Book Thin Films Preparation Characterization Applications

Download or read book Thin Films Preparation Characterization Applications written by Manuel P. Soriaga and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about thin films; what they are, how they are prepared, how they are characterized, and what they are used for. The contents of this book not only showcase the diversity of thin films, but also reveals the commonality among the work performed in a variety of areas. The chapters in this volume are based on invited papers presented by prominent researchers in the field at a Symposium on "Thin Films: Preparation, Characterization, Applications" at the 221st National Meeting of the American Chemical Society held in San Diego, California. The coverage of the symposium was extensive; topics ranged from highly-ordered metal adlayers on well-defined electrode surfaces to bio-organic films on non-metallic nanoparticles. An objective of this book is for the readers to be able to draw from the experience and results of others in order to improve and expand the understanding of the science and technology of their own thin films systems.

Book Synthesis and Modification of Nanostructured Thin Films

Download or read book Synthesis and Modification of Nanostructured Thin Films written by Ion N. Mihailescu and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-03-17 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Special Issue “Synthesis and Modification of Nanostructured Thin Films” highlights the recent progress in thin film synthesis/modification and characterization. New methods are reviewed for the synthesis and/or modification of thin films based on laser, magnetron, chemical, and other techniques. The obtained thin nanostructures are characterized by complex and complementary techniques. We think that most of proposed methods can be directly applied in production, but some others still need further elaboration for long-term prospective applications in lasers, optics, materials, electronics, informatics, telecommunications, biology, medicine, and probably many other domains. The Guest Editor and the MDPI staff are therefore pleased to offer this Special Issue to interested readers, including graduate and PhD students as well as postdoctoral researchers, but also to the entire community interested in the field of nanomaterials. We share the conviction that this can serve as a useful tool for updating the literature, but also to aid in the conception of new production and/or research programs. There is plenty of room for further dedicated R&D advances based on new instruments and materials under development.

Book SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF TERNARY COMPOUND THIN FILMS

Download or read book SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF TERNARY COMPOUND THIN FILMS written by Dr. Umeshkumar Prabhakarrao Khairnar and published by Laxmi Book Publication. This book was released on 2023-06-20 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term “thin solid film” has been used in literature to imply a layer of a solid material. Further, there is neither any well-defined limit of its thickness to imply the end of the thin film stage nor one to indicate its transition to the thicker film region. All basic researches on thin films are generally confined to a limited range of thickness, say in the range from a few Å to about 5000 Å depending on the properties to be investigated. Whereas for technological applications where reliability of performance is the most important criterion the thickness limit at the lower range is generally higher than 1000 Å and can be as high as few microns. In order to cover this wide range of film thickness both for basic researches and applications, a “ thin film” may arbitrarily defined as a solid two dimensional layer having a thickness varying from a few Å to about 10 microns or even more. Since the thickness limitations are rather arbitrary even somewhat thicker films may also come within the scope of the above definition. Further subdivision of thickness is made under the categories 1) Ultra-thin 2) Thin (or very thin) and 3) Comparatively thicker ones.

Download or read book Solid State Microbatteries written by James R. Akridge and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Advanced Study Institute on the topic of SOLID STATE MICROBATTERIES is the third and final institute on the general theme of a field of study now termed "SOLID STATE IONICS". The institute was held in Erice, Sicily, Italy, 3 - 15 July 1988. The objective was to assemble in one location individuals from industry and academia expert in the fields of microelectronics and solid state ionics to determine the feasibility of merging a solid state microbattery with microelectronic memory. Solid electrolytes are in principle amenable to vapor deposition, RF or DC sputtering, and other techniques used to fabricate microelectronic components. A solid state microbattery 1 1 mated on the same chip carrier as the chip can provide on board memory backup power. A solid state microbattery assembled from properly selected anode/solid electrolyte/cathode materials could have environmental endurance properties equal or superior to semiconductor memory chips. Lectures covering microelectronics, present state-of-art solid state batteries, new solid electrolyte cathode materials, theoretical and practical techniques for fabrication of new solid electrolytes, and analytical techniques for study of solid electrolytes were covered. Several areas where effort is required for further understanding of materials in pure form and their interactions with other materials at interfacial contact points were identified. Cathode materials for solid state batteries is one particular research area which requires attention. Another is a microscopic model of conduction in vitreous solid electrolytes to enhance the thermodynamic macroscopic Weak ~lectrolyte Iheory (WET).
