Book excerpt: Every Christian should have a story of faith to tell. When we take time to recognize God’s hand in our everyday lives, our stories of faith will write themselves. Within the pages of this book you will be inspired to: Spend time daily reading God’s Word. Spend time daily pouring out your heart to the only one who can move heaven and earth to meet your specific needs. Spend time daily anticipating the Good Shepherd to lead you in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Start recording your own stories of faith to pass on as a legacy to the next generation. Sometimes we believers carry a false sense of failure, thinking we are simply not doing enough for the Lord. What we often fail to remember is it is not what we do for the Lord that grows our faith, but what we allow Him to do for us and through us. The first mindset causes us to focus on ourselves and fuels our desire for the recognition and accolades only the Lord deserves. The second mindset gives glory where glory is due. God is to be glorified in our lives every day. May you be encouraged.

Book excerpt: Yesterday's stones of remembrance remind us of today's good and faithful God.Today's Christian community has forgotten the art of remembrance, and, consequently, forfeited the blessings that follow it. Perhaps you too feel the heaviness of this void in your own life. Perhaps you too are left longing for the blessings you were created to experience through spiritual recollection. In Joshua 4, God commands the Israelites to collect twelve stones with which to remember His mighty, miraculous hand. Each time they saw those stones, they were reminded of their God, their identity, their source of strength, and their God's ability to move once again on their behalf. As we face the trials and struggles of today, it is imperative that we too collect our own spiritual stones that we might be reminded of this truth: The God who moved at one point in time is still able to move in the present moment. In These Twelve Stones, a crossover between the Christian living and memoir genres, Rachel?Walks readers through what the Bible has to say about remembrance ?Teaches Christ followers of all ages how they can collect and utilize their own stones ?Relives twelve of her personal stones ?Recounts God's faithfulness throughout her own lifeJoin along in a journey towards Biblical remembrance's restoration packed with candid stories, encouragement, challenge, and truth.

Book Stones of Rememberance

Download or read book Stones of Rememberance written by Gene Garrick and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-09 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you taken time to think about the past and what God has done in your life? The Bible contains a special story that clearly demonstrates the importance of remembering. It is found in the book of Joshua. The story involves a great victory, deliverance, and the placing of twelve stones in a pile as a memorial that became known as Stones of Remembrance. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." This familiar quote, by George Santayana, tells us the importance of learning from the lessons of the past. Equally important is the discovery of the richness found in generational blessings and heritage. The connecting of generations and the sharing of love gives meaning to life. I invite you to share in my life story and testimony about personal stones of remembrance. It is my prayer that you will learn from the Scriptures contained within why remembering God's faithfulness, goodness, and mercy are important keys to future victory. "Gene Garrick has taught the Body of Christ about "stones of remembrances" for some time. Now he has put those nuggets into this book. I have been blessed by his ministry over the years. I think you will be also by reading what's on his heart about learning from the past." Quin Sherrer, co-author of Lord, I Need Your Healing Power and 28 additional books. Gene Garrick is the founder of Walk The Way Ministries in Columbus, Mississippi, and Waukaway Springs Christian Retreat Center near Laurel, Mississippi. He has been a businessman for 35 years and is an ordained minister. He leads retreats and speaks to churches and groups throughout the Southeast. He can be contacted at [email protected].

Book excerpt: During times of despair, we often feel alone, like we are the only ones going through a horrific trial. It is at this specific time, when life has us in a chokehold, that we look to God and find that we are not the only ones in this predicament and that he is right there with us. We need something to remind us of how we got over it the last time, perhaps a journal, a Scripture, or a special song to refer to in times of distress. These are stones of remembrance that will enable you to quiet the storms of life and control them instead of letting them control you. This book is the basket of stones that helped me remember how I made it through and who helped me. I pray that this book will encourage readers to gather their stones and put them into a basket they can hold on to so they can remember how they overcame it the last time. And when you see someone else going through a storm, show them your basket that they, too, may find peace.

