Book Advanced Information Networking and Applications

Download or read book Advanced Information Networking and Applications written by Leonard Barolli and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-26 with total page 797 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the theory, design and applications of computer networks, distributed computing and information systems. Networks of today are going through a rapid evolution, and there are many emerging areas of information networking and their applications. Heterogeneous networking supported by recent technological advances in low-power wireless communications along with silicon integration of various functionalities such as sensing, communications, intelligence and actuations is emerging as a critically important disruptive computer class based on a new platform, networking structure and interface that enable novel, low-cost and high-volume applications. Several of such applications have been difficult to realize because of many interconnections problems. To fulfill their large range of applications, different kinds of networks need to collaborate, and wired and next-generation wireless systems should be integrated in order to develop high-performance computing solutions to problems arising from the complexities of these networks. The aim of the book “Advanced Information Networking and Applications” is to provide latest research findings, innovative research results, methods and development techniques from both theoretical and practical perspectives related to the emerging areas of information networking and applications.

Book excerpt: Pull up a seat, couch, heck lay on the floor for all I care. Thing is I have a story to tell and Id prefer if youd pay attention. My three best friends and I were viciously ripped from our childhood homes and thrown violently into a snob infested boarding school okay so I was bribed with a large inheritance and talked my friends into coming with. Point is, once we get there we create mass chaos for the school and all those in attendance. I mean this ranges from starting a prankster war, dealing with drug abuse and anger issues, to on again/off again relationships. Needless to say there hasnt been a dull moment since we stepped through those doors. How bout you just decide that for yourselves though?

Book Near Field Communication

Download or read book Near Field Communication written by Sheli McHugh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Near Field Communication is a radio frequency technology that allows objects, such as mobile phones, computers, tags, or posters, to exchange information wirelessly across a small distance. This report on the progress of Near Field Communication reviews the features and functionality of the technology and summarizes the broad spectrum of its current and anticipated applications. We explore the development of NFC technology in recent years, introduce the major stakeholders in the NFC ecosystem, and project its movement toward mainstream adoption. Several examples of early implementation of NFC in libraries are highlighted, primarily involving the use of NFC to enhance discovery by linking books or other physical objects with digital information about library resources, but also including applications of NFC to collection management and self-checkout. Future uses of NFC in libraries, such as smart posters or other enhanced outreach, are envisioned as well as the potential for the "touch paradigm" and "Internet of things" to transform the ways in which library users interact with the information environment. Conscious of the privacy and security of our patrons, we also address continuing concerns related to NFC technology and its expected applications, recommending caution, awareness, and education as immediate next steps for librarians.

Book Survey of English Dialects

Download or read book Survey of English Dialects written by Michael V. Barry and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-08 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 1994. The Survey of English Dialects (SED) is the only detailed nation-wide dialect survey which has ever been conducted in England. The SED is a unique repository of data on the traditional dialects of England in the mid-twentieth century. This remarkable record is a valuable resource for scholars in the fields of British English dialectology, sociolinguistics, and English historical linguistics. The SED fieldwork was undertaken in predominantly rural communities in England in the middle of the twentieth century, at a time when social, domestic and working life was undergoing very significant changes. The SED is thus a record of speech which reflects a society different in many ways from today, and as such affords the possibility of comparison which is instructive to those engaged in all types of study of linguistics today.

Book Mechanochemical Processes in Energetic Materials

Download or read book Mechanochemical Processes in Energetic Materials written by Adam A. L. Michalchuk and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-23 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses experimental and computational methods to rationalize and predict for the first time the relative impact sensitivities of a range of energetic materials. Using knowledge of crystal structures, vibrational properties, energy-transfer mechanisms, and experimentally measured sensitivities, it describes a model that leads to excellent correlation with experimental results in all cases. As such, the book paves the way for a new, fully ab initio approach for the design of safer energetic materials based solely on knowledge of their solid-state structures. Energetic materials (explosives, propellants, gas generators, and pyrotechnics) are defined as materials that release heat and/or gaseous products at a high rate upon stimulus by heat, impact, shock, sparks, etc. They have widespread military and civilian uses, including munitions, mining, quarrying, demolition, emergency signaling, automotive safety, and space exploration. One of their most important properties is sensitivity to accidental initiation during manufacture, transport, storage, and operation, which has important implications for their safe use.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new collection of short fiction by Richard Hollman: Tagz: From the window of the Boston commuter train, Penelope Zhu sees things that simply aren't possible. The graffiti on the walls, dumpsters, freight cars and bridges hold messages directed specifically at her, and whoever wrote them knows things no one could possibly know. Who or what could the artist be? And what do they want from her? Throwaways: On the streets of any city, there are those whom most people try to ignore: the poor, the homeless, people damaged in mind and body. Many of these are not at all what they seem, and for them, the tendency of people to look away serves their purposes very well. A few of them are victims of a different sort, abandoned in a way that onlookers would never guess. Self Storage: Uncle Henry's death was not mourned by his family, but it was up to his nephew to settle his affairs. The storage locker that Uncle Henry left behind was not really his nephew's business. But when his curiosity got the better of him, he found out why his uncle was so hated by those who knew him best. The Mists of Nantong: Alan Whitfield, on a business trip in China, longs for distraction from the pain of a recent personal tragedy. In the city streets, he is surrounded by sights that belong to a different plane of existence just barely out of reach. To understand this shadow world, he must confront his most desperate desires and his worst nightmares. Solitary: A medieval knight pursues a quest to rid the kingdom of its most dangerous enemy, the Trickster. At his moment of triumph, he discovers that the Trickster's powers of illusion go deeper than he ever imagined. The Barrow: All across Europe one can find 'barrows': earthen mounds containing the graves of medieval warriors, buried along with their weapons, their armor, and other treasures. It is always assumed that this style of burial was a mark of great honor. But consider another possibility... The Trunk: Marty Ellison is cleaning out his family's Newport mansion prior to a sale, when he discovers an old steamer trunk in a hidden section of the attic. The shocking secret that he finds inside will change everything he knows about his family, and himself. All In a Day's Work: Goss is the only one in his village who realizes that their sun is dying. On a pilgrimage to beg the Gods for help, he witnesses a process beyond his comprehension.
