Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transparency and accurate management information are essential if you want to ensure that the supply chain is working for your business. Supply Chain Visibility is a critical primer for readers with backgrounds in supply chain management, system integration, strategy consulting, and enterprise software. Jonah McIntire sets the stage for a new framework that empowers business leaders to connect their projects, tasks or work streams back to the strategic message that it is worth applying organizational resources to supply chain visibility. Drawing on research findings, he reviews the prerequisites needed for a successful visibility solution and suggests a visibility fitness scorecard to compare the quality of widely varying approaches. The second section of the book reviews in detail the eight most common types of supply chain visibility and offers a set of indicators of potential fit for each one. The book also explains how to acquire visibility technology and the available options, and includes guidance on best practice for in-house designed systems. If you or your organization are moving into this area, Jonah’s insights will place you in a far stronger position to decide exactly how to leverage the benefits of supply chain visibility solutions; they also walk you carefully through the minefields of ineffective approaches or technologies to give you the greatest chance of success.

Book Real Time Visibility in Supply Chain Management

Download or read book Real Time Visibility in Supply Chain Management written by Sławomir Wyciślak and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-07-12 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Real-Time Visibility in Supply Chain Management applies the paradox theory to understand why real-time visibility expectations and aspirations do not meet supply chain realities. Providing an understanding of the governance of industrial digital platforms for real-time visibility, the book identifies paradoxical tensions among platform partners and explores how to navigate them. The author conceptualizes dynamic patterns of tension evolution among supply chain platform partners and suggests future research directions to advance theorization regarding platform governance and tensions. The successful implementation of digital platforms requires understanding and navigating these paradoxical tensions. The perspective of paradox theory offered in this book can advance our supply chain digitalization understanding as it informs about gaps in thought processes, methodologies, tools, and solutions. The book also explores the role of multiple stakeholders, including platform owners, customers and complementors, in operationalizing real-time visibility to offer new theoretical insights. This book will appeal to researchers and scholars in the areas of supply chain management, operations and logistics, as well as those interested in digitalization and technology management.

Book The Value of Supply Chain Visibility when Yield is Random

Download or read book The Value of Supply Chain Visibility when Yield is Random written by Marcus Dettenbach and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2015-05-29 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on supply chains with uncertainty due to random yields. A common assumption in such systems is that the yields are observable only after all transportation or production steps are completed. The actual yield realization however happens earlier during the process. Technological advances and stronger supply chain collaboration make it possible to observe yield realization in real time and therefore close the time gap between the event and the observation. Within this thesis optimal and heuristic policies are developed that make use of this new type of information in various supply chain settings. These policies are used to identify conditions under which real time yield information is particularly beneficial. This book is relevant to both scholars and practitioners interested in managing supply chains with random yields.

Book Visibility and Flexibility in Supply Chain Risk Management

Download or read book Visibility and Flexibility in Supply Chain Risk Management written by Mathias Doetzer and published by Fraunhofer Verlag. This book was released on 2021-01-19 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book sets out to provide an understanding of flexibility and visibility in supply chain risk management beyond national borders. The first part lays down the basic fundament of disruptive dynamics through the analysis of how pre-disruptive risk phases influence post-disruptive risk phases in interconnected risk sources. The second part of this book built on these findings by analyzing the role of information sharing to enhance the shift between pre- and post-disruptive flexibility capabilities, exemplified by various companies in Japan. The third part has taken a wider approach to provide a contribution beyond national borders, by analyzing the influence of dissimilar cultural behavior on supply chain visibility. The aim of this book is to provide guidance and insights in order to overcome disruptions, to become more resilient, and to bridge the gaps between dissimilar cultures to enhance the positive output in business environments, the global economy, and beyond.

Book The Effect of Supply Chain Visibility Systems on Business Processes

Download or read book The Effect of Supply Chain Visibility Systems on Business Processes written by Anna Stanchik and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As supply chains become more global and complex, it increases the importance of end-to-end visibility into the material, information, and financial flows of a firm. This work covers various aspects of supply chain visibility such as current status, its benefits, and the benefit-enabling mechanisms, traced through multiple stages of research, including a survey, round- table, and detailed interviews. Specifically, we developed a multi-case study analysis of supply chain visibility solutions (SCVS) and analyzed its effect on key supply chain processes. A qualitative "with and without SCVS" framework was employed to understand the changes observed in key business processes at several companies that recently implemented SCVS. This was combined with a cross-case study analysis to evaluate the effect of SCVS on the efficiency and effectiveness dimensions of process performance. We found that SCVS has a direct positive effect on data management processes via benefit-enabling mechanisms such as automation, standardization, and better raw data. Key operational processes, such as shipment and inventory management, risk management, and procurement and partner collaboration, were affected positively by SCVS via the antecedent data management process. The strength of impact of SCVS on key operational processes varies by company characteristics and the stage of implementation of SCVS. This research is most useful to companies considering implementing an SCVS to understand the potential benefits of SCVS and the underlying mechanisms. Managers can increase the relevance and robustness of results by extending the case-study analysis to include more companies with similar operating characteristics.

Book Role of Visibility in Supply Chain Management

Download or read book Role of Visibility in Supply Chain Management written by Zulkaif Ahmed Saqib and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is substantial for manufacturing industries to enforce and seek out new strategies regarding supply chain management to endure within the current competitive and capricious business climate which is critical. We try to underlie a policy for manufacturers to connect all operational issues related to the supply chain. This chapter suggests a concept of visibility that represents a beneficial role among business partners such as manufacturers, supplier, and customers. The categorization of several types for uncertainties in the supply chain such as demand, quality, broader variety, time, and customization of a product are related to the decision-maker. Management of uncertainties applicable with the help of sharing the information creates visibility among supply chain partners. Implementing supply chain visibility becomes easier just because of passing information about products globally which is more a matter of priorities and investment, which is not the case when sharing ,Äúofficial data,Äù about people. As social technologies become more prominent, this may change over time. So, supply chain visibility is beneficial for supply chain partners.
