Book Sport and Urban Space in Europe

Download or read book Sport and Urban Space in Europe written by Thierry Terret and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-02 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Filling a gap in the literature on the history of sport in Europe, the book brings together complementary studies on diverse aspects of the interrelation between sport and urban space. Going from geography to political science, from sports history to urban and transport history, it suggests a three-fold approach. A first thematic group of researches ranges around "Sport Development and Urban Spaces", exploring the impact of the city on the rise of sport. A second focal point is related to "Sport Policies and Local Identities" with a special attention given to the making of sport venues and competitions in the making of urban identity. A third thematic group includes studies on "Sport Facilities, Engineers and Workers". The articulation of the three parts builds a unique contribution to the process of identity making at a European level. This book was published a sa special issue of the International Journal of the History of Sport.

Book International Sport A Bibliography 1995 1999

Download or read book International Sport A Bibliography 1995 1999 written by Richard William Cox and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2004-04-22 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been an explosion in the quantity of sports history literature published in recent years, making it increasingly difficult to keep abreast of developments. The annual number of publications has increased from around 250 to 1,000 a year over the last decade. This is due in part to the fact that during the late 1980s and 90s, many clubs, leagues and governing bodies of sport have celebrated their centenaries and produced histories to mark this occasion and commemorate their achievements. It is also the result of the growing popularity and realisation of the importance of sport history research within academe. This international bibliography of books, articles, conference proceedings and essays in the English language is a one-stop for the sports historian to know what is new.

Book Sports Didactics in Europe

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past decades, the scientific discipline of Sports Didactics has developed in a heterogenous manner across national borders and individual university locations in Europe. Its position and situatedness has been characterised by its relation to and differentiation from Sports Pedagogy and other sub-disciplines within sports and educational sciences. The significance of Sports Didactics remains closely connected to the role of the school subject Physical Education as well as Physical Education Teacher Education at universities and colleges. This collected volume provides an overview of the subject understandings, theory landscapes, research contexts and practice models across 24 European countries along five lines of investigation: national historical developments of Sports Didactics, main trends and tendencies of theoretical differentiation, application fields of research and theory formation, recent research perspectives and possible future developments.
