especially crucial in a retirement savings portfolio where you may gain a material advantage by strategically drawing down certain assets before others. Although this publication is not a comprehensive guide to the U.S. tax code, it does offer a number of strategies and specific investment ideas that may help you enhance your long-term investment returns by carefully managing your tax liability. Every investment decision has a tax consequence. This book is not about how to cheat - we are not giving you any advice in that direction. We believe it's important for you to take a holistic view of your investment choices. We include taxes as given, not as an evil factor. By embracing taxes as part of our investment environment, we tend to make better choices than trying to avoid or ignore them. The taxes we pay on investment earnings can meaningfully affect long-term returns. A tax-efficient portfolio includes investments and account types with differing tax treatments. It includes, as well, strategies supported in the tax code such as loss recognition to offset another return or income. The strategic choice of asset allocation and securities, such as municipal bonds in a brokerage account vs. a Roth IRA, can systematically increase your return. The benefits from using these tax structures provided by the tax code (e.g. 401(k), Roth IRA, 529 colleague savings, etc.) can lead to substantial savings overtime. Tax Efficient Investing is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to the complex U.S. tax code. Rather, this book may help you make better and informed tax-related decisions when it comes to investing. It allows you to plan ahead and include taxes as a factor to generate sustainable returns. Many additional unique situations and circumstances may apply to you as a reader, which is why it is important to work with a tax advisor.

Book Formulate a Tax Efficient Dividend Strategy for Retirement

Download or read book Formulate a Tax Efficient Dividend Strategy for Retirement written by Caroline K. Craig and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the advent of tax-favored treatment for qualified dividend income, investment and withdrawal strategies for retirees with both taxable accounts and IRAs have become more complex. This article discusses the reduced-rate structure that now applies to qualified dividend income, and provides several comprehensive examples illustrating how best to allocate dividend-yielding securities among taxable accounts, traditional IRAs, and Roth IRAs. For most retirees in most situations, the highest-yielding securities should be held in the most tax-efficient accounts and the lowest-yielding securities in the least tax-efficient vehicles. Tax-efficient withdrawal strategies turn, in part, on whether the retiree needs all or part of his or her dividend income to meet living expenses. While tax-efficient investment and withdrawal strategies remain important to the overall goal of after-tax wealth maximization, retirees should not sacrifice investment diversification for tax efficiency. Similarly, retirees should manage individual stocks in their retirement years only to the extent that they did so during the asset-accumulation phase of their lives. Otherwise, investing in low-cost, diversified mutual funds could prove more advantageous, overall. In the end, retirees should strive to maintain a well-managed, low-cost, diversified investment portfolio that is also tax-efficient.
