Book excerpt: A leading figure in the Theosophical Society, Leadbeater was a prolific author, writing on subjects ranging from Buddhism, Masonic history and the origins of Christianity through to the power of thought and the fourth dimension. Leadbeater was also the force behind Annie Besant, the discoverer and educator if Krishnamurti, and became Presiding Bishop of the Liberal Catholic Church. For all his influence Charles Leadbeater remains largely unknown as a man. This biography, first published in 1982, dispels many of the mysteries surrounding his life, and Leadbeater emerges as neither evil degenerate or infallible saint, but as a complex and eccentric adventurer into the realm of the occult. This title will be of particular interest to students of history and theology.

Book Capricorn Ascendant Secrets

Download or read book Capricorn Ascendant Secrets written by Saket Shah and published by Saket Shah. This book was released on 2020-01-05 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are times when people just can’t identify with the attributes of their Sun or Moon sign. In fact, they may feel that they are an antithesis of their zodiac sign. You may also have observed it. Your Leo friend may not seek attention, may be because he or she has a Capricorn ascendant. Your Sagittarius friend is very possessive, may be because he or she has a Scorpio Ascendant. It is easy to understand why some people do not correspond to their Sun or Moon signs once you know about what is the rising sign or Ascendant in a horoscope. Ascendant is the degree of the zodiac sign that was highest on the Easter horizon at the time and place of birth. When seen from Earth, the sky seems to move, so the entire zodiac can be observed in a span of 24 hours day which means the rising sign changes on the Eastern horizon every 2 hours because there are 12 zodiac signs. People tend to associate their physical, emotional and spiritual attributes more with rising sign at times.

This book was released on 2023-04-12 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let sleeping dogs lie: for under the strains of chelaship, character cracks appear. Vice puts on its most alluring face, and the tempting passions try to lure the unprepared to the depths of psychic debasement. Zanoni was suffering from some former error which he had to work out unaided. But unlike Bulwer-Lytton’s Mejnour, the real Adepts are not exactly desiccated pansies between the leaves of a volume of solemn poetry. Until final emancipation reabsorbs their Ego, They are conscious of the purest sympathies called out by the aesthetic effects of high art, and their tenderest cords respond to the call of the holier and nobler human attachments. Lord Lytton was clearly wrong when he so gloriously depicted his Zanoni as yielding up pure wisdom for the brighter prize of sexual love. Though man cannot escape his ruling destiny, he has the choice of two paths. His destiny has been written in the stars by himself. Therefore, no heavenly body can influence the human destiny. Being self-made, man weaves his own destiny and reaps what he has sown. The real Dweller on the Threshold is no monster, it is the despair and despondency of the neophyte. The candidate to initiation is tempted and tormented by his own unmastered passions. Any latent proclivities are drawn out by reformed Brothers of the Shadow, working for the Brothers of Light. More! Undissipated passions from the previous incarnation can dwell on the lower mental plane of the next one. Man’s true star is a Dhyani-Buddha, his Augoeides. Augoeides is the Master within, luciform and pure. Those of pure heart can rely upon their Master’s guidance and protection.

Book Madame Blavatsky

Download or read book Madame Blavatsky written by Marion Meade and published by Open Road Media. This book was released on 2014-04-01 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The life and times of Helena Blavatsky, the controversial religious guru who cofounded the Theosophical Society and kick-started the New Age movement. Recklessly brilliant, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky scandalized her 19th century world with a controversial new religion that tried to synthesize Eastern and Western philosophies. If her contemporaries saw her as a freak, a charlatan, and a snake oil salesman, she viewed herself as a special person born for great things. She firmly believed that it was her destiny to enlighten the world. Rebelliously breaking conventions, she was the antithesis of a pious religious leader. She cursed, smoked, overate, and needed to airbrush out certain inconvenient facts, like husbands, lovers, and a child. Marion Meade digs deep into Madame Blavatsky’s life from her birth in Russia among the aristocracy to a penniless exile in Europe, across the Atlantic to New York where she became the first Russian woman naturalized as an American citizen, and finally moving on to India where she established the international headquarters of the Theosophical Society in 1882. As she chased from continent to continent, she left in her aftermath a trail of enthralled followers and the ideas of Theosophy that endure to this day. While dismissed as a female messiah, her efforts laid the groundwork for the New Age movement, which sought to reconcile Eastern traditions with Western occultism. Her teachings entered the mainstream by creating new respect for the cultures and religions of the East—for Buddhism and Hinduism—and interest in meditation, yoga, gurus, and reincarnation. Madame Blavatsky was one of a kind. Here is her richly bizarre story told with compassion, insight, and an attempt to plumb the truth behind those astonishing accomplishments.
