Book Relativistic Cosmology

Download or read book Relativistic Cosmology written by Dr. Amit Prakash and published by BlueRose Publishers. This book was released on 2020-06-03 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Relativistic Cosmology is an exciting update of mathematical interpretation of the universe. It is aimed primarily at advanced post graduate students in mathematics as well as physics and astronomy, but is also useful as a supplementary text at higher level as research scholars. This book deals with observational results, descriptions of special and general theory of relativity and applications of relativistic mechanics and relativistic thermodynamics to cosmology. This book is concerned mainly with various models that have been proposed to explain the large scale structure of the universe. Even a very knowledgeable student of the Cosmology will find much new information in this book. While the explanatory discussions are brief, they are sufficiently substantive to serve the subject in the question and to pique further interest in the topic. This book is not merely written or complied, it is crafted. It is designed for a specific audience and the texture and sensory format is carefully chosen for the audience. This is a wonderful book that presents an eclectic selection of cosmological concepts and concerned calculations. It is an ideal text book for the era of precision cosmology in the accelerating universe. This book, as it is hoped, will certainly find a warm reception in the hands of the readers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Relativistic cosmology has in recent years become one of the most exciting and active branches of current research. In conference after conference the view is expressed that cosmology today is where particle physics was forty years ago, with major discoveries just waiting to happen. Also gravitational wave detectors, presently under construction or in the testing phase, promise to open up an entirely novel field of physics. The book's basic purpose is to make relativity come alive conceptually. Hence the emphasis on the foundations and the logical subtleties rather than on the mathematics or the detailed experiments per se.

Book Global Aspects in Gravitation and Cosmology

Download or read book Global Aspects in Gravitation and Cosmology written by Pankaj S. Joshi and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1993 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes several basic results and applications of global aspects in gravitation theory and cosmology within the framework of Einstein's theory of gravity. Topics include results on the structure and topology of space-time, exact solutions to Einstein equations and singularities, the status of quantum gravity, and quantum effects near space-time singularities in strong curvature fields. Also covered are the global upper limits in cosmology on elementary particle masses which might constitute the dark matter of the universe. After discussing in detail the fundamental role played by global considerations in gravity and general relativity, the author points out the significant problems that remain: the nature and structure of space-time singularities, the cosmic censorship problem in black hole physics, and the issue of quantum effects in strong gravity fields. The author's treatment of gravitational collapse illustrates how powerfully-strong curvature naked singularities could result from the continual gravitational collapse of matter with several reasonable equations of state--including inflowing radiation, dust, or a perfect fluid. Students and mathematicians, astrophysicists, and physicists will find this theoretically rich book a landmark in relativity theory.

Book Gravitation and Spacetime

    Book Details:
  • Author : Hans C. Ohanian
  • Publisher : Cambridge University Press
  • Release : 2013-04-08
  • ISBN : 1139619543
  • Pages : 545 pages

Download or read book Gravitation and Spacetime written by Hans C. Ohanian and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-04-08 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third edition of this classic textbook is a quantitative introduction for advanced undergraduates and graduate students. It gently guides students from Newton's gravitational theory to special relativity, and then to the relativistic theory of gravitation. General relativity is approached from several perspectives: as a theory constructed by analogy with Maxwell's electrodynamics, as a relativistic generalization of Newton's theory, and as a theory of curved spacetime. The authors provide a concise overview of the important concepts and formulas, coupled with the experimental results underpinning the latest research in the field. Numerous exercises in Newtonian gravitational theory and Maxwell's equations help students master essential concepts for advanced work in general relativity, while detailed spacetime diagrams encourage them to think in terms of four-dimensional geometry. Featuring comprehensive reviews of recent experimental and observational data, the text concludes with chapters on cosmology and the physics of the Big Bang and inflation.

