Book O God Strengthen Our Hands

Download or read book O God Strengthen Our Hands written by Tommie and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-01-26 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are learning that our purpose in life is far greater than our personal fulfillment. When we have fulfilled our careers, married the love our life, enjoyed our family, purchased our homes and have pursued our highest dreams, there is yet something missing in the human life. Our human abilities are so limited and weak, that is when we look to God the strength that is greater than anything a human can offer. His strength is able to help us in every walk of life, sustain us, guide us, comfort us doing the most critical times, and help us to learn more about ourselves and our families. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. But it must begin with a personal relationship with the true and living God who created us. All through-out history our ancestors did not allow their present circumstance or situation to determine who they were and what goals they must accomplish. Although we cannot change the past we have the potential to chart our destiny and arrange a better future for our children, grandchildren, families and the nation when God Strengthen our hands.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bring the Bible to Your Students like Never Before Communicating the Scriptures is much like building a bridge. However, instead of ravines or rivers, the teacher must span both cultural boundaries and great gulfs of time between the present and the pasts of Moses, David, Jesus, and Paul. Though God’s Word is always relevant, the teacher must help students see Scripture’s vast treasures. The effective, engaging Bible teacher must, therefore, become creative. Together, Lawrence Richards and Gary Bredfeldt have created the ultimate guide to building bridges for those seeking to learn about God’s Word. Creative Bible Teaching offers a five-step process by which Christian educators can construct a bridge across time, geography, and culture to help students of all ages connect with God’s Word. This newly revised edition makes learning about God’s Word more accessible for both teachers and students today. Simple, clear, and memorable, the method laid out in Creative Bible Teaching provides a sure-fire way of communicating God's Word in a way that sticks.

Book Disciple III Remember Who You Are Teacher Helps

Download or read book Disciple III Remember Who You Are Teacher Helps written by Nellie M. Moser and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2010-09-01 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teacher Helps The Teacher Helps provides an outline for an orientation session and process suggestions for each of the weekly group sessions. It does not contain new or additional content for the leader to present to the group. A one-page teaching plan is provided for each session. Weekly group sessions follow a set pattern, with designated amounts of time for each step. Suggestions for group activity are specific and clearly related to the Scripture being studied. In the front of the teacher helps is a section of general information on effectively using the study manual, preparing to lead the weekly group meeting, following the proper schedule and procedure, tips for leading discussion, and suggestions for creating and maintaining a caring climate in the study group. Process suggestions in the teacher helps enable full participation by all members of the group as a result of disciplined daily study. A one-page plan for each of the weekly group sessions follows an established schedule and procedure, with an amount of time designated for each section in the plan. Each session plan includes suggestions for group study of a selected passage of Scripture. Disciple III Remember Who You Are is the third study in the four-phase DISCIPLE program. The driving idea in this study is the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. The word You in the title is meant to be heard both in its singular form (the individual) and its plural form (the community). We are a community of memory. Participants in this 32 week study will read the major and minor Old Testament prophets, with the exception of Daniel, and will read the thirteen Letters traditionally attributed to Paul. To establish the historical context in which the prophets spoke for God, daily reading assignments draw also on the books of Deuteronomy through Chronicles. Several themes weave their way through the study – the call to remember; the call to repentance; the need for renewed vision; and the place of community. The prophets and Paul are continually calling hearers and readers back to their God and to a sense of who they are as a people"set apart." Commitment and Time Involved 32 week study Three and one-half to four hours of independent study each week (40 minutes daily for leaders and 30 minutes daily for group members) in preparation for weekly group meetings. Attendance at weekly 2.5 hour meetings

Book Disciple IV Under the Tree of Life Teacher Helps

Download or read book Disciple IV Under the Tree of Life Teacher Helps written by Various and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2010-09-01 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DISCIPLE IV: Under the Tree of Life, is the final study in the four-phase DISCIPLE program and is prepared for those who have completed Disciple I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study. The study concentrates on the Writings (Old Testament books not in the Torah or the Prophets), the Gospel of John, and Revelation. Emphasis on the Psalms as Israel’s hymnbook and prayer book leads naturally to an emphasis on worship in the study. Present through the entire study is the sense of living toward completion – toward the climax of the message and the promise, extravagantly pictured in Revelation. The image of the tree and the color gold emphasize the prod and promise in the Scriptures for DISCIPLE IV: Under the Tree of Life. The word under in the title is meant to convey invitation, welcome, sheltering, security, and rest – home at last. Commitment and Time Involved 32 week study three and one-half to four hours of independent study each week (40 minutes daily for leaders and 30 minutes daily for group members) in preparation for weekly group meetings. Attendance at weekly 2.5 hour meetings. Teacher Helps The Teacher Helps provides an outline for an orientation session and process suggestions for each of the weekly group sessions. It does not contain new or additional content for the leader to present to the group. A one-page teaching plan is provided for each session. Weekly group sessions follow a set patter, with designated amounts of time for each step. Suggestions for group activity are specific and clearly related to the Scripture being studied. Ample questions for use in discussion are included. The leader both guides the process and participates in all small- group activities in the weekly group session. Leaders will find detailed information and instructions on making necessary arrangements for and preparing group members to participate in three potentially life-changing experiences at the conclusion of Under the Tree of Life – a video-led worship experience of the book of Revelation in Session 31 and a service of foot washing and a service of Holy Communion in Session 32. In the front of the teacher helps is a section of general information on effectively using the study manual, preparing to lead the weekly group meeting, following the proper schedule and procedure, tips for leading discussion, and suggestions for creating and maintaining a caring climate in the study group. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1988, The General Conference of the United Methodist Church restored class leaders and class meetings to the Book of Discipline after an absence of fifty years. In this volume, David Lowes Watson explains what the recovery of this tradition can mean for congregations, and offers some guidelines for the revitalized office of class leader. Adapting the later Methodist class meeting as a pastoral subdivision of the congregation, Watson shows how class leaders, under the supervision of the pastor, can nurture the discipline of other church members in light of a "General Rule of Discipline" derived from the early Methodist societies: "To witness to Jesus Christ in the world, and to follow his teachings through acts of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit." This volume is the second in a trilogy : Covenant Discipleship, Class Leaders, and Forming Christian Disciples.

Book Improving Your Prayer Life through a Study of the Psalter

Download or read book Improving Your Prayer Life through a Study of the Psalter written by Randall C. Bailey and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-10-04 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How should we pray? Do we believe God answers our prayers? Is it acceptable to complain to God? Should we bargain with him to receive the response we desire? Why do we praise God? Does our praise make him any more “God”? John Calvin argued basically that the purpose of prayer is to realign the petitioner’s feelings and beliefs with God’s. Many today seem to have adopted this idea. One says, “Why pray at all. God knows everything so my prayers cannot change his mind. I must pray to discover God’s will for my life. I must realign my will with God’s will for my life.” In contrast, the psalmists assumed a reciprocal process. They believed they could bring pressures on God to answer their requests. They would bargain with God and promise him certain things if he would only grant their petitions. Indeed, this was part of the process. They would obligate themselves to praise God if he would grant their desires. Such bargaining was the foundation of their prayers. Comparisons of Calvin’s views with the psalmists’ allows the reader to investigate the nature of his or her prayer life and make improvements where necessary.
