Book excerpt: This publication offers a clear perspective on how to improve learning in basic education in Sub-Saharan Africa, based on extremely rigorous and exhaustive analysis of a large volume of data. The authors shine a light on the low levels of learning and on the contributory factors. They have not hesitated to raise difficult issues, such as the need to implement a consistent policy on the language of instruction, which is essential to ensuring the foundations of learning for all children. Using the framework of "From Science to Service Delivery" the book urges policy makers to look at the entire chain from policy design, informed by knowledge adapted to the local context, to implementation.

Book The Global Nonlinear Stability of the Minkowski Space PMS 41

Download or read book The Global Nonlinear Stability of the Minkowski Space PMS 41 written by Demetrios Christodoulou and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this work is to provide a proof of the nonlinear gravitational stability of the Minkowski space-time. More precisely, the book offers a constructive proof of global, smooth solutions to the Einstein Vacuum Equations, which look, in the large, like the Minkowski space-time. In particular, these solutions are free of black holes and singularities. The work contains a detailed description of the sense in which these solutions are close to the Minkowski space-time, in all directions. It thus provides the mathematical framework in which we can give a rigorous derivation of the laws of gravitation proposed by Bondi. Moreover, it establishes other important conclusions concerning the nonlinear character of gravitational radiation. The authors obtain their solutions as dynamic developments of all initial data sets, which are close, in a precise manner, to the flat initial data set corresponding to the Minkowski space-time. They thus establish the global dynamic stability of the latter. Originally published in 1994. Book Occult Holidays Or God s Holy Days which

Download or read book Occult Holidays Or God s Holy Days which written by Fred R. Coulter and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Confused and disillusioned, many today are wondering, "Is there a God? Where is He? What, if anything, is God doing?" Mankind sees scant evidence in religion of God's direct involvement in the course of humanity. Shackled by tradition and religious myths, even professing "Christianity" gropes in a vacuum of ignorance regarding God's true plan for mankind. Why? Because man has (for the most part, unknowingly) rejected the key to that plan-the knowledge of the seventh-day Sabbath and holy days of God. Instead, traditional holidays-including Sunday-have been adopted and accepted as "Christian." Declaring the "end from the beginning," the true God of the Bible is actively involved in the affairs of man, ordering events according to His master plan as outlined by His Sabbath and feast days. Obviously, Satan the devil hates God's plan-for it also pictures his ultimate removal as the "god of this present age." In what is perhaps one of the greatest conspiracies in the history of mankind, Satan has devised a cleverly disguised counterfeit "Christianity" to blind men from the knowledge of God's true plan. Analogous to King Jeroboam of ancient Israel-who substituted false "feast days" in place of God's true holy days-Satan has deceptively ensnared an unsuspecting world into believing that pagan occult holidays are acceptable forms of worship toward God. In Occult Holidays or God's Holy Days-Which?, Fred R. Coulter brings to light this satanic conspiracy, uncovering in detail the occult roots of today's so-called "Christian" holidays-Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc.-proving that such holidays are, in reality, a form of Satan worship. Mr. Coulter demonstrates how God's seven annual holy days form a type of framework upon which are hung the various aspects of God's plan as they are fulfilled over time. This publication fully illustrates how God's seventh-day Sabbath and holy days picture His plan of salvation for all of mankind, concentrating on the establishment of the Kingdom of God and the eternal rule of Jesus Christ.

Book World Development Report 2013

Download or read book World Development Report 2013 written by World Bank and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2012-10-15 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jobs provide higher earnings and better benefits as countries grow, but they are also a driver of development. Poverty falls as people work their way out of hardship and as jobs empowering women lead to greater investments in children. Efficiency increases as workers get better at what they do, as more productive jobs appear, and less productive ones disappear. Societies flourish as jobs bring together people from different ethnic and social backgrounds and provide alternatives to conflict. Jobs are thus more than a byproduct of economic growth. They are transformational —they are what we earn, what we do, and even who we are. High unemployment and unmet job expectations among youth are the most immediate concerns. But in many developing countries, where farming and self-employment are prevalent and safety nets are modest are best, unemployment rates can be low. In these countries, growth is seldom jobless. Most of their poor work long hours but simply cannot make ends meet. And the violation of basic rights is not uncommon. Therefore, the number of jobs is not all that matters: jobs with high development payoffs are needed. Confronted with these challenges, policy makers ask difficult questions. Should countries build their development strategies around growth, or should they focus on jobs? Can entrepreneurship be fostered, especially among the many microenterprises in developing countries, or are entrepreneurs born? Are greater investments in education and training a prerequisite for employability, or can skills be built through jobs? In times of major crises and structural shifts, should jobs, not just workers, be protected? And is there a risk that policies supporting job creation in one country will come at the expense of jobs in other countries? The World Development Report 2013: Jobs offers answers to these and other difficult questions by looking at jobs as drivers of development—not as derived labor demand—and by considering all types of jobs—not just formal wage employment. The Report provides a framework that cuts across sectors and shows that the best policy responses vary across countries, depending on their levels of development, endowments, demography, and institutions. Policy fundamentals matter in all cases, as they enable a vibrant private sector, the source of most jobs in the world. Labor policies can help as well, even if they are less critical than is often assumed. Development policies, from making smallholder farming viable to fostering functional cities to engaging in global markets, hold the key to success.

