Book Ruthenium II Arene Complexes for Asymmetric Catalysis

Download or read book Ruthenium II Arene Complexes for Asymmetric Catalysis written by Zhenyu Zhu and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the last few years, a significant contribution to the discovery of sp2C−H activation processes and useful applications for cross-coupling C−C bond formation has been achieved by the use of ruthenium(II) arene catalysts. The aim of this thesis is to describe a modular approach for the synthesis of several ruthenium(II) arene complexes with the potential for C−H activation. Another cutting-edge field, catalytic enantioselective functionalization of C−H bonds by transitional metal catalysts, has also been realized within the last few years. It represents a highly atom- and step-economic approach toward the generation of structural complexity. However, the majority of current methodologies rely on the usage of late third- row transition metals such as pallidum, iridium and rhodium. There is a need that motivates the search for cheaper, relative earth abundant metals that could have similar catalytic ability. Herein is also represented a preliminary study of a ruthenium(II)-catalyzed enantioselective access to chromane moiety enabled by chiral transient directing group.

Book Olefin Polymerization

Download or read book Olefin Polymerization written by Walter Kaminsky and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2006-08-18 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With an enormous velocity, olefin polymerization has expanded to one of the most significant fields in polymers since the first industrial use about 50 years ago. In 2005, 100 million tons of polyolefins were produced - the biggest part was catalyzed by metallorganic compounds. The Hamburg Macromolecular Symposium 2005 with the title "Olefin Polymerization" involved topics such as new catalysts and cocatalysts, kinetics, mechanism and polymer reaction engineering, synthesis of special polymers, and characterization of polyolefins. The conference combined scientists from different disciplines to discuss latest research results of polymers and to offer each other the possibility of cooperation. This is reflected in this volume, which contains invited lectures and selected posters presented at the symposium.

  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2002-09-19
  • ISBN : 0080529178
  • Pages : 433 pages

Download or read book Clathrochelates written by Y.Z. Voloshin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-09-19 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clathrochelates are compounds which contain a metal ion encapsulated within a three dimensional cage of macrobicyclic ligand atoms. Within this cage the metal has unique properties and is to a great extent isolated from environmental factors. Such complexes are suitable as models of the most essential biological systems, membrane transport, electron carriers, highly selective and sensitive analytical reagents, catalysts for photochemical and redox processes, cation and anion receptors, etc. The aim of this monograph is to generalize and analyze experimental and theoretical data on clathrochelates in order to promote further research in this promising field of chemistry. Chapter 1 gives general concepts of complexes with encapsulated metal ions, discusses basic specific features of these compounds, considers and characterizes the main types of compounds with encapsulated metal ions and the main classes of clathrochelates, and includes the current nomenclature. Chapter 2 deals with the pathways of clathrochelate synthesis and the general procedures for the synthesis of macrobicyclic tris-dioximates, phosphorus-containing tris-diiminates, sepulchrates, sarcophagi-nates, and polyene and other types of clathrochelate complexes. Chapter 3 concerns studies of the electronic and spatial structure of clathrochelate complexes. In Chapter 4, the kinetics and mechanism of synthesis and decomposition reactions of macrobicyclic tris-dioximates, sarcophaginates, and sepulchrates in solution and gas phases are discussed. Chapter 5 considers the electrochemical, photochemical, and some other characteristics of clathrochelates and their applications associated with these characteristics. Finally, the practical applications of the unique properties of clathrochelates and perspectives on the synthesis of new clathrochelates are described in Chapters 6 and 7, respectively.

