Book Strength of Structural Elements

Download or read book Strength of Structural Elements written by Zbigniew Brzoska and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 789 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume describes engineering applications of the mechanics of deformable bodies and the elasticity theory relevant to them. It is concerned mainly with one-dimensional problems, which arise because either one of the dimensions of a body is much greater than the remaining two or the functions of two or three variables may be reduced to one variable.Problems of this type are of twofold importance. Firstly, many engineering problems can be described with sufficient accuracy just in this way. Secondly, unidimensional problems with known analytical solutions may serve either for testing numerical methods or for the analysis of fundamental concepts and phenomena, whose physical nature in three-dimensional approach might be obscured by the analytical-numerical aspect. The authors have confined themselves for the most part to the analysis of elastic behaviour of structures; however some attention is also given to elastic problems. A deterministic approach has been applied throughout the book. It will serve as a springboard for further work with stochastic approaches which are being increasingly used in engineering practice today.

Book Advanced Strength and Applied Elasticity

Download or read book Advanced Strength and Applied Elasticity written by A. C. Ugural and published by Prentice Hall PTR. This book was released on 1995 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For aeronautical, civil, and mechanical engineers. State-of-the-art and practical in perspective, this classic exploration of stress analysis focuses on techniques for analysis in realistic settings. Unusually comprehensive, it provides uniquely balanced coverage of mechanics of materials, theory of elasticity methods, and computer-oriented numerical methods all supported with a broad range of fully worked-out examples. The Fourth Edition adds/expands coverage of mechanics of materials theory; three-dimensional stress and strain transformations; strain energy in common structural members; stress concentration in typical members; elastic-plastic analysis of thick-walled cylinders; application of strain energy and variational methods to beams on elastic foundations, buckling of columns, and plates; a complete new set of illustrative examples and problems many taken from engineering practice; and tables covering computer programs for principal stresses and area properties, deflection of beams, material properties, and conversion factors.

Book Design of Structural Elements
