Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story is God's strategic plan for one of his endtime Prophets. The narrative chronicles her life; it is not the sugar coated dialogue you read in a lot of inspirational self help books. Its a straightforward insight into the process leading up to her prophetic walk Christ - of molestation, rape, drug addiction, abusive relationships, racial discrimination, hate crime, prison hustling and living a true thugs life - becoming a sought after drug dealer. Page after page, this book illustrates the redeeming power of Jesus as he supernaturally transforms his chosen vessel with his healing power and delivering love. How the Holy Ghost mold and shape her into one of its awesome weapons in the kingdom of God today and filled her with knowledge of his word which she applied to her walk with Him. God's word taught her how to forgive her molester, her rapist and the racist people who conspired against her. She has been transformed by the renewal of her mind and today her mind is the mind of Christ. Prophetess Gwendolyn has a compassion for the lost creations of God and has been gifted by God's Kingdom with a mantle, anointed and assigned to go and preach the life she lives. With a humble love for her brothers and sisters on prison lockdown because it couldve been her in prison today; she candidly spreads the gospel, focusing on healing the heart and mind and bringing the lost to Christ . If there is someone in your family today who is struggling or has struggled with drug addiction, sexual abuse, racial bias, or any adversity, this book illustrates that there is hope. Always remember Jesus is Lord! The Holy Ghost is always on his post as the deliverer of the world. He can do anything but fail.

Book On Diversity and Complexity of Languages Spoken in Europe and North and Central Asia

Download or read book On Diversity and Complexity of Languages Spoken in Europe and North and Central Asia written by Pirkko Suihkonen and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2014-12-15 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The languages of Europe and North and Central Asia provide a rich variety of data. In this volume, some articles are summaries of large areal typological research projects, and some articles focus on structures or constructions in a single language. However, it is common to all the articles that they investigate phenomena that have not been examined previously, or they apply a new framework to a topic. The volume will be of interest to scholars with a focus on this broad geographic region, typologists, historical linguists and discourse analysts. The uniqueness of this volume is that it brings together work on a genetically diverse set of languages that have some shared areal traits.

Book The Linguistics of Spoken Communication in Early Modern English Writing

Download or read book The Linguistics of Spoken Communication in Early Modern English Writing written by Imogen Marcus and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-20 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses a corpus of manuscript letters from Bess of Hardwick to investigate how linguistic features characteristic of spoken communication function within early modern epistolary prose. Using these letters as a primary data source with reference to other epistolary materials from the early modern period (1500-1750), the author examines them in a unique and systematic way. The book is the first of its kind to combine a replicable scribal profiling technique, used to identify holograph and scribal handwriting within the letters, with innovative analyses of the language they contain. Furthermore, by adopting a discourse-analytic approach to the language and making reference to the socio-historical context of language use, the book provides an alternative perspective to the one often presented in traditional historical accounts of English. This volume will appeal to students and scholars of early modern English and historical linguistics.

Book Factfulness

  • Author : Hans Rosling
  • Publisher : Flatiron Books
  • Release : 2018-04-03
  • ISBN : 125012381X
  • Pages : 353 pages

Download or read book Factfulness written by Hans Rosling and published by Flatiron Books. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER “One of the most important books I’ve ever read—an indispensable guide to thinking clearly about the world.” – Bill Gates “Hans Rosling tells the story of ‘the secret silent miracle of human progress’ as only he can. But Factfulness does much more than that. It also explains why progress is so often secret and silent and teaches readers how to see it clearly.” —Melinda Gates "Factfulness by Hans Rosling, an outstanding international public health expert, is a hopeful book about the potential for human progress when we work off facts rather than our inherent biases." - Former U.S. President Barack Obama Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of only carrying opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends—what percentage of the world’s population live in poverty; why the world’s population is increasing; how many girls finish school—we systematically get the answers wrong. So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess teachers, journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers. In Factfulness, Professor of International Health and global TED phenomenon Hans Rosling, together with his two long-time collaborators, Anna and Ola, offers a radical new explanation of why this happens. They reveal the ten instincts that distort our perspective—from our tendency to divide the world into two camps (usually some version of us and them) to the way we consume media (where fear rules) to how we perceive progress (believing that most things are getting worse). Our problem is that we don’t know what we don’t know, and even our guesses are informed by unconscious and predictable biases. It turns out that the world, for all its imperfections, is in a much better state than we might think. That doesn’t mean there aren’t real concerns. But when we worry about everything all the time instead of embracing a worldview based on facts, we can lose our ability to focus on the things that threaten us most. Inspiring and revelatory, filled with lively anecdotes and moving stories, Factfulness is an urgent and essential book that will change the way you see the world and empower you to respond to the crises and opportunities of the future. --- “This book is my last battle in my life-long mission to fight devastating ignorance...Previously I armed myself with huge data sets, eye-opening software, an energetic learning style and a Swedish bayonet for sword-swallowing. It wasn’t enough. But I hope this book will be.” Hans Rosling, February 2017.

Book Spoken Here

Download or read book Spoken Here written by Mark Abley and published by Vintage Canada. This book was released on 2011-04-13 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether on the other side of the world or in our own backyard, languages everywhere are fading into oblivion. Mark Abley explores what the human family stands to lose — and explains why some endangered languages continue to thrive. Within the next couple of generations, most of the world’s 6000 languages will vanish, due mainly to the unstoppable tide of English. With an open mind and a well-worn passport, award-winning journalist and poet Mark Abley tells entertaining and vital stories about why languages matter. From Oklahoma to Provence, aboriginal Australia to Baffin Island, the cultures are radically different, but the problems of shrinking linguistic and cultural richness are painfully similar. Abley’s investigation provides a stunning glimpse of the beauty and intricacies of languages like Yiddish and Yuchi, Mohawk and Manx, Inuktitut and Provençal. More importantly, it offers a sympathetic and memorable portrait of the people who still speak languages under threat. When a language dies out, gone too are stories that have been told for centuries, unique ways of seeing the world, and perhaps even ways of solving problems both large and small. Abley believes we must see languages as abundant sources of richness, wonder and usefulness. And he shows that hope still exists: that the determination of even one person can revive a whole language and its culture, in the process creating something new, changing and alive — exactly what languages do best.

Download or read book A Word Fitly Spoken written by Philip L. Culbertson and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1995-02-23 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book compares New Testament and Rabbinical texts in order to recover the oral tradition accompanying the written Biblical text. Although New Testament Greek is a hellenistic idiom, it reflects a Semitic rather than a hellenistic culture. Therefore, Culbertson looks to Jewish sources in order to understand the Greek text, rather than to the philosophical, methodological, and literary sources of hellenistic culture. The author uses specific examples to illustrate various literary theories and to prove the value of a Listener Response Analysis of Gospel texts. A dozen parables are discussed in detail.

Through a series of intimate, illuminating interviews with various members of the Vineyard, an evangelical church with hundreds of congregations across the country, Tanya Luhrmann leaps into the heart of evangelical faith. Combined with scientific research that studies the effect that intensely practiced prayer can have on the mind, When God Talks Back examines how normal, sensible people—from college students to accountants to housewives, all functioning perfectly well within our society—can attest to having the signs and wonders of the supernatural become as quotidian and as ordinary as laundry. Astute, sensitive, and extraordinarily measured in its approach to the interface between science and religion, Luhrmann's book is sure to generate as much conversation as it will praise.
