Les oxydes Ce1-xCaxO2-x ayant déjà fait l’objet de nombreuses études dans le cadre de l’absorption des rayonnements UV, l’originalité de ce travail consiste à introduire des ions Ca2+ et F- au sein de la cérine CeO2 pour mener à des propriétés optiques intéressantes. La présence du fluor, du fait de son caractère fortement électronégatif, contribue en effet à réduire la polarisabilité électronique du réseau et donc à abaisser l’indice de réfraction dans le domaine du visible par rapport aux oxydes à base de calcium et de cérium. L’environnement local des ions fluorures a été identifié grâce à la RMN du fluor. L’influence de cations tétravalents (Zr4+, Sn4+) sur l’environnement local du cérium, sur le taux final de fluor et sur les propriétés physico-chimiques, est également présentée ainsi que la fluoration de l’oxyde de cérium IV.Les propriétés d’absorption UV de ces composés sont évaluées et corrélées à la composition chimique et aux paramètres structuraux.

Les matériaux concernés sont la silice pure, un composite silice-alumine, un aluminosilicate et un composite silice-zircone. Les films sont caractérisés par ellipsométrie, MEB, SIMS, nanoindentation et RMN du solide. On propose une nouvelle voie de synthèse en n'utilisant que des composés inorganiques comme alternative à la voie sol-gel classique qui consiste en hydrolyse d'un alcoxyde. Le précurseur pour la silice est l'acide silicique obtenu par échange cationique. Après dépôt par spin-coating, les revêtements sont recuits à 500°C. L'épaisseur de ces films peut être contrôlée par l'âge et donc la viscosité de la solution de précurseur ainsi que par la vitesse de rotation. Des films de silice ont un module d'Young de 30 à 40 GPa ce qui correspond aux valeurs obtenues par la synthèse sol-gel classique. Un composite à base d'acide silicique et de nanoparticules de bœhmite (qui se transforme en [gamma]-alumine) a des propriétés intéressantes. La quantité de bœhmite permet de contrôler l'épaisseur (jusqu'à > 1 μm), l'indice de réfraction (≤ 1,56) et le module d'Young (≤ 50 à 60 GPa). La méthode de choix pour obtenir des films d'aluminosilicate est le mélange d'acide silicique et de nitrate d'Al. La synthèse est simple mais les propriétés ne sont pas meilleures que celles de la silice. Un composite silicie-zircone est réalisé par l'acide silicique et l'ajout de m-ZrO2 qui se transforme en t-ZrO2 pendant le recuit. L'indice de réfraction des films est élevé (≤ 2) ; Ils ont de bonnes propriétés mécaniques (≤ 50 à 60 GPa) et une structure de surface intéressante.