Book Space Time Relativity and Cosmology

Download or read book Space Time Relativity and Cosmology written by Jose Wudka and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2006-07-20 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Space-Time, Relativity, and Cosmology provides a historical introduction to modern relativistic cosmology and traces its historical roots and evolution from antiquity to Einstein. The topics are presented in a non-mathematical manner, with the emphasis on the ideas that underlie each theory rather than their detailed quantitative consequences. A significant part of the book focuses on the Special and General theories of relativity. The tests and experimental evidence supporting the theories are explained together with their predictions and their confirmation. Other topics include a discussion of modern relativistic cosmology, the consequences of Hubble's observations leading to the Big Bang hypothesis, and an overview of the most exciting research topics in relativistic cosmology. This textbook is intended for introductory undergraduate courses on the foundations of modern physics. It is also accessible to advanced high school students, as well as non-science majors who are concerned with science issues.

Book General Relativity and Gravitation

Download or read book General Relativity and Gravitation written by B. Bertotti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tenth International Conference on General Relativity and Gravitation (GR10) was held from July 3 to July 8, 1983, in Padova, Italy. These Conferences take place every three years, under the auspices of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation, with the purpose of assessing the current research in the field, critically discussing the prog ress made and disclosing the points of paramount im portance which deserve further investigations. The Conference was attended by about 750 scientists active in the various subfields in which the current research on gravitation and general relativity is ar ticulated, and more than 450 communications were sub mitted. In order to fully exploit this great occur rence of experience and creative capacity, and to pro mote individual contributions to the collective know ledge, the Conference was given a structure of work shops on the most active topics and of general sessions in which the Conference was addressed by invited speakers on general reviews or recent major advance ments of the field. The individual communications were collected in a two-volume publication made available to the participants upon their arrival and widely distributed to Scientific Institutions and Research Centres.

Book Cosmological Relativity The Special And General Theories For The Structure Of The Universe

Download or read book Cosmological Relativity The Special And General Theories For The Structure Of The Universe written by Moshe Carmeli and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2006-10-09 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory presented in this book is a combination of Einstein's original special and general relativity, but now the starting point is not the propagation of light but the expansion of the Universe. The traditional Hubble constant H0 (which is not constant) is called in this book the Hubble parameter. Its value at low gravity is denoted by h, and its reciprocal is denoted by τ. Thus τ is the Big Bang time (some authors call it the Hubble-Carmeli constant). This is actually the only constant that appears in this theory, just as c is the only constant that appears in Einstein's theory. There is no cosmological constant but there is a critical mass density. The theory presents general relativity in the space-velocity (of the receding galaxies) which is later on extended to include the time dimension. So far all experimental findings are satisfied by this theory.

  • Pages : 448 pages

Download or read book Relativity written by Wolfgang Rindler and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2006-04-07 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Relativistic cosmology has in recent years become one of the most active and exciting branches of research, often considered to be today where particle physics was forty years ago, with major discoveries just waiting to happen. Consequently the part most affected by this second edition is the last part on cosmology. But there are additions, improvements, and new exercises throughout. _ The book's basic purpose is unchanged. It is to make relativity come alive conceptually, and to display the grand theoretical edifice that it is, with consequences in many branches of physics. The emphasis is on the foundations, on the logical subtleties, and on presenting the necessary mathematics - including differential geometry and tensors - but always as late and in as palatable a form as possible. Aided by over 300 exercises, the book seeks to promote an in-depth understanding, and the confidence to tackle any basic problem in relativity.

Book Nonlinear Gravitodynamics

Download or read book Nonlinear Gravitodynamics written by Remo Ruffini and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a detailed, up-to-date account of the Lense-Thirring effect and its implications for physics and astrophysics. Starting from a profound intuition of Lense and Thirring in 1918, based on a simple solution to the linearized Einstein field equations, this has emerged in the past four decades as a phenomenon of extraordinary importance in cosmology, radio jets in quasars, and the physics of neutron stars and black holes, besides leading to some of the most sophisticated experiments ever performed in the space surrounding our planet. The book contains the contributions presented at the ?Third William Fairbank Meeting?, which have been expanded by adding a complete set of classical and prominent contemporary papers on this subject and a general introduction by R Ruffini.
