Download or read book Full Scale Fatigue Testing of Components and Structures written by K. J. Marsh and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Full-scale Fatigue Testing of Components and Structures presents the approaches to the testing of full-scale components or structures. The book begins by examining the necessity or desirability of full-scale fatigue testing. Subsequent chapters are devoted to the discussion of fatigue testing done on aircraft structures, railway components, helicopter rotor heads, artillery gun structures, and bridge components. The role of full-scale fatigue testing on automotive components and systems, structural testing in nuclear engineering, and the use of a structural fatigue testing laboratory for other tests are covered as well. Engineers, materials scientists, and researchers in the field of fatigue testing will find the book very useful.

Download or read book Aircraft Fatigue written by J. Y. Mann and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aircraft Fatigue: Design, Operational and Economic Aspects contains the proceedings of the ""Symposium on Aircraft Fatigue—Design, Operational and Economic Aspects,"" held in Melbourne, Australia, on May 22-24, 1967. The papers explore the design and operational aspects of the fatigue problem in general aviation and transport aircraft, as well as the economic aspects of the fatigue problem as it affects both operators and manufacturers. This book is comprised of 21 chapters and begins with a description of an approach to structural reliability analysis based on order statistics and the expected time to first failure in a fleet of specified magnitude, along with its application to structures subject to progressive fatigue damage. The following chapters deal with structural load measurement and analysis; design and certification programs for a wide range of aircraft types including the Anglo-French and American civil supersonic transports; acoustic fatigue; and the design of joints. The detection of fatigue cracks in service and the effects of fatigue on the cost of design and operation of aircraft are also discussed. This monograph will be a useful resource for aircraft and aeronautical engineers as well as officials of civil aviation.
Download or read book Fatigue Design written by Carl C. Osgood and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fatigue Design, Second Edition discusses solutions of previous problems in fatigue as controlled by their particular conditions. The book aims to demonstrate the limitations of some methods and explores the realism and validity of the resulting solutions. The text is comprised of four chapters that tackle a specific area of concern. Chapter 1 provides the introduction and covers the scope, level, and limitations of the book. Chapter 2 deals with the characteristics of design approach, and Chapter 3 talks about the prediction of fatigue life. The last chapter discusses the general factors in fatigue. The book will be of great interest to researchers and professionals concerned with fatigue analysis, such as engineers and designers.

Download or read book Optimum Structural Design Concepts for Aerospace Vehicles written by George Gerard and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Minimum weight design of aerospace structres has evolved during the past two decades into a rather rigorous scientific discipline that permits the rational selection of structural configurations and materials for various design requirements. Because of the pertinence of this body of literature to the structural design of advanced aerospace vehicles, a comprehensive bibliography of published literature on optimim structural design has been compiled and reviewed herein. In Part 1, a critical historical review highlights the significant advances in the literature concerned with analytical optimum design techniques for various structural elements, materials and thermal protection systems. The annotated bibliography is contained in Part 2. In Part 3, the current state of the art of the theory of optimum structural and thermostructural design is assessed. Included are the derivation of design indices resulting from various design requirements, a generalized presentation of optimum design theory and preferred methods of presenting optimum design results. Download or read book Probabilistic fracture mechanics and reliability written by J.W. Provan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the advent of the 80's there has been an increasing need for analytic and numerical techniques, based on a thorough understanding of microstructural processes, that express in a manner suitable for practicing engineers the reliability of components and structures that are being subjected to degradation situations. Such situations fall within the framework offracture mechanics, fatigue, corrosion fatigue and pitting corrosion. Luckily, such techniques are now being developed and it was felt timely to combine in one volume reports by the leaders in this field who are currently making great strides towards solving these problems. Hence the idea of this monograph was born and I am pleased to be associated both with it and the contributors whose chapters are included in this volume. A very large part of the credit for this monograph must go to the authors who have taken time out from their busy schedules to prepare their submissions. They have all worked diligently over the last few months in order to get their manuscripts to me on time and I sincerely thank them for their help throughout the preparation of this volume.
