Download or read book Once Again written by Gene Ligotti and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2023-02-08 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In any person of advancing age, I doubt he or she has never said ... Knowing what I know now, I wish I could live my life over again. Foolishness? True, but still ... it’s a nice thought to linger over. The story within this novel, Once Again, relates to that engaging wish. We have two heroes in this novel and both are in the same person. That made the writing difficult at times, but I feel I made it work. Michael and Barth begin as totally different people with different minds sets ... one is a good and decent man and the other cares little for others. He gambles, carouses with women of ill repute, his curses would make a sailor blush and he, at times, hangs out with bottom feeders. Still there is something endearing about him and the two together make an interesting pair. Will this second life turn out differently than the first or does disaster wait. I feel the characters are real and interesting and at times the reader will wonder who is controlling who. As usual in my novels I have taken ordinary people and placed them in extraordinary situations. I doubt that this story line has been used before in this manner and I do hope you enjoy ... One Again.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: South Africans of all races remember the moment when Neil Tovey raised the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 1996, with Nelson Mandela at his side wearing his number 9 jersey. It still represents South Africa’s greatest success in international football. In his long-awaited autobiography, Tovey tells his fascinating life story, describing his modest upbringing in Durban, his entry to a mainly black sport in a deeply segregated 1980s South Africa, and his time as captain of Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana. He recalls his introduction to ‘muti’ rituals by team members and his growing popularity among Chiefs supporters, who nicknamed him Mokoko (boss chicken). Tovey also writes about his experiences as a coach and as technical director of the South African Football Association (SAFA), and shares his insights about the state of the sport today. He talks frankly about his family life and about surviving two heart attacks, and gives insights into leadership and success. This book will appeal to all football fans, but it is also a fascinating story of a man who has lived a truly South African life.

Ben is a self-confessed drug addict, whose drug binges would last for days and involve incredible amounts of cocaine, crack and ice. But what's really remarkable about Ben's story is that the two sides of his life - the captaincy, the premierships, the Brownlow, the accolades, and the frenzy and squalor of the drug scene were actually done at the same time, side by side.

Book excerpt: An aspiring young journalist stuck blogging for a gossip site stumbles across a story that gives new meaning to the word legendary from "master wordsmith" award-winning author, Gwendolyn Zepeda (Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, New York Times bestselling author of The Dirty Girls Social Club). If she can find the time, Sandy Saavedra will stop to breathe. New management has turned work upside down and her father's upcoming marriage-something he forgot to mention to Sandy-means there's no peace at home, either. But it's okay. No matter what's thrown her way, Sandy can deal. Because Sandy has a secret, and his name is Tío Jaime. A short drive out of Austin delivers Sandy into the wide-open spaces of the Hill Country, to the front porch of grandfatherly hermit Tío Jaime. There, in the company of pepper plants, a shaggy dog, and fresh squeezed lemonade, the old man imparts down-to-earth advice. Overbearing boss? Work smarter; she'll leave you alone. Disrespectful boyfriend? Pack your bags; a real woman tolerates only a real man. His simple perspective reminds Sandy she can make her own choices-something she's been forgetting lately. Feeling inspired, Sandy posts their chats online. But as she introduces the world to her personal Eden, her own life heads straight to hell . . .
