Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is the excessive growing of bacteria in the lower part of the small intestine. Studies show that 6 to 15% of healthy, aymptomatic people have SIBO. The mechanisms that regulates the balanced bacteria population in the intestines are compromised and SIBO occurs.
