Book Novel Single site Titanosilicates with Targeted Connectivity and Nuclearity of Titanium IV

Download or read book Novel Single site Titanosilicates with Targeted Connectivity and Nuclearity of Titanium IV written by Nan Chen and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Titanosilicates are a family of porous materials that have shown excellent catalytic activity in olefin epoxidation and many other selective oxidation reactions. These materials have been extensively studied in the past few decades. One of the central questions in these investigations has been to define the catalytically active centers. The traditional synthesis of wet impregnation followed by calcination often produces more than one type of catalytic center within the same matrix, i.e. different coordination, connectivity and nuclearity. Each type potentially possesses unique catalytic activity. Co-existence of multiple catalytic centers makes it impossible to establish the relationship between the structure of titanium center and catalytic activity. The goal of this research was to establish a structure-function relationship in titanosilicate materials through targeted synthesis of single-site nanostructured catalysts, in which titanium centers are isolated from one another while possessing the uniform structure. A building block synthetic methodology was utilized to prepare a series of catalysts, namely 2-connected (2C), 3-connected (3C), 4-connected (4C) and tetranuclear (Ti4 [subscript 4]) titanium catalysts. These materials were characterized in detail via gravimetric analysis, solid state NMR, diffuse reflectance UV spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, BET surface area and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES and EXAFS). Catalytic activity of each catalyst was examined in the oxidation of 2, 3, 6-trimethylphenol with aqueous hydrogen peroxide to give the corresponding benzoquinone. Under identical conditions, high to mediocre catalytic activity has been observed in a sequence of Ti4 [subscript 4]> 2C> 3C H"4C, in terms of both conversion and selectivity. All synthesized catalysts showed excellent stability and recyclability with aqueous hydrogen peroxide at elevated temperature. A structure-function relationship was therefore developed through targeted synthesis of novel single-site titanosilicate catalysts.

Download or read book MWW Type Titanosilicate written by Peng Wu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-04 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive review of a new generation of selective oxidation titanosilicate catalysts with the MWW topology (Ti-MWW) based on the research achievements of the past 12 years. It gives an overview of the synthesis, structure modification and catalytic properties of Ti-MWW. Ti-MWW can readily be prepared by means of direct hydrothermal synthesis with crystallization-supporting agents, using dual-structure-directing agents and a dry-gel conversion technique. It also can be post-synthesized through unique reversible structure transformation and liquid-phase isomorphous substitution. The structural conversion of Ti-MWW into the materials usable for processing large molecules is summarized. Taking advantage of the structure diversity of the lamellar precursor of Ti-MWW, it can be fully or partially delaminated, and undergo interlayer silylation to obtain a novel structure with larger porosity. In the selective oxidation (alkene epoxidation and ketone/aldehyde ammoximation) with hydrogen peroxide or organic peroxide as an oxidant, the unique catalytic properties of Ti-MWW are described in comparison to conventional titanosilicates such as TS-1 and Ti-Beta.

Book Zeolites and Mesoporous Materials at the Dawn of the 21st Century

Download or read book Zeolites and Mesoporous Materials at the Dawn of the 21st Century written by A. Galarneau and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-08-13 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Zeolites and Mesporous Materials at the Dawn of the 21st Century Proceedings are the expression of the oral and poster communications which where presented during the 13th International Zeolite Conference (IZC). They are subdivided into 32 thematic sessions starting from the genesis of materials to their applications through their characterisation. The paper volume contains the full texts of the 5 plenary and 6 keynote lectures and informative summaries of 150 oral and 540 poster presentations. These contributions have been selected among the 903 submissions received from a total of 57 countries! In order to gather all the communications in a handy document, the full texts of oral and poster presentations are available in CD-ROM. Besides the fields of zeolite science always represented at IZC (synthesis, characterisation, catalysis, etc¿), some subjects strengthened their position (mesoporous materials, theory and modelling), new areas emerge (advanced materials, environmental and life sciences) and older ones regain interest (natural zeolites). The understanding and development of the unique properties of porous materials relies on a unique blend of multidisciplinary knowledge: material science, with the implication of organic and colloid chemistry, to prepare micro- and mesoporous materials, surface and adsorption science sustained by theory and modelling to understand the peculiar behaviour of molecules in confined systems, special branches of catalysis, physics, chemical engineering and life science to design novel applications. The gathering of these elements is at the basis of a fruitful and evolutionary zeolite science, as it is hopefully reflected by these proceedings.

Book Coordination States and Catalytic Performance of Ti in Titanium Silicalite 1

Download or read book Coordination States and Catalytic Performance of Ti in Titanium Silicalite 1 written by Xinwen Guo and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past two decades, we studied the synthesis, modification, and application of titanium silicalite-1 (TS-1) systematically with the goal of exploring its role as a catalyst for industrial selective oxidation reactions. Three factors were primarily considered for catalytic performance: the coordination states of titanium ions, locations of titanium ions, and diffusion properties. The coordination state of Ti, which was the most important of all the three factors, was tuned by controlling the synthesis conditions and posttreating with organic bases. Spectroscopy was used to help establishing the relationship between catalytic activity and coordination state. More active titanium species were located on the external surface by posttreatment, so the catalytic performance for larger molecules was improved significantly. The diffusion properties can be enhanced by posttreatment with organic bases. Furthermore, meso,àí/microporous titanium silicalite was synthesized by one-pot synthesis with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as a mesoporous porogen. The TS-1 plate with a short b-axis length was also provided.
