How can they fulfil this spiritual hunger of the soul? Swami Yatiswarananda, who was also a Vice-President of the Ramakrishna Order and an enlightened soul in his own right, explains the challenges on the path and the ways and means of overcoming them. The elaborate ‘Introduction’ of the book under different subheadings elegantly orients even the lay reader into various aspects of spiritual life. The core of this book is a compilation of 499 Sanskrit verses and their English renderings. The verses have been selected mainly from the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita, and also from Srimad Bhagavatam, Avadhuta Gita, Manu Smriti and the philosophical works of Sri Shankaracharya. Indexes to both Sanskrit verses and English renderings have been provided.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is all about being successful and happy. Many of us have everything and yet find the real happiness missing. We are constantly in pursuit of that joy which has eluded us forever, thus far. When we realize our true nature and origin, it enables our progression towards attaining a happy and fearless state in life. Each one of us is a divine Soul; unborn, unchanging, immutable and eternal; an inseparable potency of that Supreme God, who dwells in us eternally. Though each one of us has the potential to experience a divine existence, being immortals, we have chosen to take birth in this mortal world; taking birth to die and dying to take birth again, in some 8.4 million bodies. There is a mismatch in what is happening to us. We are immortals, but the bodies we acquire in this world are not. We can attain the divine, eternal world of God, if we realize our imperishable relationship with God, who alone can grant us the state we all seek. With that realization, we can transcend causes and effects of this karmic world, overcoming grief and pain. We not only achieve material success, but also live a useful life, for the self, for our families and for the society.

Download or read book India and the Traveller written by Rita Banerjee and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-11-18 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: India and the Traveller: Aspects of Travelling Identity, a collection of essays on travel writings related to India, focuses on the evolving persona of travelers to India as well as Indians journeying to other lands or within India. It examines India as a space, reflected on and interrogated by others, as also people associated intrinsically with this space, who move in and out of it. The essays focus on the self-fashioning of the traveller - Buddhist pilgrims of Asia, European visitors to the Mughal court, the British colonizer, the Indian anthropologist, historian or whimsical civil servant, the wanderer seeking spiritual insight in nature, and the woman traveller with her distinct perceptions and sensitivities. Engaging with issues related to identity, this book explores the need for cultural accommodation by African and European travellers, the discovery of affinity by Asian travellers, the instability of postcolonial selves and travel as a means of negotiating complex problems of fashioning personae in literary works.

Written especially for young people, this book introduces the logical, rational, and scientific nature of spirituality, religion, and ritualistic practices, within the context of Hinduism. Find out how to: • bring logical, rational, and scientific traits back into ritualistic practices and the observance of religion. • imbibe religion into daily life for personal development—and help others do the same. • recognize your true sense of self and your innate strength and potential, which is the real purpose of spirituality, religion, and prescribed ritualistic performances. Young people must gain more insight into spiritual, religious, and ritualistic concepts. To help them do so, this book highlights etymology and epithets, nomenclature, symbolism, iconography, and attributes of some commonly worshiped gods and goddesses. The ancient Rishis prescribed various scientific methods and procedures to help us prepare the equipment of our body, mind, and intellect to comprehend our own supreme nature. Discover how their wisdom can help you find your path.