Book Social Entrepreneurship

Download or read book Social Entrepreneurship written by Peter C. Brinckerhoff and published by Wiley. This book was released on 2000-04-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until very recently, popular belief held that business skills were not needed at charitable organizations. No longer. Far from interfering with an organization s ability to provide needed services, techniques such as marketing, cash flow analysis, property management, and good use of technology all contribute to a charitable organization s mission capability. Unlike a not-for-profit that thinks of itself as a charity, the successful not-for-profit is really a mission-based business. In an era of rapid change, increasing competition, and the need for more accountability to governments, foundations, insurers, and donors, knowing how to innovate, compete, and take reasonable risks on behalf of the mission is critical. It is, in short, the era of the social entrepreneur. The skilled social entrepreneur has the ability to get the most mission out of the resources at hand including traditional business techniques. Finally, here is a book that will help you learn their techniques. In Social Entrepreneurship, you will learn how successful social entrepreneurs: * Focus on community wants and needs * Match those with core competencies to provide the quality services * Assess risk and gauge opportunity * Develop new project ideas and test their feasibility * Write a business plan * Project finances in the plan * Tap into new sources of funding * Develop the idea of social entrepreneurship throughout the organization * Make sure that mission, not money, is the bottom line Also included are the seven essential steps of the not-for-profit business development process, real-world case studies, sample business plans, and a self-assessment process to determine if your organization is ready for social entrepreneurism. In addition to entrepreneurs, middle managers, policy setters, volunteers, and a host of other important staff members will get value from the mission-beneficial information in this book. Most important, Social Entrepreneurship will help you to help your organization succeed and thrive and make your job more interesting and productive. Praise for Social Entrepreneurship The Art of Mission-Based Venture Development "A great read . . . contains both the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications that those of us in nonprofit leadership badly need. I will share it with my management team and board." Joseph M. Hafey, President and CEO, Public Health Institute "A sound, practical guide for developing social entrepreneurs. Brinckerhoff makes taking mission-related business risks on behalf of the people served less risky with the step-by-step application of business ideas and techniques. Warnings, real-world examples, and hands-on advice keep the reader on track to sensible risk taking." Connie Kirk, President and CEO, Tommy Nobis Center "Peter C. Brinckerhoff s new and masterfully written book has a lot of practical information in it for any organization that wants to learn how to become and stay entrepreneurial. Brinckerhoff provides the right kind of information to any organization interested in succeeding in a highly competitive and service-oriented environment . . . [and] stresses the importance of an organization s encouraging innovation and risk only if it does not lose sight of its core values, its strengths, and its mission. That is excellent advice for any organization and for anyone who ventures into entrepreneurial waters." Andrew H. Souerwine, PhD, Emeritus Professor of Management and Organization The School of Business Administration, University of Connecticut

I, THE LITERATURE WRITER HAD TO BECOME A SPIRITUAL SCIENTIST AND CONTINUE CARL JUNG'S WORK BECAUSE BESIDES BEING THE BEST EXISTENT THERAPY FOR ALL MENTAL ILLNESSES AND EVEN PHYSICAL DISEASES, THE UNCONSCIOUS GUIDANCE IN DREAMS HAS A VERY IMPORTANT RELIGIOUS MEANING.THE UNCONSCIOUS WISDOM HELPS US ELIMINATE ALL SINS AND BEGIN A NEW LIFE, FAR FROM WICKEDNESS. MY SCIENTIFIC STUDIES SIMPLY COMPLETED THE RESEARCH I WAS MAKING THROUGH LITERATURE AND PHILOSOPHY FROM THE TIME I LEARNED HOW TO THINK AND I STARTED WRITING MY FIRST POEMS, STORIES, AND PHILOSOPHICAL CONCLUSIONS. MY WRITINGS WERE INSPIRED BY THE UNCONSCIOUS MIND, WHICH ALSO GIVES US ARTISTIC TALENTS, AND METAPHYSICAL OVER RELIGIOUS AND PHILOSOPHICAL INCLINATIONS, BESIDES PRODUCING OUR DREAMS. SCIENCE GIVES US SO MANY EXPLANATIONS ABOUT OUR REALITY THAT IT IS CONSIDERED AS A SOURCE THAT PROVIDES US WITH THE BEST PROOF WE COULD HAVE ABOUT THE VERACITY OF OUR CONCLUSIONS. YOU STILL NEED RELIGION, PHILOSOPHY, AND ART IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND YOUR COMPLEX REALITY. SCIENCE IS NOT ENOUGH; IT CANNOT SHOW YOU EVERYTHING YOU MUST KNOW IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE MULTIDIMENSIONAL TRUTH OF OUR UNIVERSE, MULTIVERSE, METAVERSE, XENOVERSE, OMNIVERSE, ALPHAVERSE, AND OMEGAVERSE. THIS MEANS THAT THE MATERIALISTIC MINDSET OF THE CURRENT CIVILIZATION DOESN'T HELP YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR REALITY. THE UNCONSCIOUS MIND THAT PRODUCES YOUR DREAMS IS THE GOD YOU FIRST MET IN YOUR FIRST RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCES.
