Book Success In the Indian Eatery

Download or read book Success In the Indian Eatery written by Vincent Gabriel and published by eBookIt.com. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author focusses on the delights of the food to be offered to the customer. "Indian" food is meant to excite the senses, as it is colourful, it is tasty and making it is a joy. To the food entrepreneur indian food causes so much joy to you that I have included Unit 13 because I am afraid that the joy will carry you to beyond the limits to sheer exhaustion and a sense that you or your food is not fully appreciated. So you need to be on guard against those who only choose one aspect and push that one aspect to its ultimate end. I am referring to those who misinterpret Indian food as being chilli hot. The truth is that chilli is just one aspect of that food. Other interpretations may include the slowness of the cooking. Another aspect of Indian food is to provide a large variety of fresh food from fish to vegetables to meat and to fruit. All Indian food is about communal and personal enjoyment. Keep up the good work of spreading the sensual joy of Indian food to the far flung corners of the world. I wish you every success in your endeavours.

Book Taste Makers Seven Immigrant Women Who Revolutionized Food in America

Download or read book Taste Makers Seven Immigrant Women Who Revolutionized Food in America written by Mayukh Sen and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times Editors' Choice pick Named a Best Book of the Year by NPR, Los Angeles Times, Vogue, Wall Street Journal, Food Network, KCRW, WBUR Here & Now, Emma Straub, and Globe and Mail One of the Millions's Most Anticipated Books of 2021 America’s modern culinary history told through the lives of seven pathbreaking chefs and food writers. Who’s really behind America’s appetite for foods from around the globe? This group biography from an electric new voice in food writing honors seven extraordinary women, all immigrants, who left an indelible mark on the way Americans eat today. Taste Makers stretches from World War II to the present, with absorbing and deeply researched portraits of figures including Mexican-born Elena Zelayeta, a blind chef; Marcella Hazan, the deity of Italian cuisine; and Norma Shirley, a champion of Jamaican dishes. In imaginative, lively prose, Mayukh Sen—a queer, brown child of immigrants—reconstructs the lives of these women in vivid and empathetic detail, daring to ask why some were famous in their own time, but not in ours, and why others shine brightly even today. Weaving together histories of food, immigration, and gender, Taste Makers will challenge the way readers look at what’s on their plate—and the women whose labor, overlooked for so long, makes those meals possible.

Book Success In the Food Social Enterprises

Download or read book Success In the Food Social Enterprises written by Vincent Gabriel and published by eBookIt.com. This book was released on 2015-12-31 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been my consistent objective to use my books, courses and practical aid to be able to help others. My heart is always touched by the brave efforts of the outstanding people, whom society describes as the marginalised to eke out a living in communities that choose to forget them. It is the aim of this book to facilitate their efforts. Social Enterprises are unique. They cannot adopt the ruthless, cunning, often dishonest and sometimes unethical practices that some business organisations resort too. On the other hand they cannot soft pedal their way out of the jungle of the complicated and difficult universe of the market place of buying and selling. This book is the middle way of real life management techniques and basic humane approaches to the art and the science of kindness. In a way it is meant to be an eye-opener for the Boards of Directors, the managers and the generous public to see how each and every social enterprise must position itself between: Profit—giving and Self-reliance—dependence I wish every reader a useful experience upon reading this book.

Book Business on a Platter

Download or read book Business on a Platter written by Anoothi Vishal and published by Hachette India. This book was released on 2019-10-30 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do some restaurant brands succeed while most disappear even before the main course is served? Is there a market at all for luxury dining? Should you scale up your concept or limit your ambition? Should you seek private equity investment or is it better to grow slow and steady? How much does PR help? What alchemical andaz of location, food, service and financial planning makes for a perfect recipe? In India’s cut-throat restaurant industry, fame and fortune rest on a knife’s edge. Over the past two decades, the sector has seen an unprecedented boom – with the introduction of experiential restaurants, global cuisines and modern Indian food, and chefs seeking to establish credible ventures to serve consumers more open to culinary diversity than ever before. But behind all the glamour, there lies a cautionary tale: restaurants are a tough business in a market characterized by high costs, an unclear regulatory framework and fickle consumers who often prize discounts over quality. And while the last few years have seen private equity investment enter the space, there have been few notable exits, and returns on investment remain nebulous even as restaurants struggle with slim profit margins and high mortality rates. In Business on a Platter, Anoothi Vishal dives deep into the complex business of restaurants and takes a hard look at where it’s all headed. Building on her observations of the sector over two decades, she analyses stories of survival, failure and turnarounds, while also tracing the history of food retail from Mughal India to the newest brands pushing the envelope. Incisive and percipient, this book is the ultimate guide to the business of food in India.
