Book Synthesis Characterization and Biological Studies of Nickel Ii and Zinc Ii Complexes with Mono and Di Bromo Substituted Schiff Base Ligands

Download or read book Synthesis Characterization and Biological Studies of Nickel Ii and Zinc Ii Complexes with Mono and Di Bromo Substituted Schiff Base Ligands written by Bussaba Pinchaipat and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transition metal complexes of nickel(II) and zinc(II) with 5-bromo- N -(8-quinolyl)salicylaldimine (HqsalBr, HL 1 ) and 3,5-dibromo- N -(8-quinolyl)salicylaldimine (HqsalBr 2 , HL 2 ) have been synthesized and successfully characterized using several techniques: IR, 1 H-NMR, mass spectrometry and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The molecular structures of nickel(II) and zinc(II) complexes with HL 2 were determined by single crystal X-Ray crystallography. Ligands HL 1 and HL 2 both act as a tridentate ligand and coordinate to metal ion center via deprotonated hydroxyl oxygen atom, nitrogen of azomethine functional group and nitrogen of quinoline substituent. The interaction of these complexes with DNA was investigated using calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) in which the studies by electronic absorption and luminescence titrations reveal that DNA binding mode of the complexes is intercalation. All the synthesized complexes provide great values of binding constant (K b ) and these results are consistent with the quenching capability defined by quenching constant values (K q ). Amongst the synthesized complexes, zinc(II) with ligand HL 2 complex, [Zn(qsalBr) 2 ], exhibits the most superior ability in the interaction with CT-DNA and the verification mode of binding by the competitive reaction with ethidium bromide (EB) also indicates the strongest intercalation by such complex. Additionally, ligands and complexes were also examined in anti-lung cancer activity against A549 cell line and compared with standard compounds, Etoposide and Cisplatin.

Book Molecular Materials

Download or read book Molecular Materials written by Duncan W. Bruce and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-04-04 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “... the book does an excellent job of putting together several different classes of materials. Many common points emerge, and the book may facilitate the development of hybrids in which the qualities of the “parents” are enhanced.” –Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2011 With applications in optoelectronics and photonics, quantum information processing, nanotechnology and data storage, molecular materials enrich our daily lives in countless ways. These materials have properties that depend on their exact structure, the degree of order in the way the molecules are aligned and their crystalline nature. Small, delicate changes in molecular structure can totally alter the properties of the material in bulk. There has been increasing emphasis on functional metal complexes that demonstrate a wide range of physical phenomena. Molecular Materials represents the diversity of the area, encapsulating magnetic, optical and electrical properties, with chapters on: Metal-Based Quadratic Nonlinear Optical Materials Physical Properties of Metallomesogens Molecular Magnetic Materials Molecular Inorganic Conductors and Superconductors Molecular Nanomagnets Structured to include a clear introduction, a discussion of the basic concepts and up-to-date coverage of key aspects, each chapter provides a detailed review which conveys the excitement of work in that field. Additional volumes in the Inorganic Materials Series: Low-Dimensional Solids | Molecular Materials | Porous Materials | Energy Materials

Book Metal Ions in Biological Systems

Download or read book Metal Ions in Biological Systems written by Helmut Sigel and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1988-03-30 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal Ions in Biological Systems is devoted to increasing our understanding of the relationship between the chemistry of metals and life processes. The volumes reflect the interdisciplinary nature of bioinorganic chemistry and coordinate the efforts of researchers in the fields of biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, coordination chemistry, environmental chemistry, biophysics, pharmacy, and medicine. Volumes deal with such topics as the formation, stability, structure, and reactivity of biological compounds of low and high molecular weight containing metal ions; the metabolism and transport of metal ions and their complexes; and new models of complicated natural structures and processes. Devoted solely to the vibrant research area of nickel and its role in biology, Volume 23 offers a comprehensive account of this important subject from the perspectives of 24 distinguished, international authorities. In 11 stimulating, in-depth chapters, Nickel and Its Role in Biology covers nickel and its function in the environment, in aquatic systems, in plants, as well as its metabolism in man and animals ... treats nickel ion binding to amino acids and peptides ... examines nickel in proteins and enzymes, including hydrogenases ... considers the interaction of nickel with nucleic acids and their constituents ... displays thoroughly the toxicology of nickel compounds ... and describes the analysis of nickel in biological materials. With more than 1,400 references to assist further research, Nickel and Its Role in Biology is an essential resource for scientists and students in several disciplines, including biochemistry; bioinorganic, inorganic, and coordination chemistry; biophysics; molecular biology; enzymology; pharmacology; clinical chemistry; nutrition; and toxicology. Book Materials for Nonlinear Optics

Download or read book Materials for Nonlinear Optics written by Seth Richard Marder and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 776 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume exposes the chemistry community to the critical role that chemistry can and must play in nonlinear optics research. In addition, it brings together those researchers who synthesize and characterize materials from a variety of systems, with those who build devices, giving chemists, physicists, and engineers a greater appreciation for the opportunities that lie ahead in understanding and developing nonlinear optical materials. The volume begins with a discussion of polarizability and hyperpolarizability from the view of a chemist. Tutorial chapters dealing with the fundamental structures and properties of second- and third-order nonlinear optical materials, measurement and characterization of these systems, theoretical considerations, application of these systems to devices, and overviews of the current state of affairs in both organic and inorganic nonlinear optical materials follow.
