Book Preparation characterization and investigations of electrical and magnetic properties of some ferrites

Download or read book Preparation characterization and investigations of electrical and magnetic properties of some ferrites written by Sagar Shirsath and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2011-08-05 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2010 in the subject Physics - Nuclear Physics, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (-), course: PH.D., language: English, abstract: Wide scope is available to study these aspects of ferrite which at present to our knowledge was not probe by researchers. In relevance to the ever expanding possibilities, and potential that is available with the ferrite materials, the scope of presently undertaken work is designed carefully by selecting suitable ferrite and dopants. A sincere attempt was made to extract fruitful, exhaustive and, systematic information regarding structural, cation distribution, electrical, dielectric and magnetic aspects of the ferrite systems under investigations. In the present study, the properties of nickel ferrites substituted by diamagnetic Zn2+, non-magnetic trivalent In3+ ions and tetravalent Ce4+ ions are studied for various compositions. The properties are investigated with a view to understand the effect of divalent, trivalent and tetravalent substitution in nickel ferrite. The thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 related to Scope, problem statement, theory of magnetism, ferrites, background, motivation and aim of the present work, properties of the samples under investigations, objective and outline of thesis. Chapter 2, 3 and 4 related to results and discussion of structural, electrical and magnetic properties of Ni1-xZnxFe2O4, NiInxFe2-xO4 and Ni1-2xCexFe2O4 ferrite system respectively. Chapter 5 gives the summary, discussion and conclusion on Zn, In and Ce substituted nickel ferrite. On summarizing the results obtained on Ni-Zn, Ni-In and Ni-Ce spinel ferrites it can be concluded that; • The structural properties are found to be varying in all the three systems. The lattice parameter of Ni ferrite systems increases with increasing valancy of dopants (Zn2+, In3+ and Ce4+). • The other prominent parameter of our structural study i.e. porosity reflects that with tetravalent substitution minimum porosity can be achieved. • The particle size does not show any significant difference in their values when substituted with Zn2+, In3+ and Ce4+. • The band frequency in IR spectra slightly changes with the substitution of Zn2+, In3+ and Ce4+. • The magnetic properties are very much affected as can be seen from the values of saturation magnetization of Zn2+, In3+ and Ce4+ substituted nickel ferrite.

Book Structural electrical and magnetic properties of rare earth doped spinel ferrites

Download or read book Structural electrical and magnetic properties of rare earth doped spinel ferrites written by Dr. Yogiraj Vijapure and published by Ashok Yakkaldevi. This book was released on 2022-09-13 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first natural magnetic material found to man in pre historic time was magnetite (Fe3O4), which is now known as ferrous ferrite. The story of ferrites begins with the search for ferromagnetic material of usual high resistivity to obtain reasonable low eddy current losses. When ferrimagnetic materials placed in alternating field, eddy current generates into them, which dissipates energy. These losses can be reduced by lamination of ferrimagnetic core to restrict eddy current. Since, eddy current losses are inversely proportional to the resistivity; they can be minimized by use of magnetic materials of high resistivity. Ferrites having resistivity of up to 107Ωm as compared to 10-7Ωm of iron, reduces the eddy current losses in them to a negligible value, even at microwave frequencies.

Book Synthesis and Magnetic Characterization of Rare Earth Doped Barium Ferrites

Download or read book Synthesis and Magnetic Characterization of Rare Earth Doped Barium Ferrites written by Madan Lamichhane and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The (Sr,Ba) M-type hexagonal ferrites are important permanent magnetic materials for industrial applications. These ferrites possess relatively large saturation magnetization, high intrinsic coercivity, and high magnetic anisotropy field as well as excellent chemical stability and corrosion resistivity. Many studies have focused on cationic substitutions and on ionic radius considerations, such as rare-earths to further enhance ferrite magnetic properties. The present study highlights synthesis and characterization of rare-earth doped BaFe12O19 with an intention of improving overall magnetic properties of these ferrites. The effect of partial substitution of Ba+2 ion with RE+3 (RE= La, Pr, Nd, Sm and Gd) on magnetic properties of Ba-Ferrite prepared by solid state reaction using oxalate precursors is assessed in this study. The phase and structural analysis of as prepared sample shows formation of pure hexagonal phase micron size Ba-Ferrite particles. Ba-Ferrites show hard magnetic properties with Hc ̃2.2 kOe and unsaturated Ms of 37 emu/g. However, except for the Pr+3 ion doping overall reduction in magnetic properties have been observed upon rare-earth ion doping. Concomitants reduction in Curie temperature is also observed in rare-earth doped Ba-Ferrites. Effect of replacing Ba+2 ion with dual RE+3 ions (Pr, and La) is on magnetic properties of Ba-Ferrite is also assessed. The change in magnetic properties upon rare-earth ion substitution in Ba-Ferrite is explained on the basis of crystal structure, super exchange interaction, rare earth single ion anisotropy, and iron site occupancy.

This book was released on with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has given an overview of the sol-gel auto-combustion preparation method and characterization of Ni0.5Co0.5FeCrO4. This work focused on the structural properties XRD,TGA, SEM, TEM, FTIR, Magnetic Properties, Dielectric Properties were measured.By using the TG curve the exact temperature of formation of ferrite phase was obtained. The properties such as dielectric constant, dielectric loss tangent as a function of frequency and temperature. The addition of chromium in nickel – cobalt ferrite significantly changes the electrical and magnetic properties. Nickel and cobalt ferrites are inverse ferrites and hence for x £ 1, nickel ferrite shows structure of inverse spinel and for x >1, the inverse structure converted into normal structure. The crystal structure of ferrite, cation distribution, synthesis route, sintering conditions, amount and type of impurity addition decides the electric and magnetic properties of ferrites. Same ferrite with different crystalline size shows different properties. The electrical and magnetic properties even structural properties of ferrites at nano-crystalline phase shows significantly difference than the bulk one. In the present investigation we have presented the results on structural and magnetic properties of Ni0.5Co0.5FeCrO4 sintered at 5000C, 6000C, 7000C and 8000C for 6h.
