Book The Bridge To Organic Chemistry

Download or read book The Bridge To Organic Chemistry written by Claude H. Yoder and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-10-15 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Make the leap from introductory to organic chemistry The transition from first-year chemistry to an organic chemistry course can be a challenge for many students. Not only must they recall their first-year studies of bonding, structure, and reactivity, but they must also master a whole new set of nomenclature, along with the critical skill of "electron-pushing." Reviewing the fundamentals and carefully introducing the important new concepts, The Bridge to Organic Chemistry: Concepts and Nomenclature helps students smoothly bridge the gap to organic chemistry. Concise and carefully structured, The Bridge to Organic Chemistry helps students strengthen their mastery of fundamental concepts from an introductory chemistry course and then introduces them to the new concepts of organic chemistry. Step by step, the reader will: Review important concepts such as structural isomerism, Lewis formulas, hybridization, and resonance and understand their roles in modern organic chemistry Learn organic nomenclature along with the critical skill of "electron-pushing" Explore mechanisms that utilize many of the concepts: Lewis acid-base chemistry, rate laws, enthalpy changes, bond energies and electronegativities, substituent effects, structure, stereochemistry, and the visualization of electron flow through the electron-pushing model With a clear progressive style and substantial review at each step, The Bridge to Organic Chemistry puts organic chemistry and its nomenclature within the grasp of every student.

Book The Chemistry of Nitrogen

Download or read book The Chemistry of Nitrogen written by K. Jones and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemistry of Nitrogen provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of nitrogen and its compounds. This book discusses the importance of nitrogen compounds in the soil. Organized into 18 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the history of nitrogen and its compounds and the first synthetic process involving nitrogen compounds. This text then examines the preparation of synthesis gas for the production of ammonia. Other chapters consider the concentration of nitrogen gas on the Earth's atmosphere and the techniques used to handle volatile nitrogen–halogen compounds that are similar to those used for other reactive halogen compounds. This book discusses as well the chemistry of compounds in which nitrogen is bonded to one or more of the remaining elements. The final chapter deals with the gasometric method for the determination of either inorganic or organic nitrates. This book is a valuable resource for organic and inorganic chemists.

Book The Chemistry of Nonbenzenoid Aromatic Compounds II

Download or read book The Chemistry of Nonbenzenoid Aromatic Compounds II written by R. Kreher and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemistry of Nonbenzenoid Aromatic Compounds — II is a collection of plenary lectures presented at the Second International Symposium on the Chemistry of Nonbenzenoid Aromatic Compounds. Starting with a review of the synthesis and study of select heterocycles, the book includes results and developments in this area. A significant part of the reviews of nonbenzenoid aromatic compounds is the examination of annulenese that contain larger Huckel systems than benzene. The demand for better synthetic methods in the study has increased as bridged annulenes have been made for suitable models of testing theoretical concepts. Early studies on some nonbenzenoid aromatic compounds and the related problems are also discussed. A description of the syntheses of several polycyclic systems that contain potential cyclobutadiene rings follows. Studies are made on 8-oxoheptafulvene chemistry after earlier chemical and physical examination of heptafulvene and related compounds provided avenues for research. Some aspects of strained systems, [4]annulene and its Ch+adduct are reviewed in terms of usefulness when applying a theoretical guide, proving the calculations and experiments. Studies on higher membered annulenyl ions belonging to five groups are also discussed. Research chemists, students, and professors in chemistry and related fields such as organic chemistry will find this collection useful.

This book was released on 2022-09-06 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1.1 General Introduction- Before the nineth century, the chemist generally believed that compounds obtained from living organisms were endowed with the vital force that distinguished them from inorganic compounds. According to the concept of vitalism ( vital force theory) organic matter was endowed with the "vital force"1 During the first half of the nine th century, some of organic compounds were reported. Around 1816 Michel chevreul started a study of soaps made of various fats and alkali es. He separated the different acids that, in combination with the alkali, produced the soap. Since these were all individuals compounds, he demonstrated that it was possible to make a chemical change in various fats (which traditionally come from organic sources.) producing new compounds, without "vital force" Wohler was always cautious about claiming that he had disproved the theory of vital force, this event has often been thought of as a turning point1 Organic chemistry is a chemistry, sub disciplined involving the scientific study of the structure, properties, and reaction of organic compounds and organic materials that is, matter in its various forms that contain carbon atoms 2 3. study of structure include using spectroscopy (eg. NM R), mass spectrometry, and other physical and chemical methods to determine the chemical composition and constitution of organic compounds and materials. Study of properties include both physical properties and chemical properties, and uses similar methods as well as methods to evaluate chemical reactivity, with the aim to understand the behaviour of the organic matter in its pure form (when possible), but also in solutions, mixtures, and fabricated forms. The study of organic reactions includes probing their scope,

Download or read book The Organic Chemistry of Nitrogen Classic Reprint written by Nevil Vincent Sidgwick and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-08 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Organic Chemistry of Nitrogen This book originated in lectures given to more advanced students in Oxford. Its object is thus primarily educational, and it is in no sense intended as a work of reference. I have endeavoured to give an account of the present state of knowledge on those parts of the subject which are of the greatest theoretical interest, and at the same time to avoid overloading the text with the names of less important substances. In dealing with the vast group of heterocyclic compounds, I have thought it better not to attempt even an enumeration of all the known types of ring; but I have selected a few of the more important, and discussed these in detail. I have assumed throughout. That the reader has at least an elementary knowledge of organic and of general chemistry. Book excerpt: The amide bond represents a privileged motif in chemistry. The recent years have witnessed an explosion of interest in the development of new chemical transformations of amides. These developments cover an impressive range of catalytic N–C bond activation in electrophilic, Lewis acid, radical, and nucleophilic reaction pathways, among other transformations. Equally relevant are structural and theoretical studies that provide the basis for chemoselective manipulation of amidic resonance. This monograph on amide bonds offers a broad survey of recent advances in activation of amides and addresses various approaches in the field.
