The major ethnic groups are the Chadian Arabs, Chadian Sara, Chadian Gorane, and Chadian Mayo-Kebbi. French and Arabic are the official languages of Chad, although over 100 other languages are spoken in the country. Chad is an agricultural country, with cotton, sorghum, and millet being the main crops. The country is also rich in natural resources, including gold, uranium, and petroleum, which are relatively unexplored. Chad has been plagued by political instability, social unrest, and poverty for many years. However, in recent years, it has made progress in economic development and peacebuilding efforts, thanks to international support and political will.
