Book excerpt: Life is a journey. Every one of us is gifted a set amount of time on this earth, and we all must make the best of it before that time is up. While none of us knows exactly how long we have, what is amazing is that per unit time, we all get the exact same amount every unit. We all get different total amounts, but no one's hour is discernibly different from another person's hour. Yet, that is the only real similarity, as some people simply waste entire decades away, while others perform deeds in a few hours or even minutes that last for all of eternity! Some people live life so unremarkably that their existence and non-existence is almost the same to others; while some literally change the course of history. This book is meant to inspire us all on this journey of life so that we make the best use of our time. Each topic is chosen to be a quick, easy read with a message that is useful to people at any stage of this journey. These topics were all chosen and selected from khutbahs and talks that I've given over the last almost three decades of public speaking, with ex-tensive editing for content, along with the necessary stylistic editing and footnotes that a written work deserves

This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing commentary on three oft-recited chapters of the Holy Qur'an, this excerpt of the monumental discourse by 18th-century mystic and scholar Ahmad ibn 'Ajiba presents both an example of Islamic erudition based on traditional sources as well as insight into his own personal journey of discovery. Each verse is expounded upon with an exoteric explanation as well as related with an esoteric commentary to the mystic path of Islam, Sufism. As one of the few scholarly translations of traditional Qur'anic exegesis, this volume affords the previously unacquainted access not only to how educated Muslims have understood the dominant themes of these three chapters since the earliest days of Islam but also to how traditional Sufic sources have viewed the same themes in respect to the microcosm of the soul and the journey towards God.

Book excerpt: Praise be to Allah Most High through Whose Kindness Sūrah alKahf and the Modern Age is now published. May He bless this humblework to reach Muslims in many parts of the world. May it assist themto grow closer to the Qur'ān and to this Sūrah - especially every dayof Jum'ah when the Sūrah is to be recited for protection from theFitnah of Dajjāl. May it refresh their memory of the meaning of theSūrah and, more importantly, constantly deepen their understanding ofthe Sūrah. Amīn!As war on Islam intensifies and the time approaches when theimposter Euro-Jewish State of Israel makes its bid to become theruling State in the world, and Dajjāl the false Messiah would rule theworld from Jerusalem and declare that he is the true Messiah, I fearthat there would be many who would ban books on the Qur'ān. Itherefore pray most humbly, and ask my gentle readers to also kindlyjoin in the prayer, that Allah Most High might protect books (such asthis humble quartet of books on Sūrah al-Kahf) that employ theblessed Qur'ān to expose those in the godless modern age who arewaging unjust war on Islam and Muslims. Āmīn.A mysterious Euro-world-order with a Jewish-Christian alliancewages war on Islam on behalf of the Euro-Jewish State of Israel. Ifthere is any merit at all in this book it can, perhaps, be located in itsrole as a very humble pioneering work that might possibly inspireothers, more competent than this writer, to a more comprehensiveeffort in using this Sūrah of the Qur'ān to explain that world today.

Book Better Not Bitter

Download or read book Better Not Bitter written by Yusef Salaam and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Named a Best Book of 2021 by NPR This inspirational memoir serves as a call to action from prison reform activist Yusef Salaam, of the Exonerated Five, that will inspire us all to turn our stories into tools for change in the pursuit of racial justice. They didn't know who they had. So begins Yusef Salaam telling his story. No one's life is the sum of the worst things that happened to them, and during Yusef Salaam's seven years of wrongful incarceration as one of the Central Park Five, he grew from child to man, and gained a spiritual perspective on life. Yusef learned that we're all "born on purpose, with a purpose." Despite having confronted the racist heart of America while being "run over by the spiked wheels of injustice," Yusef channeled his energy and pain into something positive, not just for himself but for other marginalized people and communities. Better Not Bitter is the first time that one of the now Exonerated Five is telling his individual story, in his own words. Yusef writes his narrative: growing up Black in central Harlem in the '80s, being raised by a strong, fierce mother and grandmother, his years of incarceration, his reentry, and exoneration. Yusef connects these stories to lessons and principles he learned that gave him the power to survive through the worst of life's experiences. He inspires readers to accept their own path, to understand their own sense of purpose. With his intimate personal insights, Yusef unpacks the systems built and designed for profit and the oppression of Black and Brown people. He inspires readers to channel their fury into action, and through the spiritual, to turn that anger and trauma into a constructive force that lives alongside accountability and mobilizes change. This memoir is an inspiring story that grew out of one of the gravest miscarriages of justice, one that not only speaks to a moment in time or the rage-filled present, but reflects a 400-year history of a nation's inability to be held accountable for its sins. Yusef Salaam's message is vital for our times, a motivating resource for enacting change. Better, Not Bitter has the power to soothe, inspire and transform. It is a galvanizing call to action.

This book was released on 2016-08-17 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surah al Kahf (kahf meaning cave) is a Makkan surah, and consists of one hundred and ten verses arranged in twelve sections. The surah has been named kahf due to a major theme therein describing the ordeal of some youths who were forced to flee into a cave to escape the persecution of their pagan village and leader. The surah then narrates the story of the Ashab al-Kahf (companions of the Cave). These companions were a group of youths who had faith in Allah Ta'ala at a time when all around them did not believe in Him. Allah Ta'ala protected them by giving them sanctuary from the oppressive rule of the king in a cave. Allah Ta'ala then made their ordeal a lesson for eternity by putting them to sleep for a period of three hundred years, to escape the tyranny of their time to awake in a time where their example would serve to strengthen the faith of the living. The surah then describes a dialogue between two people. One was arrogant, and the other was God-fearing. Through the dialogue the surah establishes the absurdity of unfounded hopes in this world, simply because there is no guarantee in man getting his way - as he does not possess the power to make anything happen. The former boasts of his wealth and gardens, and he believes that his wealth and power is everlasting, and even the Day of Judgment "if it ever comes", will not deprive him of his wealth and possessions. Allah Ta'ala makes it clear that the things of this world are perishable and only faith and good deeds will survive to be profitable. The surah then narrates the Story of the Prophet Musa A.S. (Moses) and the mysterious servant of Allah, Khidr. The incident highlights the limitations of man's knowledge, especially in regard to what is beyond his sight, whether it be in distance or in the time that is yet to pass. The surah concludes with Allah's Ta'ala command to the Messenger PBUH to declare that he is a human being and that when he proclaims Allah's unity, he does so because this knowledge has been revealed to him by Allah Ta'ala. and he who seeks success in the hereafter should do good deeds and not ascribe any partner to Allah Ta'ala.
