Download or read book Strategic Renewal The Speed of Change written by Jens Kaulbars and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2011-11-30 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven, course: Organisational Behaviour & Change Management, language: English, abstract: People change, organisations change, whole industries change. This fact can be clearly observed in all aspects of human life. Only a few weeks ago the author communicated with an employee of Thomas Cook, one of the largest tour operators of the world, and expressed his bewilderment about the absence of the destinations Australia and New Zealand in the new catalogue of the product management department he used to work at. The answer simply was that another department would now be responsible for these destinations. Actually these were not the only news. The team has been relocated to another floor, has been merged with another team, and by the way has a new boss. Moreover, only days ago the author read the news from a relaunch of Air Marin as no-frills tour operating brand of Thomas Cook. This brand did already exist until 2003 and was then abolished to strengthen the Thomas Cook brand Neckermann Preisknüller. These are only small changes within a large company, but they tell the tale of a larger process taking place behind the scenes, a process of change, of strategic renewal. But what is strategic renewal and why are so many companies are involved in change processes despite the estimation that about 70% of all renewal processes do fail.

Download or read book Strategic Renewal written by Aybars Tuncdogan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-03-15 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strategic Renewal is an original research anthology offering insight into a subject area which, although critical for the sustained success of organizations, has received relatively little attention as distinct from the more general phenomenon of strategic change. Firstly, by providing a summary of the literature, this research anthology helps graduate students and new researchers grasp the current state of affairs in the field. Secondly, this research anthology will help update the knowledge base of the existing researchers in the field. By bringing together various studies, the research anthology determines the core concepts of the field and elucidates the key gaps and future research areas. Through contributions building on the knowledge bases of other disciplines, this research anthology develops an interdisciplinary research agenda, giving the reader an in-depth understanding of the mediating, moderating, and antecedent variables concerning strategic renewal. Strategic Renewal aims to provide a state-of-understanding to the subject, as well as a clear picture of the cross-disciplinary landscape that informs the subject. Thus, this research anthology is essential reading for managers, consultants, and other practitioners, as well as students and scholars of business.

Besides, change and transformations are often used interchangeably. Thus the correct perspective of viewing change and transformations is missing from management literature. How is change different from transformation? Do all changes lead to renewal? What are the characteristics of strategic changes? This re-addresses some of our current assumptions and understanding of change and transformation when viewed through both academic and business lenses. It is a balanced and well-rounded perspective on how strategic change and transformation can be brought about successfully in organizations specifically with the perspective from an emerging economy like India.

Download or read book Your Strategy Needs a Strategy written by Martin Reeves and published by Harvard Business Review Press. This book was released on 2015-05-19 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You think you have a winning strategy. But do you? Executives are bombarded with bestselling ideas and best practices for achieving competitive advantage, but many of these ideas and practices contradict each other. Should you aim to be big or fast? Should you create a blue ocean, be adaptive, play to win—or forget about a sustainable competitive advantage altogether? In a business environment that is changing faster and becoming more uncertain and complex almost by the day, it’s never been more important—or more difficult—to choose the right approach to strategy. In this book, The Boston Consulting Group’s Martin Reeves, Knut Haanæs, and Janmejaya Sinha offer a proven method to determine the strategy approach that is best for your company. They start by helping you assess your business environment—how unpredictable it is, how much power you have to change it, and how harsh it is—a critical component of getting strategy right. They show how existing strategy approaches sort into five categories—Be Big, Be Fast, Be First, Be the Orchestrator, or simply Be Viable—depending on the extent of predictability, malleability, and harshness. In-depth explanations of each of these approaches will provide critical insight to help you match your approach to strategy to your environment, determine when and how to execute each one, and avoid a potentially fatal mismatch. Addressing your most pressing strategic challenges, you’ll be able to answer questions such as: • What replaces planning when the annual cycle is obsolete? • When can we—and when should we—shape the game to our advantage? • How do we simultaneously implement different strategic approaches for different business units? • How do we manage the inherent contradictions in formulating and executing different strategies across multiple businesses and geographies? Until now, no book brings it all together and offers a practical tool for understanding which strategic approach to apply. Get started today.

However, strategy has never been more important. #2 The number of strategy tools and frameworks has grown massively since the early 1960s. And far from obvious are the answers to how these approaches relate to one another or when they should and shouldn’t be deployed. #3 The strategy palette is a unifying choice framework that helps leaders match their approach to strategy to the circumstances at hand and execute it effectively. It consists of five archetypal approaches to strategy, which can be applied to different parts of your business. #4 The book is built on a broad body of evidence. It is the result of half a decade of research within the BCG Strategy Institute, numerous conversations with clients, and a detailed survey of 150 firms from industries as diverse as banking, pharmaceuticals, high tech, and agri-food.
