Book Natural Gas Conversion V

Download or read book Natural Gas Conversion V written by A. Parmaliana and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-09-17 with total page 1005 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On January 1988, the ascertained and economically accessible reserves of Natural Gas (NG) amounted to over 144,000 billion cubic meters worldwide, corresponding to 124 billion tons of oil equivalents (comparable with the liquid oil reserves, which are estimated to be 138 billion TOE). It is hypothesized that the volume of NG reserve will continue to grow at the same rate of the last decade. Forecasts on production indicate a potential increase from about 2,000 billion cubic meters in 1990 to not more than 3,300 billion cubic meters in 2010, even in a high economic development scenario. NG consumption represents only one half of oil: 1.9 billion TOE/y as compared to 3.5 of oil. Consequently, in the future gas will exceed oil as a carbon atom source. In the future the potential for getting energetic vectors or petrochemicals from NG will continue to grow. The topics covered in Natural Gas Conversion V reflect the large global R&D effort to look for new and economic ways of NG exploitation. These range from the direct conversion of methane and light paraffins to the indirect conversion through synthesis gas to fuels and chemicals. Particularly underlined and visible are the technologies already commercially viable. These proceedings prove that mature and technologically feasible processes for natural gas conversion are already available and that new and improved catalytic approaches are currently developing, the validity and feasibility of which will soon be documented. This is an exciting area of modern catalysis, which will certainly open novel and rewarding perspectives for the chemical, energy and petrochemical industries.

Download or read book Cyborg in Cygnus written by Richard Allen and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2018-03-20 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I suppose I should introduce myself in a little more formal fashion. I am Andrea Ubutanga, a cyborg. Yeah, I am not even really a human being, regardless of the UEC officially declaring me to be one. I have an Asimov android body controlled by a more or less human brain. That brain is made up of spare parts they had lying around in a neurological wing of a hospital here on earth. Approximately one-half of those spare parts are from a naval commander that lived over a century ago while the other half is from a prostitute that was a whole human even longer ago than that. I became Andrea thanks to some very fine work by one Dr. Delios of that same hospital I mentioned. I was adopted by Secretary Ubutanga in a political expediency move to keep me out of the hands of the scientific researchers and the military. (They wanted to make me into a weapon!)

Book Contracts and Trust in Alliances

Download or read book Contracts and Trust in Alliances written by Paul Vlaar and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul Vlaar s book very creatively combines three rich streams of research dealing with economic exchanges; and, in doing so, provides readers with new and important insights on trust, contracts and inter-organizational relationships (IORs). This is cross-disciplinary research at its best. Focusing on the independent and interdependent roles of contracts and trust in value creation and in value capture in IORs, Vlaar relies on solid quantitative and qualitative data to support his arguments. This book is must reading for scholars, managers and policy makers who are interested in these topics. Peter Smith Ring, Loyola Marymount University, US Paul Vlaar s Contracts and Trust in Alliances is one of the most creative contributions to the alliance literature in a very long time. Vlaar s discussion is informed by an unusually deep knowledge of the literature, and significantly pushes the research frontier by examining non-standard but crucial issues, notably how mutual understanding and recognition are preconditions for value discovery and creation. Nicolai Juul Foss, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark Paul Vlaar contends that strategic alliances and other forms of cooperation, such as buyer supplier relationships, joint ventures and offshoring initiatives, increasingly stand at the basis of competitive advantage. Although contracts and trust play a crucial role in such relationships, prior studies on both governance solutions are generally confined to single theories, paradigms and viewpoints. Drawing on an in-depth case study, survey data and conceptual developments, the author advances a more integrative framework. He probes issues such as: the tension between the need and the ability to contract trust and contracts as co-evolving and self-reinforcing phenomena contractual functions other than coordination and control dialectical tensions stemming from contract application standardization of contracting practices. By exploring these topics, the book offers novel perspectives on the role of trust in interorganizational relationships, shifting our attention and creation to the discovery of value by collaborating partners. The book offers novel perspectives on the role of contracts and trust in interorganizational relationships, shifting our attention from the creation and appropriation to the discovery of value by collaborating partners. The book will be useful for managers as well as practitioners interested in the governance and management of inter-organizational relationships. It will also be an important resource for academics and students interested in strategy, organization and organizational theory.

Book Secret Alliances

Download or read book Secret Alliances written by Tony Insall and published by Biteback Publishing. This book was released on 2021-04-08 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Europe, 1940. Nazi forces sweep across the continent, with A British invasion likely only weeks away. Never before has a resistance movement been so crucial to the war effort. In this definitive appraisal of Anglo-Norwegian cooperation in the Second World War, Tony Insall reveals how some of the most striking successes of the Norwegian resistance were the reports produced by the heroic SIS agents living in the country's desolate wilderness. Their coast-watching intelligence highlighted the movements of the German fleet and led to counter-strikes which sank many enemy ships – most notably the Tirpitz in November 1944. Using previously unpublished archival material from London, Oslo and Moscow, Insall explores how SIS and SOE worked effectively with their Norwegian counterparts to produce some of the most remarkable achievements of the Second World War.
