Book A Statistical Summary of Solar Flare Reports and Observatory Practices for the Period 1955 1964

Download or read book A Statistical Summary of Solar Flare Reports and Observatory Practices for the Period 1955 1964 written by Delos C. Jensen and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a summary of the ten years (1955-1964) of observations of solar flares reported by 61 observatories. The flare reports have been published predominantly in the IAU Bulletin and CRPL-F Series Part B. This report summarizes the types of information contained in the flare reports, and the frequency of some parts of these reports as functions of many parameters. The results reflect the need for closer cooperation and coordination of participating observatories in recording and reporting solar flare data.

Book STATISTICS OF SOLAR FLARES

Download or read book STATISTICS OF SOLAR FLARES written by Osamu Takahashi and published by . This book was released on 1942 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information is provided on various characteristics of solar flares, by means of statistical methods, to help in a better theoretical understanding of them. The solar flare's lifetime, area, H-alpha width, development curve, associated filament activation and associated sunspot group characteristics are all analyzed for each of 685 flares observed. Correlation of these parameters with one another and with flare importance and Solar Activity is shown, as well as the frequency distribution. (Author).

Book Physics of Geomagnetic Phenomena

Download or read book Physics of Geomagnetic Phenomena written by S. Matsushita and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics of Geomagnetic phenomena, Volume I covers the significant advances in geomagnetism and the penetrations into the generation of geomagnetic field phenomena. This volume is composed of three chapters. Chapter I deals briefly with the discovery and developments in geomagnetism, followed by discussions on some fundamental topics of the field, including the aurora and geomagnetic storms. This chapter also considers the instruments, geomagnetic stations, and the correlations between geomagnetic indices. Chapter II describes the magnetic properties of minerals and various processes of acquisition of remanent magnetization. This chapter also provides palaeomagnetic data for the direction and intensity of the geomagnetic field in ancient times. Chapter III explores geomagnetic variations caused by solar flares and eclipses. This book will prove useful to physicists, students in upper atmospheric and space topics, and scientists in allied fields with a background in geomagnetism.

Book ASTROSTATISTICS

Download or read book ASTROSTATISTICS written by Mohammed Abdullah Yousef and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis, standard statistical methods are used to explore the relationships among solar activities such as coronal intensity, sunspot numbers, prominences/filaments, and solar flares. The statistical methods include correlation analysis, simple linear regression, analysis of variance, and multiple comparisons. The correlation, and simple linear regression methods show that the sunspot number and prominence/filament have significantly influenced the coronal intensity. The mean levels of coronal intensity in different solar flare classifications are also statistically different in ANOVA. With the multiple comparison methods, the treatment pairs, such as B & A, A & Others, M & X, and X & C, are statistically equal. Likewise, the mean numbers of sunspots over the solar cycles significantly differ.
