Book Escaping the Growth Curse

Download or read book Escaping the Growth Curse written by Yves Doz and published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers. This book was released on 2024-06-11 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sustainable company growth isn't just a pipedream. This 3-part blueprint is your guide to avoiding the traps that cause growth to stall. As companies mature, their underlying growth naturally slows—this is called the 'growth curse'. It's a pervasive problem that plagues companies, CEOs, and board members alike. In order to safeguard a company's future, a strategic form of governance in which the board plays a more active role on behalf of all stakeholders, must be activated. This book is comprised of 3 parts. First it shows companies how to identify the traditional traps that hinder growth. The second part provides companies with a blueprint for building their board, defining long-term strategy, and adjustments necessary to serve continued growth. The final part delves into the specific ways that the board and executives must collaborate in relation to strategic renewal. Reimagining the limits of growth and how companies are run as a consequence provides an escape from the 'growth curse' at last.

Book Airline Network Development in Europe and its Implications for Airport Planning

Download or read book Airline Network Development in Europe and its Implications for Airport Planning written by Dr Guillaume Burghouwt and published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.. This book was released on 2012-10-01 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ongoing deregulation and liberalization of worldwide air transport markets confronts airport planners with an increasingly problematic context. On the one hand, the capital intensive, large-scale and complex airport investments need a detailed, long/medium-term planning of airport infrastructure. Such planning requires at least predictable traffic volumes (and traffic composition) within the planning horizon. On the other hand, airline route networks are increasingly dynamic structures that frequently show discontinuous changes. As a consequence, the much more volatile airport traffic restricts the value of detailed traffic forecasts. Volatility of airport traffic and its composition requires flexibility of airport strategies and planning processes. The book explores this dilemma through a detailed study of airline network development, airport connectivity and airport planning in the deregulated EU air transport market. The questions the book seeks to answer are: · how have airlines responded to the regime changes in EU aviation with respect to the configuration of their route networks? · what has been the impact of the reconfiguration of airline network configurations for the connectivity of EU airports? · how can airport planners and airport authorities deal with the increasingly uncertain airline network behaviour in Europe?

Book Variation and Co operative Communication Strategies in Air Traffic Control English

Download or read book Variation and Co operative Communication Strategies in Air Traffic Control English written by Eveline Wyss-Bühlmann and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2005 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this study is to establish the co-operative communication strategies that are used in air traffic control (ATC) conversations. The research deals with the question: what kind of co-operative communication strategies do pilots and controllers employ in a speech situation with a restricted use of vocabulary, which generally does not permit any deviations from standard phraseology? The strategies in ATC speech are then compared to those used by second language learners. Faerch and Kasper's (1983) taxonomy of communication strategies will serve as a basis for this comparison. The author analyses authentic speech samples from various ATC workstations at Zurich Airport and evaluates various aspects of phraseology training of air traffic controllers.
