Book 2D and 3D Image Analysis by Moments

Download or read book 2D and 3D Image Analysis by Moments written by Jan Flusser and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-11-16 with total page 557 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents recent significant and rapid development in the field of 2D and 3D image analysis 2D and 3D Image Analysis by Moments, is a unique compendium of moment-based image analysis which includes traditional methods and also reflects the latest development of the field. The book presents a survey of 2D and 3D moment invariants with respect to similarity and affine spatial transformations and to image blurring and smoothing by various filters. The book comprehensively describes the mathematical background and theorems about the invariants but a large part is also devoted to practical usage of moments. Applications from various fields of computer vision, remote sensing, medical imaging, image retrieval, watermarking, and forensic analysis are demonstrated. Attention is also paid to efficient algorithms of moment computation. Key features: Presents a systematic overview of moment-based features used in 2D and 3D image analysis. Demonstrates invariant properties of moments with respect to various spatial and intensity transformations. Reviews and compares several orthogonal polynomials and respective moments. Describes efficient numerical algorithms for moment computation. It is a "classroom ready" textbook with a self-contained introduction to classifier design. The accompanying website contains around 300 lecture slides, Matlab codes, complete lists of the invariants, test images, and other supplementary material. 2D and 3D Image Analysis by Moments, is ideal for mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, software developers, and Ph.D students involved in image analysis and recognition. Due to the addition of two introductory chapters on classifier design, the book may also serve as a self-contained textbook for graduate university courses on object recognition.

Book Handbook of Biomedical Image Analysis

Download or read book Handbook of Biomedical Image Analysis written by Jasjit S. Suri and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-06-09 with total page 978 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With rapid advancements in technology, body imaging or components thereof, have become ubiquitous in medicine. While the biomedical devices such as the MRI, CT, X-rays, Ultrasound, PET/SPECT and Microscopy etc, provide us with high resolution images, the challenges that have continued to confront us with, lie in the interpretation of the vast amounts of data generated by these devices. Biomedical applications are the 'bottom-line' essentials in the diagnostic world. It is this diagnostic interpretation feature that forms the core niche for these books and will serve the needs of a broad spectrum of audience including researchers, research clinicians, and students.Together the three volumesnbsp;will illustrate the role of the fusion of registration and segmentation systems for complete biomedical applications therapy delivery benefiting the biomedical doctors, clinical researchers, radiologists and others.

Book Visual and Spatial Analysis

    Book Details:
  • Author : Boris Kovalerchuk
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2007-11-06
  • ISBN : 1402029586
  • Pages : 582 pages

Download or read book Visual and Spatial Analysis written by Boris Kovalerchuk and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-11-06 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced visual analysis and problem solving has been conducted successfully for millennia. The Pythagorean Theorem was proven using visual means more than 2000 years ago. In the 19th century, John Snow stopped a cholera epidemic in London by proposing that a specific water pump be shut down. He discovered that pump by visually correlating data on a city map. The goal of this book is to present the current trends in visual and spatial analysis for data mining, reasoning, problem solving and decision-making. This is the first book to focus on visual decision making and problem solving in general with specific applications in the geospatial domain - combining theory with real-world practice. The book is unique in its integration of modern symbolic and visual approaches to decision making and problem solving. As such, it ties together much of the monograph and textbook literature in these emerging areas. This book contains 21 chapters that have been grouped into five parts: (1) visual problem solving and decision making, (2) visual and heterogeneous reasoning, (3) visual correlation, (4) visual and spatial data mining, and (5) visual and spatial problem solving in geospatial domains. Each chapter ends with a summary and exercises. The book is intended for professionals and graduate students in computer science, applied mathematics, imaging science and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). In addition to being a state-of-the-art research compilation, this book can be used a text for advanced courses on the subjects such as modeling, computer graphics, visualization, image processing, data mining, GIS, and algorithm analysis.

Book Nature Class and New Deal Literature

Download or read book Nature Class and New Deal Literature written by Stephen Fender and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2011-08-22 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Working through close rhetorical analysis of everything from fiction and journalism to documents and documentaries, this book looks at how popular memory favors the country Depression over the economic crisis in the nation’s cities and factories. Over eighty years after it happened, the Depression still lives on in iconic images of country poor whites – in the novels of John Steinbeck, the photographs of Dorothea Lange and Arthur Rothstein, the documentary films of Pare Lorenz and the thousands of share-croppers’ life histories as taken down by the workers of the Federal Writers’ Project. Like the politicians and bureaucrats who accomplished the New Deal’s radical reforms in banking, social security and labor union law, the artists, novelists and other writers who supported or even worked for the New Deal were idealists, well to the left of center in their politics. Yet when it came to hard times on the American farm, something turned them into unwitting reactionaries. Though they brought these broken lives of the country poor to the notice and sympathy of the public, they also worked unconsciously to undermine their condition. How and why? Fender shows how the answer lies in clues overlooked until now, hidden in their writing -- their journalism and novels, the "life histories" they ghost wrote for their poor white clients, the bureaucratic communications through which they administered these cultural programs, even in the documentary photographs and movies, with their insistent captions and voice-overs. This book is a study of literary examples from in and around the country Depression, and the myths on which they drew.