Book excerpt: There is a bell that hangs on the wall in the chemo room. Patients get to ring this bell when all their rounds of chemo are completed. They ring the bell with such glee and joy. Chemo is finished, and life can carry on. I hate that bell. I know that sounds foolish, but I really, really, really hate that bell. The doctors told me the second time my breast cancer returned that it had metastasized to my bones and lymph system and so it was incurable. I will never get to ring it unless God chooses to do a miracle. Instead I sit in the chemo room and stare at the bell and smile when others ring it. Some days I want to take the bell and throw it out the closest window, and other times it takes all I have to not go up and ring it and ring it some more. I am not sure if I would be ringing it in hope or defiance. Such foolishness, but I hate hearing that bell ring. I smile, cheer, and clap when someone else rings the bell, but inside I hurt. The bell makes me angry, and I sit and ask God why. Why not me? Why? I am sure that everyone can relate to something in their life they have wanted to do so badly but cant. It may be a foolish desire, but it is part of who we are.

Book excerpt: As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. --Psalm 18:30 God's grandest gift to women is the calling of leadership in the home, the workplace, and their communities. Servant leadership is a precious honor. The leadership journey can have bumpy roads and valleys, which paves the way for valuable lessons that mold and strengthen each woman to reach her highest potential. The most difficult times will often be in the dark places where the most valuable lessons are learned. God does not waste our tears, heartaches, or sorrows, for He knows them all. The trials are not to harm. They are designed to add value to our life as a master potter molds the clay into a beautiful piece of art. We, too, are beautiful. God created each one of us individually beautiful for His glory. This book is a combination of dark places, hard lessons learned through the valley as a single mom and woman in leadership. The lessons that have taught me is that my life is not for myself or to be lived with selfish ambitions. My life is to glorify God by adding value to those around me in serving them. When Jesus came down from heaven to earth, He came to serve. Jesus's actions reflected an example of servant leadership. I am convinced that God has called me to serve others by not only sharing the hard times but sharing how my future has evolved for His glory, how He can change your life eternally. Our past does not define who we are; the steps we take forward do, choosing to move forward, glorifying the Lord, and sharing all He has done in my leadership journey for His glory. My hope is every woman will recognize her worth in Christ, the gift of servant leadership.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Download or read book Hand Print and Heart Print Memorials written by Verna-Lea Turner and published by . This book was released on 2007-04 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hand-Print and Heart-Print Memorials indeed could be used as a textbook for teaching Christian principles. Through the testimonies and encounters of seasoned people of faith, we learn about the necessity of "song" and praise; about preparation for the "soon return of Christ;" about the significance of knowing the character of God and of having respect for God. We learn, too, about the visitation of angels and of Holy Spirit; about the power of words-both ours and what the Word of God says; about doing spiritual warfare for our families; about the price, but great reward, of learning to live a surrendered life to the Giver of life; about the indispensability of prayer-and how to pray--and of setting right priorities. We learn how to handle difficult problems and how to live victorious lives under pressing circumstances. Most importantly, we learn about the love of God, His grace and compassion, and how He longs to be our All-that is, to be everything needed by each of us! What more could a person desire? This book is a collection of memories for all generations! "Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments Of His mouth, ." --Psalm 105: 5

Book A Stranger in the House of God

Download or read book A Stranger in the House of God written by John Koessler and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-08-30 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up the son of agnostics, John Koessler saw a Catholic church on one end of the street and a Baptist on the other. In the no-man’s land between the two, this curious outside wondered about the God they worshipped—and began a lifelong search to comprehend the grace and mystery of God. A Stranger in the House of God addresses fundamental questions and struggles faced by spiritual seekers and mature believers. Like a contemporary Pilgrim’s Progress, it traces the author’s journey and explores his experiences with both charismatic and evangelical Christianity. It also describes his transformation from religious outsider to ordained pastor. John Koessler provides a poignant and often humorous window into the interior of the soul as he describes his journey from doubt and struggle with the church to personal faith