Book Examining Metal ligand and Metal metal Cooperativity in Ruthenium II Bis protic N heterocyclic Carbene Phosphine Complexes for CO2 and Related Substrate Transformations

Download or read book Examining Metal ligand and Metal metal Cooperativity in Ruthenium II Bis protic N heterocyclic Carbene Phosphine Complexes for CO2 and Related Substrate Transformations written by Mary Cecilia Johnson and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A novel bis-(protic N-heterocyclic carbene, PNHC) phosphine ligand platform is explored to understand its role in CO2 hydrogenation catalysis and as a supporting scaffold for bimetallic complexes. Optimized syntheses for the bis-(PNHC) phosphine ligand and its metalation with a Ru(II) metal center, as well as the synthesis and coordination chemistry of a library of complexes with varying ancillary ligands (2,2’-bipyridine, 4,4’-dibromo-2,2’-bipyridine, 4,4’-dimethoxy-2,2’-bipyridine, and bis-(diphenylphosphino)ethane) are shown. We describe the hydrogenation of CO2 to formate catalyzed by a Ru(II) bis-(protic N-heterocyclic carbene, p-NHC) phosphine complex [Ru(bpy)(MeCN)(PPh(p-NHC)2)](PF6)2 (1). Under catalytic conditions (20 [micromole] catalyst, 20 bar CO2, 60 bar H2, 5 mL THF, 140 °C, 16 hrs) the activity of 1 is limited only by the amount of K3PO4 present in the reaction, yielding a nearly one to one ratio of turn over number (TON) to equivalents of K3PO4 (relative to 1), with the highest TON = 8,040. Additionally, analysis of the reaction solution post-run reveals the catalyst intact with no free ligand observed. Stoichiometric studies, including examination of unique carbamate and hydride complexes as relevant intermediates, were carried out to probe the operative mechanism and understand the importance of metal-ligand cooperativity in this system. We also describe the synthesis and characterization of [Ru(bpy)(solvent)(P(Ph)(NHC)2-K2-N,N'-M(solvent)2)]2+ (M = Co(II), Zn(II)) and subsequent reactivity with hydroxide and formate. Facile inter- and intramolecular cooperation is observed and the structurally responsive NHC-Cobalt-NHC binding pocket is investigated.

Book Hydrogen Transfer Reactions

Download or read book Hydrogen Transfer Reactions written by Gabriela Guillena and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-27 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series Topics in Current Chemistry Collections presents critical reviews from the journal Topics in Current Chemistry organized in topical volumes. The scope of coverage is all areas of chemical science including the interfaces with related disciplines such as biology, medicine and materials science. The goal of each thematic volume is to give the non-specialist reader, whether in academia or industry, a comprehensive insight into an area where new research is emerging which is of interest to a larger scientific audience. Each review within the volume critically surveys one aspect of that topic and places it within the context of the volume as a whole. The most significant developments of the last 5 to 10 years are presented using selected examples to illustrate the principles discussed. The coverage is not intended to be an exhaustive summary of the field or include large quantities of data, but should rather be conceptual, concentrating on the methodological thinking that will allow the non-specialist reader to understand the information presented. Contributions also offer an outlook on potential future developments in the field.

Book Phosphorus 31 NMR Spectroscopy

Download or read book Phosphorus 31 NMR Spectroscopy written by Olaf Kühl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-08-22 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance is a powerful tool, especially for the identification of 1 13 hitherto unknown organic compounds. H- and C-NMR spectroscopy is known and applied by virtually every synthetically working Organic Chemist. Con- quently, the factors governing the differences in chemical shift values, based on chemical environment, bonding, temperature, solvent, pH, etc. , are well understood, and specialty methods developed for almost every conceivable structural challenge. Proton and carbon NMR spectroscopy is part of most bachelors degree courses, with advanced methods integrated into masters degree and other graduate courses. In view of this universal knowledge about proton and carbon NMR spectr- copy within the chemical community, it is remarkable that heteronuclear NMR is still looked upon as something of a curiosity. Admittedly, most organic compounds contain only nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur atoms, as well as the obligatory hydrogen and carbon atoms, elements that have an unfavourable isotope distribution when it comes to NMR spectroscopy. Each of these three elements has a dominant isotope: 14 16 32 16 32 N (99. 63% natural abundance), O (99. 76%), and S (95. 02%), with O, S, and 34 14 S (4. 21%) NMR silent. N has a nuclear moment I = 1 and a sizeable quadrupolar moment that makes the NMR signals usually very broad and dif cult to analyse.
